Justin Verlander Throwing From Mound

By Jeff Todd | June 15, 2020 at 12:21pm CDT

Astros ace Justin Verlander appears to have made full use of the coronavirus pause of the season. The veteran hurler is back to throwing off of the mound, per his own Instagram feed.

When last we checked in on JV, he was making progress in healing up from a few recent maladies. As of late April, he felt he had mostly healed from a lat strain and was also moving in a positive direction following groin surgery.

It would seem the upward trajectory has continued since that time. Verlander looks to be throwing comfortably in the video he provides.

What remains unclear at this point is just what timeline remains for Verlander to ramp up to full readiness. It isn’t yet known precisely when the 2020 season will launch, but that date is surely approaching.

It would obviously be a huge boon to the Astros to have Verlander available for all of the truncated campaign. He has been outstanding ever since arriving in Houston, producing excellent results while shouldering a heavy workload even as he moves into his late thirties.

I didn’t say he wasn’t a great pitcher. Just that he’s a tool. Plenty of HOFers who kinda suck as people.

All evidence to the contrary but by all means continue showing your ignorance of Justin Verlander and his record in baseball

He’s a first ballot HOF. Since his debut he dominates in many of the important categories finishing in the top 3, first in many.

Don’t blame Verlander for Astro’s sign fiasco, he didn’t get there until September

I like how the Astros have just benefitted from the virus. Injured players get to heal in time for a prospective season and if the season starts up, no matter how long it lasts, those suspended for a year will serve their time as written..

I’d be shocked if any of the suspended guys have jobs next year. I think they’ll get jobs eventually but mot that soon

Doesn’t every pitcher have to throw from a mound?

Also: he is a gigantic tool.

Can you all calm down about Verlander’s $35m per annum, delectable lady wife, then glance in the mirror and simply say to yourselves – “”Look what she could have won….”

There’s a lack of perspective here, and you are letting yourselves down….

Verlander is one of the best pitchers in awhile. I know a lot of people just want to hate on the Astros. I would say he is a Hall of Famer.

I don’t think any of those people hating could argue he is not a HOF guy.
