The Brewers have activated catcher Omar Narvaez from the injured list, the team announced. To create the open roster spot, fellow backstop Mario Feliciano was optioned to Triple-A.
This is the third season that Narvaez has at least held a share of the Brewers’ primary catching responsibilities, including an All-Star campaign in 2021. This season, his offense has been down a little bit to a 93 wRC+ mark that’s certainly within striking distance of his 101 wRC+ career average. In 60 games, Narvaez is hitting .237/.324/.363 across 216 plate appearances.
Feliciano is the up-and-comer in the Brewers’ catching room, though he has not had much opportunity in the bigs. The 23-year-old appeared in just two games, going 1-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a strikeout. He has posted solid numbers in Triple-A, slashing .288/.346/.382 over 235 plate appearances.
Would love to see the Cards make a play for this guy in the offseason.

They seem to love keeping all their better prospects just that, prospects. There was a time when I justified them bringing up Davis to fill the 5th OF/backup CF spot because I thought it was a 1 time, IL cover..that was 2 months ago and he’s still there. There are better options, or at least the option to see if someone else CAN be better.
The last high prospect (non-pitcher) they’ve given a real shot is Hiura. Maybe they’re afraid everyone will turn out like him.
Hiura is quietly leading the Brewers in OPS+ this year. There’s still a future for him.
In very limited at bats because he K’s at such a high rate. Which people who always point out that OPS+ never think to mention.
Would love to see Frelick being bought up to take over CF and Turang to succeed adames next year. We can’t have adames and his pathetic on base % another year.
