Latest On Alex Wood

By Jeff Todd | July 31, 2015 at 2:35pm CDT

2:35pm: A Cubs-Dodgers deal was never discussed, per Rosenthal (on Twitter). But the Indians did have talks on Wood in a “larger deal.”

2:09pm: The Cubs and Dodgers are discussing lefty Alex Wood, who was just acquired by Los Angeles, Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets. A match appears to be “a longshot,” a source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link).

Wouldn’t Peraza be a better candidate for starting 2B?

That.. that… would make a ton of sense. Forgot about him. My bad.

I think he needs one more year in AAA.

MVP potential? I don’t know if I go that far.

Ha. Send Haren back. Already paying him. Dump Castro as well along with a couple prospects.

I agree. Baez is tearing it up again in AAA. I would love to see him play 2B and move Russell over to SS. If anything, they’re just doing their do-diligence on another cost-controlled arm.

Not really sure if there’s a match here. Maybe Wood and Peraza for Baez + something else?

personally i’d rather have the big bat potential of Baez than the marginal bat of Peraza. Russell’s no slouch as a defender.

I don’t disagree, it was just the only reasonable scenario I could think of

Joel Sherman randomly speculating about things that never happened? Shocker.
