          Both are known to be occasional divas. Both seem to suffer from injury from time to time. Both have pitched like the best in baseball briefly, but then never lived up to that season again.

          If any player is remotely talented & plays for the Mets he gets labeled a cant miss HOF.
          Ike Davis, Lagares, Conforto, Duda, d’Arnaud, Murphey, Mejia are examples of what Im talking about.
          Only DeGrom has delivered on his potential.

          Not even comparable bro… Harvey would still be elite without the Theroux syndrome thing. Unless you tell me Syndergaard would get that the two have nothing in common.

          extremely talented pitchers with injury concerns on the Mets that have to undergo TJ. what im saying is id worry they’d try to run him back out there full tilt too quickly and break him. his stuff would destroy coming out of the pen.

    Syndergaard and The Mets all spring were so busy running their mouths about the Astros, they forgot they have to perform well and stay healthy to even get in the playoffs which they haven’t since 2016. Once they win a WS, then maybe they can some smack.

      The Astros would have 0 WS if they didn’t cheat their way to their only one in franchise history. also what does this have to do with Syndergaards injury?

          @baseball_fan

          What a STUPID comment. So are you telling us that the only way teams should be allowed to complain is if they won a world series? That’s a little ironic as THEY won the world series after cheating.

          The Mets are just one group of voices angry at the Astros. I’ve read or heard comments from players with the Phillies, Yankees, Braves, Angels, Dodgers AAAAAAND the Mets and that was without even trying. I could probably google “Astros cheating scandal” combined with ANY team name and would find someone who spoke out against the Astros.

          I know those other teams have been talking but what have they done out outside of the Dodgers going to TWO WS and getting bounced by the Nats in the NLDS? They can talk but its a pretty bad look when youre talking trash but yet you cant put up when its time. For example, Little Trevor Bauer has been one of the most vocal yet hes busy throwing baseballs over walls and having a 4+ ERA. BTW, hes the same guy who cut himself with a drone before the 2016 WS. In the end, I am saying they should focus on their organization and winning before dishing out opinions.

          Explain how you think winning should be a prerequisite to complain about the Astros scandal? You don’t see the irony between the Astros cheating while they win and YOUR standard of not complaining UNTIL the OTHER teams win..a world series I guess?

          Also..I’m not going to assume you are an Astros fan. It could be that this is simply your opinion. But if you ARE an Astros fan, does it not ALSO strike you as ironic to slam the Dodgers of all teams, for not winning a world series?

      The Mets didn’t discover the Astros cheated. We ALL knew through the media. Commenting on other organizations is weak and players know this. Once you enter the spotlight talking trash, you better be ready to back it up.

        How do you know they won’t back it up??? Syndergaard had a 4+ era last year and won 86 games in the toughest division with the worst bullpen… if Diaz and familia do better the Mets could make some noise..

    I know this is a Thor article but why hasn’t Chris Sale gone under the knife yet? 2 other players had TJ surgery last Thursday and Dr. Andrews has his own private facility dedicated to this procedure, so the whole delay in elective surgeries due to COVID-19 doesn’t really apply here. If Thor gets his surgery before Sale, the Red Sox have some explaining to do.

      TJ is an elective surgery. Most states have stopped doing any during this time of emergency for multiple reasons.

          Hmm..that may be a more relevant point than many think. There are probably a limited amount of surgeons that MLB endorses and I could imagine insurance plays a part in this too. When several million dollars are at risk, it’s easy to see how this might be. I know we have some posters here who are more enlightened on this topic than I so maybe one of them would like to post some clarity on the subject?

    30 parks, I completely agree. And yes dark side, he did preform quite well, but that was when he was a novelty to the game. Things changed rapidly the past three years and now throwing 98-100 isn’t special. It’s becoming a requirement almost. So a pitcher like Degrom that can touch those numbers, sale, Cole, mad max, etc, they quickly learned how to pitch while throwing hard. Thor never learned how to pitch. To me, that’s why his injuries piled up (had to workout more in his mind to throw even harder since he couldn’t pitch) and that’s also why his stats have not lined up to his first couple of years, again when he was a novelty. If he learns how to pitch, then fine, he will be a stud, but until then he will be nothing more than a what if or a could have been.
