Mark your calendars, Stephen Strasburg will make his major league debut June 8th, according to MLB.com's Bill Ladson. The right-hander will test his stuff against a major league offense for the first time in Washington next Tuesday against the Pirates.
The Nationals put off the top draft pick's debut long enough to eliminate the chance that he goes to arbitration four times. Strasburg will not pick up more than 118 days of service time this year, so he will not be a super two after 2012.
Strasburg appears to be ready for big league hitters less than a year after being drafted. He has a 1.43 ERA in ten starts and has allowed just 28 hits and 12 walks in 50.1 innings. His upper-90s fastball has helped him strike out 60 batters this year.

The odds of this scenario playing out are, obviously, quite slim, and he may get shut down far before this could happen, but say the Nats make the playoffs and make a run (hey, stop laughing.) Would the postseason count as service time?

For his sake, I hope he gets hit really hard a couple of starts into his ML season.
That means that the Tigers won’t see him in their series with the Nats the next week. The Indians will see him on the Sunday before while the White Sox will see him on the Saturday after.
Strange they Didnt want him to face The Reds, maybe they realized they cant sell tickets if he does’nt start off atleast 32-0 with 420 K’s, 0 BB, 9 no hitters, a .400 BA and delivering octuplets during the seven inning stretch with nothing but a rally monkey and a jock strap.
