Proformance To Represent Ervin Santana

By Ben Nicholson-Smith | October 30, 2012 at 1:40pm CDT

Right-hander Ervin Santana is once again represented by Proformance, MLBTR has learned. Santana left Proformance in July, briefly joining Wasserman Media Group. He will hit free agency this week if the Angels decline his 2013 option.

The Angels aren't expected to exercise Santana's $13MM option, and they haven't ruled out the possibility of trading Santana to another team. The 29-year-old posted a 5.16 ERA with 6.7 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 178 innings this past season. He had completed at least 220 innings with ERAs below 4.00 in 2010 and 2011, however.

Be sure to check out MLBTR’s Agency Database for any information about player representatives.

he gave up a lot of homeruns this year, which was the main reason for the poor season.

if he can go to a team where half his starts are in a pitcher friendly park he should have a much better year

Not too many parks friendlier to pitchers than Anaheim.

really? I am a HUGE Angels fan, and Anaheim Stadium IS a pitcher friendly park. He just had a terrible first half, and his second half was decent at least. 13 mill is a ton of money though for his lack of production. Going to Yankee stadium his era may be over 7….

Just ask Lackey how leaving Anaheim Stadium helps out your ERA.

as funny as that was…it depends…most of his problem was the homerun ball and if it was bad in anahiem…i can imagine how bad that would be in yankee stadium. if he could get his form back from a year to a few years ago and be less streaky then he would be good. I think a change of pace is what he needs.

Santana was so frustrating for Angel fans. He could sometimes be outstanding, and on the other hand he often did not seem to have the mental attitude to be a success. It seems to me that he does not have the drive and.or character to match his talent. Glad to see him go. The news is that Dipoto wanted to trade him last year but Moreno did not give the okay. I wonder if he wishes he had. Santana was a major contirbutor to the disaster that was the first part of the season.
