    Best rotation in baseball

We can prognosticate all we want but this is why the games get played. So really this season will determine who/what the best rotation in baseball is. (A stronger prognostication, if you’re into that) is that the NYY rotation is worse than it was a few days ago.

Not really when compared to last year? Sevy didn’t pitch- German will be back, Paxton is ahead of schedule late may Early June return. King, Schmidt, Montgomery and Garcia can play out to fill the 4 and 5 spots. The Rotation was Tanka, Paxton, German, CC and Happ to begin last year. CC repalced by Montgomery. We come out ahead. Paxtoon repalced in the short term by whomever- remember Pax started slow so impact won’t be felt. German will be back mid year.. Cole added? Rotation is solid.

I’m assuming that fans think Domingo German is okay to come back after domestic violence. Interesting.

Yeah, guy’s a D-bag. Everyone makes mistakes and I’m not perfect for sure, but hitting your girl (and in public)? Damn man, that’s hard for me to get past. He’s served his sentence and received help which is good, as rehabilitation is the goal of those programs, but that’s one of those intrinsic values that should never have to be rehabilitated. Anyway, I hear you.

Psst…..Yankees…..call the Tigers. Time to pay up for Matthew Boyd. Skubal can take his spot in Tiger rotation.

Our internal options are as good or better than Boyd. Not worth paying top pitcher value for a 4th starter at best

The Yankees could absolutely use Matt Boyd in their rotation.

        Boyd for Chance Adams.

Bit of an overpay on the Yankees part but that’s the price you pay for starting pitching sometimes.

Hence, the joke. Replace him with Bryan Mitchell. Also not with the Yankees.

Since you missed the point, the point is don’t give up what the Tigers want for a glorified #3 starter.

Yeah, that’s not true (internal options just as good). Boyd pitched 185 IP with 238 K’s. We got nothing like that after Cole, Tanaka (a #4), and Happ (a #5). The #4 will be a #2. The #5 will be a #3. The rest are total crap shoots. Montgomery had 4 IP. Loaisiga 32 often rocky IP. Not looking forward to this. I’d feel better with Boyd.

It was a joke on my part. But for what it’s worth there was a better pitching than Boyd who had his ups and downs and couldn’t leave fast enough. His name is Sonny Gray. Boyd would get eaten alive in the AL East. Not worth the price Detroit is asking for.

Boyd is not a big enough upgrade. over what they have in house.

Boyd is better than Happ, who is currently slated for #3. Boyd is a better known quantity than Montgomery, who pitched 4 Ip last season after returning from TJS. And Loaisiga, probably the most likely candidate for #5, had 32 frequently rocky IP last year. I would personally take Boyd and slot him in between Tanaka and Happ, drop Montgomery to 5 and leave Loasiga in the pen as a swing man. The biggest issue with Boyd would be how he would fare in the NYC pressure cooker.

Boyd would easily be their number 3 at this point, behind only Cole and Tanaka. And not that far behind Tanaka really.

I agree with this. For what they’ll give up, I say go with in-house first. If it doesn’t work, we can always overpay for him at the deadline.

Yeah like anyone but you has heard that. Probably heard it once or twice and you’re still squealing like a stuck pig.

Also, it’s not like last year compared to anything you can compare it to.

Up to a point injuries are just a part of the game. It’s the extremes that are notable. Get it, Wayhazy?

Wouldn’t you substitute “every fan” for every Yankee fan in both statements and still be correct? Just look at the threads for different teams with injured players…

Ok so 2 things, if he was pulled in the ALCS for forearm tightness, why wasn’t he examined then ? He could have been 5 months into the rehab and been ready for the 2020 post season. Forgive me if that sounds familiar.
And the NY teams need to get over each other already. With JD Davis and Severino out w injuries, there’s a pathway to a sensible trade here.
Andujar and Montgomery for Noah .
    Thoughts ?

Thought Is I’d love that trade, but I highly doubt Mets would do that. They would ask for far more and I don’t think the Yankees have the requisite pieces to get Syndergaard.

Andujar, Frazier and others for Reds Luis Castillo

Interesting proposition, and I like Castillo. Also, the Yankees have looked at him in past searches for trades. I think the Reds understand they have the leverage in this scenario, so they will ask for much more. Hell, if they go for it, I think that would be great!

I don’t know that they have the others. Montgomery, Garcia, Florial…? Just don’t know if you can “buy” Castillo with quantity. I could see some mix of those guys (potentially including Andjuar and Frazier in the mix) for Darvish. I would take that.

Believe it or not, other teams are not lining up to trade for either Frasier or Andujar. They are both currently DH quality fielders. Every team in baseball has a guy or two with a good bat who is a butcher in the field. Those guys have no worth. Andujar maybe a little value, but not much. Those two would be minor pieces in a trade for an ACE. The Yankees would need to start that trade with a BIG bat (at least Andujar level) who can also play the field at at least an average level. I don’t see the Yankees as having one of those that they would be willing to give up.

Duffy for Andujar. No way that happens. Why is everyone high on Duffy. I don’t see it. I’ll consider Andujar, Frazier, Garcia for Darvish and Schwarber.

I don’t care for Duffy, particularly in the Bronx, and I think Andujar could be used in a trade for a much better pitcher (not alone, of course)

Cubs aren’t going to give up guys like Schwarber – and good luck even getting Darvish – if Yanks add something, it’s gotta come from a bottom-feeder like the Royals who are in rebuild mode (despite Dayton Moore speak).

Duffy’s a great pitcher… When he’s healthy. That’s always been his Achilles heel. He’s not a workhorse – only once has he broken 160 innings. As a #3 pitcher, Duffy’s a solid rotation option and by Yankee’s standards, cheap. He’s got 2 years left at 15 million a year. He only pitched 23 games last season and still managed 1.8 WAR and 115 SOs. At this point in Spring Training, good luck finding a better option.

If I were in Moore’s seat, I’d be on the phone. He has a deal sweetener in AL Home Run Champ Jorge Soler that the Yankees can’t scoff at.

Problem is Yankee’s already have starter’s with health problems. They don’t need another like Duffy to solve that. Boyd would be a better solution IMHO.
