We had some technical difficulties during this recording, so the audio is of a lower quality than usual. Apologies for that, but the source has been discovered and everything will be back to normal next week. This week, host Darragh McDonald is joined by Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors to discuss…
- White Sox fire manager Pedro Grifol and three coaches (1:10)
- Víctor Robles and the Mariners signed an extension (6:40)
- Dodgers move Mookie Betts back to right field and Amed Rosario is designated for assignment (12:15)
- Left-hander Jesus Luzardo won’t return to the Marlins this year and the club is getting rid of several front office members (17:20)
Plus, we answer your questions, including…
- Will Camilo Doval pitch again this season (or ever) for the Giants? (25:10)
- What ever happened to Archie Bradley this season? (29:20)
- Well, if your offense stops failing you, let the pitching failures take the spotlight! As a Braves fan, I am feeling quite trampled after all the high expectations that this season came with. Should I forget any postseason hopes? (31:00)

The audio quality wasn’t too debilitating. I did enjoy having Darragh sound like a chain smoker.
In all seriousness, it seems to me as though Amed Rosario would be an obvious fit for Atlanta. Could plug the gap at second until Albies returns before returning to the bench as a respectable pinch hitter and utility piece.
NashvilleJeff
Atlanta values defense up the middle. Rosario doesn’t bring any to the table. Merrifield is plugging 2B well enough until Albies returns in early September.
wagner13
Fair enough, but Rosario can also play the outfield: another area of current weakness.
And you can’t argue that Atlanta values defense there, since one of either Soler or Ozuna is currently being forced to start
SalaryCapMyth
Ozuna hasn’t logged a single inning in the OF. He’s Atlanta’s DH and thus far that is all. I think Soler was a move made out of necessity for a team that isn’t scoring runs. I imagine Atlanta values outfield defense about as much as the next team.
wagner13
I’m sure they do. My point being, it wouldn’t be a valid argument to suggest Atlanta would refuse to add Rosario for his bat because he’s not a good enough defender in the outfield
SalaryCapMyth
Okay sure. Kind of difficult to argue that. It’s not like he was a great fielder the first time they added him. Or the first time they added Soler for that matter.
NashvilleJeff
I didn’t argue that Rosario wasn’t added because of his defense in the outfield. I said “defense up the middle.” Rosario isn’t a better defensive option at SS or 2B than Arcia and Merrifield. He also wouldn’t even be considered as a CF option over Harris II.
NashvilleJeff
@SalaryCapMyth: wagner’s talking about Amed Rosario—not Eddie. Amed’s never been a Brave.
sad tormented neglected mariners fan
Ozuna in the outfield would be even worse than schwarber
How did ozuna used to play center and win a gold glove?

The excitement in Anthony’s voice is too much. In all seriousness Darragh usually sounds like he’s pulling teeth with these guys to get a few questions answered.

it’s time for the Pirates owner to follow the Marlins lead and fire everyone from the GM down to the lowest coaches

The White Sox didn’t win because they’re not a good baseball team. I’d hate to have a job where I was the manager but all my employees were hired through corporate but were all felons who failed their drug tests. Then fired because I couldn’t get my employees to perform
