They have spent the 6th most amount of money this offseason. Payroll is up to ~$150.

People are using “they don’t spend” instead of “they don’t spend how I want them to”.

They’re spending! Just not how you want.

Highest net profit in 23 of around 99 million. They are in the money business. It just so happens that baseball is the business. I’m not an Oriole fan, but if I were, I would be less enthusiastic about the future knowing that winning is not the priority.

Steve, you’re comparing Alonzo to Bellinger? Belli is far from one-dimentional. He is solid defensively and versatile, too,I might add. You simply can’t say that about Pete. Plus, he runs pretty well. Recognizing that, I just don’t understand the comp.

I think he was comparing their situations, not as players.

I think it would be fun to maybe devote one chat a month or so that is just a free for all, with all questions and comments visible. Obviously only chosen ones would still be addressed, but I’d enjoy seeing the whole pie of madness.

I found the Suzuki for Cease trade idea from a cubs fan to be quite humorous as well.

I still see Arenado, ending up in LA, the Lux move, with Muncie moving second certainly seems like a viable option.

Gunnar for Pablo? That might be one of the craziest trade proposals I’ve ever read on the internet.

The guy who proposed the Cub trade for Pablo made me laugh harder. I was thinking more like Ballesteros, Alcantara and Wicks might get it done. Anybody really except Caissie or Shaw and Wiggins. Might even consider Horton and Ballesteros and whichever SS the Cubs have in the system they like the best. I could see that happening( He typed Hopefully).

Steve is right. Bregman doesn’t really fit Harris’s previous signings. I’m about the only Tigers fan that doesn’t want them to sign him. I think Jace Jung will do just fine. I’d rather they keep that $ for a real hole that needs filling.

Now, if there’s a trade in mind for Jung, I’m open to it. I just hope it’s semi agreed to in advance, and i hope it blows me away.

I’m not a big Jace fan, but if I was a Tigers fan, I’d rather see him play there for a year than sign Bregman to 7/200, or thereabouts. Bregman may be forced into a Boras shorter-term deal with opt outs. Just not sure where. His bat will play quite well at Fenway. He’d have been fine at the Trop in Tampa before the hurricane. He’s a bad match for Yankee Stadium, although they could use a 3B’man and shift Jazz to second. I don’t see the Mets as players here.

I’m not predicting that Jace Jung will be a hall of famer, but I think he’ll be a pretty decent hitter. We can look at Bregman and know what type of production he will give us right around year 3 of a 6 year deal. It won’t be much. Well, 6 years is the length of time they have Jung under club control. I’m looking at both likely scenarios and I see Jung being more productive over the next 6 years. I don’t understand why they would pay so many millions of dollars to a player that I don’t feel they need.

The Yankees want the Tigers to sign Bregman so they can trade for Jung.

Sadly, I believe Steve is absolutely on point regarding a Seiya for Cease dealt. Padres could really use Seiya as an upgrade in LF. On the field, at the plate and in the clubhouse, Seiya would be an upgrade over Profar. Moreover, acquiring Suzuki, might have helped in the recruiting of Sasaki.
