@Justin. Visited Seattle last summer and caught a game there, really only to see Trout in person (which…. wow!). Ballpark was better than expected and the food there was probably the best of the dozen or so parks I’ve been to. Find the stand with hot wings and loaded tater tots.

Were too expensive for me to give a try for something I probably would’ve eaten one bite and spit out. Plus all I could think would be I’d get legs stuck in my teeth. LOL.

I had some deep-fried cicadas once. They weren’t terrible. It mostly just tasted like crunchy, if that makes sense.

3:51 Why wouldn’t players want the universal DH?

The Athletic did a player poll last year and 54%+ said no to the universal DH. I think Steve’s answer pretty much summed up the reasons.

It seems most polls are split, with a slight edge to no NL DH. Even the one in the chat today was 50.6% against. It will take a vote by NL owners to adopt the DH and if they listen to their fans I doubt it happens soon.

They won’t listen to their fans. They never have.

It is surprising all players don’t want it.
I’d like to hear their reasons…..

There are other fans, like me, who feel a ballplayer should play the full game – run, hit, field, and throw. I don’t find it hard to believe some players feel the same way.
I am surprised that some people believe all players want the DH. Steve’s answer covers some logical reasons IMO……

“Well, a lot of pitchers like to hit. A lot of pitchers also like the idea of facing other pitchers rather than David Ortiz/Nelson Cruz or whatever position player is being cycled through the DH spot on a given day (for teams that use it rotationally).”

“Plus, these guys are all players but they’re also fans of the game. If they grew up following NL ball, you can’t blame them for wanting to preserve the brand of baseball that prompted them to fall in love with the game.”

Baseball has become specialized beyond the full run, hit, field and throw. Being an AL fan since my Astros were forced into the AL, I am agnostic regarding the NL going to the DH, but I can’t stand to watch most pitchers trying to hit or run the bases. I also worry about the increased exposure to injury, since I’m a fan of the whole game.

It’s kind of like a quarterback trying to make the tackle after throwing an interception. Don’t risk the injury, just get out of the way.

Pitchers might :like to hit.” That’s great, good for them. I’d love to take an at-bat in a major league game. I’d almost surely strike out in three pitches but it would be fun .

Pitchers have never been able to hit, ever. It’s not a selected skill for a pitcher, and there’s just not enough hours in a day to work on pitching and hitting. It’s one reason why Ohtani is such a great story – but of course, Ohtani isn’t going to play the field when he is batting and is not going to bat when he is pitching.

I don’t care very much about watching a bunt, so I would prefer a DH in both leagues., and I do think it will happen in the next few years.

Because those type of article comment sections turn into a political bloodbath on a baseball site.

    Steve Adams
4:04 I cannot fathom why anyone would care about the change to the extent that they pine for the old terminology.

Steve, I demand a People’s Referendum on IL vs. DL.
IL has meant International League since rocks were invented.

I care, I pine for the old terminology, and I vote DL.

I agree, IL makes me think of the International League. Maybe they’ll change it to Disabled League?

Because there’s huge difference between being disables and injured. I can’t fathom why you snowflakes are so worried about a single letter, but maybe you should get back to your safe spaces.
