Eduardo Rodriguez Shut Down For “Minor Complications” From COVID-19

By Jeff Todd | July 23, 2020 at 12:23pm CDT

Red Sox hurler Eduardo Rodriguez will take a step back from his effort to return from a bout of COVID-19, manager Ron Roenicke tells reporters including MLB.com’s Ian Browne (Twitter link). Rodriguez is said to be dealing with “minor complications” from the virus.

It’s obviously not clear what specifically is ailing Rodriguez, who has continued to test negative for an active infection. Roenicke says the club is taking the measure to ensure that Rodriguez clears out any nagging issues relating to the disease.

Thankfully, it seems there’s ample confidence that Rodriguez will make a full and rapid recovery. The skipper says that all believe he will be able to resume pitching and make it back to the majors this year. Nevertheless, it’s a sobering reminder that this illness isn’t necessarily a non-event, even for otherwise exceptionally healthy young athletes.

no but many are already dead, According to Yale University about 30% more than currently reported.. making the Current Death toll over 180,000 PEOPLE.. many more are going to die and multiples of those deaths numbers are going to suffer long term damage from this Virus

Actually, Enrico is absolutely correct. And we all know there is a huge difference between dying with and from Covid. Doesn’t make you any less dead, but hyperbole on either side of the debate serves no one.

But magically nobody has died of cancer or tragic car accidents or heart attacks. My aunt had cancer and her cause of death was Covid she was ever even tested. All the stories are bodies dripping blood out of storage trucks is also untrue because they would be sealed inside bags

I get the cancer reference, and I’m sorry for your loss. But what’s with the car accident. No one who dies in an auto accident will be ruled a COVID death. Yet that’s everyone’s go-to. Third time I’ve heard it since yesterday.

its a false narrative…. they don’t pronounce cause of death unless they have medical evidence that was the cause.. to do otherwise would open them up for many lawsuits.. the whole myth that it automatically gets stamped on a death certificate is a lie… in fact their are many unattended deaths from the Virus that are not attributed to the virus.. that started with the 1st deaths in the Washington state Nursing home … they went back and tested people who had died of Pneumonia.. and found they had died of the COVID virus… sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/07/200701125506.htm

why bring a lie to lessen the sad fact of your Aunt’s deaths… there are no blood dripping from the morgue trailers.. there are many morgue trailers that were used in New York and now Texas.. and people don’t bleed after they die… and the Trucks are deeply refrigerated… 22 in texas right now: cnbc.com/2020/07/17/texas-officials-order-extra-bo…

In a lawsuit the medical professional in all likelihood win because they are considered the medical expert in the case. They would have to have a major mess up to lose, along with an expert medical professional refuting a colleague in court. Good luck.

Mistakes will always happen when you have 100,000s of samples.. and it may well be he died because he had a heart attack caused by the blood clots caused by COVID.. cause of Death.. definitely COVID induced.. No COVID NO HEART ATTACK NO ACCIDENT..

you cant say anything for sure about “term effects” yet. its only been a few months. those arent long term effects, but short term ones. also i need a source at least for the “neurological damage” part of the equation.

Exactly. No one really knows if there are “long-term” effects. We won’t know until the “long-term” arrives, and even then conclusions could be difficult to ascertain.

you make a good point, but there is no proof that these effects will linger until they actually do so. who is to say some of these effects wolnt clear up? probably not all will, but you cant just call them long term with no proof that there is any term yet.

Its time to expand you vocabulary: Ischemia.. The Newest Science on the Covid Virus has coalesced around it really being a blood vessel disease. It causes blood clots.. blood clots are most dangerous when they affect the brain and heart.. lesser so when they affect less important organs. in the Brain and heart these clots prevent the flow of blood…. blood carries oxygen.. the lack of oxygen kills cells… this is ischemia… and by definition it is long term. those dead cells do not regenerate over night in either the brain or the heart… in the brain you learn to cope with dead areas… this is seen in stroke victims.. a short time of ischemia leads to permanent loss of function that must be relearned by other parts and the formation of new neuropathways.. That of course is by definition “LONG TERM”… The Heart can recover somewhat from this loss of cells.. typically called heart attacks.. the recovery is very long term.. if at all.. My own ischemic attack has left scar tissue in my heart that will of course never heal… this is again “LONG TERM”.. having both lived it and worked with it.. I’m pretty sure you don’t understand the science of what i am saying.. but suffice it to say that COVID causes Heart Attacks and Strokes and loss of Kidney function.. and a very long list of things like permanent lung damage caused by clotting… …

Brain damage, if COVID is indeed causing it, is permanent and doesn’t ‘clear up’.

yeah obviously, but how common is it related to the other symptoms? what is the general age of those affected? to what extent is it “damage?” hard to know its its a significant concern and for who without more data.

Darkside. Go on line and see lung x-rays. Permanency will be different for each person but doctors have already said damaged lungs will not heal and restore itself.

that is a total bummer for him, and those around him that it affects. Find your heart dude!

You can’t say that with any degree of certainty. He could be fine, he could also potentially face long-term effects or spread the virus unknowingly to someone else who *won’t* be fine. I do not understand, given what we know and have seen from this virus–especially from other countries, why people like you persist in downplaying this.

What do you get out of it? You must like baseball, since you’re here, so why do you keep pushing this agenda and attitude when it will only lead to more chaos and uncertainty as it relates to baseball?

This story, however, shows that there may be lingering symptoms after being cleared to resume activity. One cannot simply assume a return to full health, because we still don’t know a lot about this new and novel disease.

Lets not forget all the others listed as covid even though they died of another disease. .and the motorcycle death listed as covid was in Florida…if everyone is honest and they fix all the death certificates, there will be maybe 5000 pure covid19 deaths

Wrong again Metsfan. When federal funds were doled out previously, the government used a formula that favored Republican states. NY at the time was the worst hit state aNd got screwed in comparison to funding sent to Red States that as of then hadn’t been hit nearly as hard.

Mistakes will always happen when you have 100,000s of samples.. and in this instance the mistake was corrected ” Fox 35 inquired with Orange County Health Officer Raul Pino, MD, about two COVID-19 deaths that were reported among individuals in their 20s last week. The Florida Department of Health said COVID-19 can be listed as the immediate or underlying cause of death, but instances such as trauma, homicide and motor-vehicle accidents are supposed to be excluded from the COVID-19 death rates.

On July 18, the state removed the motorcyclist’s death from the list of COVID-19 fatalities. In Florida, medical examiners certify all COVID-19 deaths.” beckershospitalreview.com/data-analytics/florida-c…
