Lol all this love on Harper! Really though the guys clearly brings losing with him anywhere he goes! Nothing in Washington. Then leaves and what happens? Well you know the rest to that. Goes to Philly and same thing as of right now. Nothing. It’s almost is just solely about him and nothing more. If a general fan can see this clearly other teams do to. So to ask if team X should land Harper is like asking does team X wanna lose? Sure Harper can produce but his aura is just negativity. A black cloud over the team he’s on. MVP should be someone that without him the team wouldn’t win! Well, in all honesty, with him the team hasn’t won. So NO MVP for Harper. Heck really for none of the top 4. If it comes down to it Vlad is the closest thing there is to MVP if it comes down to it.

That has happened historically. Team loses star player then gets better.
I don’t know if the sample size is big enough. Just may be a noticeable event.
vikingbluejay67
Same goes for Mike Trout. That guy is a loser.
vikingbluejay67
Angels won’t win anything until he’s gone.

Salvador Perez gets my vote for MVP. Maybe the best offensive year for any catcher ever, plus his defense is excellent.
Fever Pitch Guy
LOL …. not even close to best offensive year by a catcher ever.
Long before your time there was a guy named Mike Piazza who put up OPS of more than 1.000 three times, including 1997 when he caught 139 games.

He may have had
a little help…..
Fever Pitch Guy
Agreed.

One third of Perez’s homers have come as a DH.

2009 Joe Mauer was much, much better.
Fever Pitch Guy
Agreed.

I think “a general fan” would look at what Harper does and say, “Wow, he’s a really good ballplayer who would make any team better.”
VonPurpleHayes
Washington didn’t get better because Harper left. They had a lot of talent and didn’t need to spend on Harper. They got hot at the right time, won the World Series, and have since dismantled the team because they aren’t a big market. The Phillies have vastly improved with Harper and if they win the division. it’s mostly because of him. Harper has been the team leader, hustles and plays every game, and is having one of his best seasons ever. Sometimes fans make up narratives in their head and stick to them. Your post is nonsense.

So this replaces Sunday chat?
I haven’t opened link yet…..

Ha I’m just laughing because Harper said he preferred Philly over SF because he wanted to be on a contender
VonPurpleHayes
He actually never said that, but please believe it.
Jean Matrac
As a Giants fan, I have to agree with @VonPurpleHayes.. It was the supposition for Harper’s decision since, at the time, the Phillies looked closer to being competitive than the Giants. But nothing Harper said had anything to do with one team being more competitive than any other, and he did speak why he chose Philly.

Kumar Rocker hasn’t signed? Will he go back to college or will he be a free agent?
