- The Cubs outrighted catcher Koyie Hill to Triple-A Iowa, writes Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com. Hill, who appeared in 11 games with the North Siders this season, was designated for assignment Thursday.
- The Red Sox released reliever Jesse Carlson, tweets Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal. Carlson, a left-hander, missed most of 2010 and all of 2011 due to a shoulder injury. He signed a split contract with Boston last offseason.
- The A's announced that first baseman Kila Ka'aihue cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento. The Hawaiian, acquired from the Royals for Ethan Hollingsworth last September, was designated for assignment by Oakland last week.
All I remember was seeing this guy hit at one point in the season. If he played in a different ballclub, at a different stadium, I’d bet his numbers would be a lot better.
I’d like to see this guy in the majors if only to get a chance to hear Joe Buck try to pronounce his name.

He’s a career minor leaguer like all the other A’s first basemen since Jason Giambi, except for Carlos Pena who they discarded. Barton, Allen, Carter, Kila, none of them belong in the major leagues. Brandon Moss looks pretty good so far, though some still whine about Carter getting his 4th chance. Kila’s a better hitter than the others (Carter, Barton) but he’s fielding is horrible.
Maybe the tigers should take a chance on carlson he was always a decently good pitcher with the blue jays. Any input?
