The Orioles are “closing in” on a deal for Brewers outfielder Gerardo Parra, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Prospect Zach Davies is expected to be the return to Milwaukee. Nathan Bishop of Lookout Landing suggested just this scenario could be in the works on Twitter yesterday.

Great move for the O’s. Parra one of the best defensive OFs in the game and provides above average offensive numbers to boot. Very underrated player that could help the Orioles a lot without costing as much in prospects

I think its a pretty good deal. Brewers wanted two prospects for Parra most of the time. But with the deadline today, the price obviously came down. Brewers Org needs pitching

But also need corner infield prospects

I don’t think they were going to get 2 prospects for Parra after more OFs became available the last few weeks, and if they did they would be mid to low prospects. Davies is a low velocity, control type mid to end of the rotation pitcher (pretty much just got a younger version of Fiers back). Like the deal. Corner IF prospect would have been nice, but the teams looking at Parra didn’t really have much to offer in those regards. Maybe Lind will still get us something if they decide to ship him.

I would rather have tried getting S. Smith from Seattle, but this is ok. I just hope it isn’t there only acquisition.

so you’d rather get a soon to be 33 year old seth smith than get a 22 y/o arm? and what do you mean by ‘only acquisition’?
