Do the Phillies have enough to get Buxton or do they move on to a Keirmeir or Bradley jr?

I don’t think anyone wants Bradley. That is one of the recent examples of Scott Boras somehow convincing front offices that a player is way more valuable than they are. Boras was saying something along the lines of “Jackie Bradley, Jr. is one of the best 5 defensive centerfielders of all time and should be paid as such.” He was even comparing him to Andruw Jones and Willie Mays. He had finally had a somewhat decent year at the plate and Boras wanted teams to assume that was going to continue to happen moving forward.

I was surprised a Tigers fan was asking about Freddie Freeman. Why would they want to sign a mid-30’s first baseman to a six year deal when they already spent a #1 pick in Spencer Torkelson? Are people giving up on Torkelson already? I know one could DH but you still have to do something with Cabrera and he’s not going to play any position. It would be funny if they forced him to become a catcher and said it was became they wanted to get their money’s worth. That should be the penalty for declining to the point a player’s contract is bad. Just force them all to become catchers or retire. I bet some guys would try harder and some of the others would just retire so the teams could back out of the contract.

So, since the Jays have tried to sign Gausman on two other occasions but to no avail, will the third time be the charm and they get the guy they’ve coveted for the last few years ???

Apparently he was right. Toronto is definitely in on Gausman.

Yeah. I noticed that. The funny thing is he started saying that before the reports came out. I think he did it a couple times and realized it irritated some people so now he’s trying to be a pest. It’s kind of funny though since it actually seems to be materializing.

The site literally covers every rumor and transaction. Teams receive coverage based on those transactions. I don’t see how any fanbase can claim bias one way or the other. Ridiculous.

They delete comments, they force a narrative and coverage like “”We probably shouldn’t rule out Mr. Met himself at this point. And hey, he does have plenty of experience with the team.” Mark P himself in the chat”

The Mets, White Sox and Angels are all the second tier teams in the big 3 markets. The Mets current owner, has already showed that he is willing to pay out big money. Arte Moreno, has never been shy to spend big money. Grandal is the only big time FA the White Sox have signed in the past 15 years. The White Sox have never finished in the top 5 of payroll. Maybe the reason the White Sox don’t get linked to all the big FA, is because they have never shown that they are serious about signing the big long term deals.

White Sox fans…How would you feel if the Sox end up with these guys to fill up the roster?

    1) Sign SP Robbie Ray
    2) Trade for 2B Ketel Marte & Catcher Carson Kelly… A package deal centered around Jake Burger and three or four other prospects
    3) Resign RP Ryan Tepera
    4) Sign either Joc Pederson or Eddie Rosario for RF (either would platoon with Vaughn/Engel)

Pederson has gained weight, lost more than a step, flailed against lefties, and seems more interested in his affect than his performance. Why do you want a three-man platoon in the first place?

Joc Pedersen would play against righties and Vaughn against lefties. That answers your “failed against lefties” concern. Plus you still want Vaughn to get his at bats. The Sox only need a player for one year basically, until Cespedes gets called up. Not to mention Oscar Colas will be signing soon and will take over RF in about 2 years.

I don’t think the White Sox even come close to having the prospect capital to land Ketel Marte. A Jake Burger led prospect package isn’t going to come close to getting it done.

MLB.com did a blockbuster three team trade with the Brewers, Phillies and A’s, per BTV it checked out as fair which saw

    Phillies get Chapman and Hader
    Brewers get Olson and Puk
A’s get Huira, Mitchell, Abel, Stott, Wilson, O’hoppe

    Other possibilities

Bassitt and Manaea to Mets for, Ginn, Butto, Vientos, Lee,Palmer

    Alternatively

Montas and Bassitt to the Rays for, Wall, Edwards, Lowe and Goss.

Laureano and Murphy could be overpay candidates due to control

Manaea would be a good fit for the White Sox. They need a lefty for the rotation not named Keuchel. Plus they’re NOT going to put Crochet in the rotation at the same time as Kopech. Next year is more likely.

Giolito, Lynn, Manaea, Cease & Kopech

McNeil had a down season, but previously was raking and was called about often. I wonder if he could be the primary piece (w prospects) to go back for an A’s SP + RP? Cheap, controlled, and versatile…all things the A’s like.

It would also fit clubhouse politics as McNeil and Lindor had a falling out, and one of those guys is the face of the franchise…and the other is named Jeff. Jeff is firery, but he plays hard and produces. I hate to move him, but the Mets need pitching and McNeil (or JD/Dom Smith) could be moved.
