I really love the app. It’s much more convenient to use. One suggestion is, I would love to be able to vote on the polls from the app instead of logging onto a computer. Congrats on all the hard work!
Tim Dierkes
I think we need to do something about how the app displays html like that. I know when we embedded chats, we had issues as well.

Thanks for making a comment button for the mobile app!

The app is awesome and better than the web site. Get it now. GO CUBS!

The web site is also great:) I just prefer the app.

This new version is beautiful. I like the commenting ability and the picture displays. One feature that should be brought back from the 2010 version that I found quite useful was that articles a user viewed would could be filtered out of the list as opposed to dimmed out. I found it easier to keep up. Really great job, HIGHLY recommended.
AndyM
I like the dimming option personally just in case I want to go back and read it’s much easier.
Tim Dierkes
That’s a tricky one. We often go back and update existing posts, so if you filter that out you’re likely to miss things.
Ideally, a post we’ve updated would at least get un-dimmed if you haven’t read the update, but we’ll often just edit a few words of a post without actually providing an update (minor grammar/spelling) and I wouldn’t want those to get un-dimmed.

Everytime I visit MLBTR on my phone, you keep hawking the app, but you don’t offer it for Windows Phone. I guess the mobile site doesn’t take a hint from visits from mobile Internet Explorer…

Please make a Windows 10 app. Already more than 200 million users and that number should triple by years end.
Tim Dierkes
Windows stuff is a whole different story. Some people pushed for a Windows 8 app a few years ago, but I’m glad I didn’t spend money on that, Of our mobile traffic, about 10% of it is Internet Explorer. Currently the demand is not there for a mobile Windows app.
As far as Windows 10, 3.3% of our readers use that as their operating system. 31% of our readers are on some type of Windows though, so I’m sure the Windows 10 number will go up a lot. But then, is there a good reason to make an app mostly to be used on desktop computers?

Fair enough. It’s your site, time, and money. I might be in the minority but I’m a huge fan of your site and religiously visit it. I’d personally love to have access on all my devices even my TV. I’m sure you know, soon there will be tools to allow “easy” (im assuming its relative) ports of iOS apps to Windows 10. I hope at that point with a bigger base, you’d at least explore the possibility, if it’s too much work then it is what it is. But maybe you find out it’s very minor work and maybe worth it? If it doesn’t work out there is a tool that allows a site to be a webApp. Just the site but with API ties that allow you to easily add things like notifications. If it’s still not work the cost to you, then it’s ok because I’m sure like me most will still religiously visit your great site. 🙂

The app is great, but when are you going to update it to work properly on the iPad Pro? It’s been out since Nov. 11.
None of the headlines show up properly when the app is used in landscape mode. And if the app is opened in landscape mode, the headlines still don’t show up if you rotate to portrait mode. They only work if the app is opened in portrait mode.

Love the site, like the new app, slightly better than the old one.
But your last bullet is false. Most of these types of posts, I have asked when you will provide an ad-free version of the app. The new app has ads.
PLEASE, do not declare the old app completely replaced until you offer a paid version that eliminates the ads.
Tim Dierkes
I was referring to the new app having all the features of the old (and more). I don’t really consider ads/no ads to be a feature, but you’re right, we don’t offer an ad-free experience.
Right now that falls under something I’m thinking about, but haven’t made a decision on yet.
mmnatas
Thanks for still considering it.
If it has anything to due with the revenue you earn from ads versus a one-time purchase (I could easily see getting more ad revenue from 2-3 years between major version changes exceeding the $3 one-time purchase), consider using a subscription model like many other apps do, $2-10/year would be a reasonable price IMO.

Having difficulty. How do you set up push notifications on the android app?
bogaerts
there are two setting on the top right, click one to set up a notification sound, click the other to pick”new story notifications – all stories”
jipp15
I love the app. I come here about 10 times a day, but 2 things that I would like to have is notifications for comments and the thumbs. Lol
bogaerts
I don’t get notifications for the “transactions (mlbtr)” tab category.

Tim & Team – Love the site and will continue to follow, but the new app (Android), although attractive, is quite slow to load. The previous app was great probably because is wasn’t as graphics-laden, and could load quite fast, which was ideal for anyone with spotty service traveling on the NYC subway. I never could get the comments section to load in the old app, and I don’t even see a Comments section on the new one.
Kayrall
I experience loading delays from time to time on my android phone (Note 4) also.
CTBrowns
Great for NFL, MLB and NBA.
Do you have plans for NHL coverage?
Tim Dierkes
Tentatively, we do. It would be late 2016 or early 2017 though.

I forgot I had the app on my phone. Is there a way to add notifications to the app. I visit the site daily (Both Baseball and Basketball) on the PC but I never use the app. Mostly i’d use the app to notify me when something happens. Would this be possible in the future?
Steve Adams
The app does have notifications, unless you’re still using the old “Baseball Trade Rumors” app from 2010 and not the new “Trade Rumors” app that was released a little more than a year ago. You can enable notifications by clicking the slider icon on the top right of each column.
dvazquez190
Thank You I did not see that before. I looked on the phone settings at the notifications but never looked in the application itself.

I enjoy the app just has a few minor issues in my view.
-I agree with the comment above that it would be better if after you read the article it would turn gray. Anytime any article is updated, even if you read it again and then close the app it turns gray again. I have OCD so it messes me up when I know I have read the article numerous times since the most recent update and it is still not gray after I reload the app.
-I have my notifications set up for my team and certain players and I notice I receive the notifications sometimes and sometimes I don’t? Also sometimes I’ll receive the notification quite some time after the article was posted.
-Sometimes app freezes as scrolling through article
These are all relatively minor issues or more like pet peeves. Overall I really enjoy the app.
