Angels Announce Initial 60-Man Player Pool

By Anthony Franco and Mark Polishuk | June 28, 2020 at 7:25pm CDT

Today marks the deadline for teams to submit to Major League Baseball their initial spring training player pools, which can comprise up to 60 players. Players are not eligible to participate in either a spring training or regular season game until they are included in the pool. Teams are free to change the makeup of the pools as they see fit. However, players removed from a team’s 60-man (for reasons unrelated to injury, suspension, etc.) must be exposed to other organizations via trade or waivers.

Not all players within a team’s pool are ticketed for MLB playing time, of course. Most teams will include well-regarded but still far-off prospects as a means of getting them training reps with no intention of running them onto a major league diamond this season. A comprehensive review of 2020’s unique set of rules can be found here.

The Angels’ initial player pool consists of the following 55 players…

Curious to see if Jam Jones sees regular time this year. The Halos have some versatile depth pieces in the middle INF but with the athleticism to return to the OF I’m sure Jones can help the team somehow. I really like the guy and hope he’s able to play at the major league level. Gotta root for the good dudes to make it

Jones hasn’t hit much in the minors. His speed is top notch. But he needs to improve his ability to hit.

Yeah, I’ve followed him for a while. He’s performed well in the AZFL and in spurts in the minors but hasn’t sustained success. Still, he’s got some useful tools and this year may provide him with an opportunity to use them

Walsh didn’t pitch enough innings to qualify for two way status.

Surprising to see Jordyn Adams on there since he only reached High A ball last year. But I guess they think he can be a speed/defensive weapon off the bench

Thankfully they were smart enough to add that Trout kid. He’s good.

That’s what I was thinking. For the sake of my sanity I hope he does. But he’s a good human, so probably not.

What are you worried your going to miss watching him get all those walks? No he won’t have to miss any time .. apparently he is god, he has a time machine. Only he can be there for the birth of his child and miss no time. He’s so good he can be in two places simultaneously. He’s like Schwarzenegger from total recall.
