The Reds have activated outfielder Tyler Naquin from the COVID injured list, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic (via Twitter). In corresponding moves, TJ Friedl was optioned to Triple-A, and righty Daniel Duarte was placed on the 60-day injured list.
The 30-year-old Naquin will step right back into the leadoff spot while defending right field today. He was hitting .273/.333/.455 in 36 plate appearances before requiring a few days off.
Friedl saw limited playing time while on the roster, having gone 0-7 this season with a walk. Duarte, already on the 10-day injured list with right elbow swelling, simply moves to the 60-day, opening a spot on the 40-man roster. Duarte made just three appearances with the Reds this season.

Wow. Maybe 10 in a row was it. Doubtful, but maybe.

Losing 2/3 of your starting lineup when your team is really bad already usually leads to a ton of losses….oh and when your best players like Votto has hit like a pitcher doesn’t help either.
Senzel, Naquin, Stephenson, India, Solano and Moustaks have all been injured some or all of the year.

That clobbering from Voit was no fun. Im surprised that didn’t create more of an issue, especially in today’s game & with concussion syndrome prevalence.

LOL I thought the “l” in Friedl was a typo.

Big difference. They might score an additional run per game every other day to only lose by 5 instead of 6 runs.
This may be the worst MLB team ever.

I have been a Reds fan since 1970. I’m an old man. It makes me sad to read this.

Questions for Reds fans who watch consistently: Is Naquin capable of playing CF everyday? And, is Naquin as decent a player as he seems from the outside, given his ‘21 slash line?
Just curious, thanks Reds’ fans…

He’s always been a decent hitter (102 OPS+ career) and really good vs rhp 282 .334 .472. He’s never been able to stay on the field for very long
Yankee Clipper
Ah, okay. Thanks man. I was curious because he seemed like a really decent CF option for them, but never seems to be The FT option.
That makes a lot of sense though. I knew his fielding wasn’t his strongest suit but seems like a really strong hitter – the splits make a lot of sense too because he does some damage to RH pitching.
You guys have one hell of a pitching staff too. Greene, Lodolo, & some others coming up are going to be a nightmare for that division to face.

Naquin is a decent hitter but he’s injury prone and he struggles defensively. They being said I’d rather see him in Center and Senzel at SS than having Farmer playing every day.

I don’t get it, not that Friedl is going to ever be an all-star, but to continue to think Aquino will ever be anything more then a below average hitter is frustrating as a reds fan.
