August 31: Feigl has been outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis, according to his MLB.com transactions tracker.
August 27: The Pirates announced that both right-handers Jared Jones and Carmen Mlodzinski have been reinstated from the injured list. In corresponding moves, infielder/outfielder Ji Hwan Bae has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis while left-hander Brady Feigl has been designated for assignment.
Feigl, 33, is a journeyman who has been known in baseball circles for some time due to an odd coincidence, or series of coincidences. He and Brady Feigl got some attention a few years ago due to not only having the same name, but also having a similar appearance. Both had red beards, wore glasses and were the same height. Both are pitchers, though one throws from the left and the other from the right. Inside Edition did a story on the weird juxtapositions between the two five years ago (YouTube link), even getting the two to take a DNA test, though it turned out they aren’t related.
The left-handed Feigl was added to Pittsburgh’s roster on Sunday after over a decade grinding away in the minors and indy ball. He had tossed 51 2/3 innings in Triple-A this year with a 3.83 earned run average, 29% strikeout rate and 6.1% walk rate.
He was able to make his major league debut yesterday, though it didn’t go especially well. He allowed six earned runs in an inning and two thirds, allowing seven hits without recording a strikeout. While sitting on a career ERA of 32.40 was probably not how he dreamed it would go, he can at least say he made it to the show.
With the trade deadline now passed, the Pirates will have to place Feigl on waivers in the coming days. If he goes unclaimed, he won’t have the right to reject an outright assignment, as he lacks both three years of service and a previous career outright. If that comes to pass, he will return to his previous status, providing the Bucs with depth in a non-roster capacity.

Brady Feigle threw some 92 fastballs that means he could have thrown a 85 mph Roger Beshens Football Slider. That’s what the Pirates wanted to see.
Oscar Marinara in 2018 didn’t know a RB Football SLider if it hit him in the head. He later gets hired cause of learning it like Matt Blake and Ethan Katz and he still can’t communicate to his pitchers how how to throw it.
Look what’s happening to the Dback’s, Roger Beshens is in the house, the Dbacks clubhouse. Good things happening.
User 1286178995
You know, I speak a couple languages and have some understanding of a couple more, and yet I have no idea what you’re talking about here
RBFSSolution
If you don’t know something you can Google it.
Roger Beshens Football Slider. click images, click videos.
Feigle could throw that football slider and change his life.
Doesn’t look good.
User 1286178995
You’ll have to forgive me. With the amount of children like Wood posting here, I was thinking maybe it was an attempt to be funny
So I did google it
Beshens has been at it a long time, I’ll say that. He theorizes that guys like Kuhl and Taillon had TJ surgeries that may have been attributable to throwing the slider improperly. I can sympathize
There are numerous pitchers who could benefit by refining their technique, no?
YourDreamGM
You’re talking to the legendary Roger Beshens Senor. Make it fast though before MLBTR bans him for the 127th time.
RBFSSolution
It’s a theory, in Kuhls case it’s documented he just learned a new slider around late May and got injured in June.
Kuhl and Taillon are just 2 pitchers out of hundreds in MLB that throw his Football Slider. They wont even admit they throw that slider, Taillon calls it a sweeper now even though it’s the same pitch thrown from a lower arm angle, Taillon called the RB Football Slider a Whirly with the Yankees.
When a pitcher reads an unsolicited message from Roger Beshens 2 or 4 seam on label (or any on center grip) throw like football, stiff wrist. It will work for most the first time they throw it. For the ones that don’t understand it fully it would have been very smart of them to get back and say, “Hey Rog, your football slider is interesting but I’m just getting it to spin and hang can you tell me more about it?
The technique Roger Beshens teaches is correct. If someone throws it improperly that’s on the pitcher not RB.
RB can’t help someone if they are unwilling or inept.
Roger Beshens technique is perfect when understanding it fully. So once a pitcher knows that technique the smart question would be about adjustments.
Brandon Pfaadt should be learning what adjustment is keeping him from being elite.
RYNE Nelson could be striking out over 10 a game EASY if he threw RBFS 87-91 mph.
Jordan Montgomery has already proven with the Dbacks a few months ago that he does very well throwing the RBFS Baseball Savant has 000 batting avg struck out 4 of 6. Small sample but why on earth would anyone not keep throwing it.
Walston throws too many cutters and other stuff when he should be throwing over 30 RBFS every game.
Tommy Henry in Reno started throwing the RBFS in numbers around 6 games ago racking up nice strikeout numbers, He was unwilling to throw that RBFS much with the big club and paid the price.
There are numerous pitchers, now thousands since 2018, that just throw it the way Roger TEACHES and it’s helped elevate their game.
There’s no reason to get into no teach natural processes or does he pronate or,supinate.
The reason for that is the pitcher just want’s to know the Grip, Tilt and Wrist action, how to shape it, what makes it break a certain way….They don’t EVER need to know about gravity, seam shifts and NERD BS. to be ELITE.
User 1286178995
As an old time pitching coach, I see a great deal of relevance in what you say although I’m not sure why you’re so adamant about it
There’s a cottage industry in every sport where clinics and instruction are concerned
We all know this. And when someone dare find a better way of doing things he or she is almost automatically subject to being called a quack or that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Been there, done that
Is this what Beshens goes through? He’s been at it a long time, to be sure
Skenes throws a “splinker”. Another pitcher who was here briefly said he can throw 15 different pitches proficiently. I used to always be on the lookout for something that gave my pitchers an edge and embraced learning other methods. But I was in the minority. Now you have pitching coaches imparting what they learned as kids or via YouTube.
YourDreamGM
“I’m not sure why you’re so adamant about it”
Rogers living in a van down by the river. His way out is to convince people the Roger Beshens slider is > than the Mariano Rivera slider or the splinker or the sweeper or whatever else. But guys don’t care about their arm health as much as they do about getting strike outs and getting paid. Ultimate goal is to get paid. If Roger invented something that is amazing then he wouldn’t be on here trying to sell it. There isn’t any pitchers in here. If you have something news of it will spread through baseball so fast. Judging by your social media followers or in some cases follower, you don’t have anything to offer. You been here for years promoting yourself. It’s not working!
User 1286178995
Someday, you’ll have to fill me in on the background. I had never heard of Beshens before this
YourDreamGM
How about now before I go to bed! Why put off to tomorrow….
This has to be Roger himself. I never heard of the guy. He used to claim all these pitchers came to him and he taught them this pitch. Now it’s they should come to him. If you change even 1 guys career everyone would be coming to him. They would be talking about throughout baseball. He would partner with that pitcher and have a dvd or something so you too can learn!
Has had dozens of user names. They must ban him for spam. But anytime there is bad news for a pitcher Roger shows up. His football slider could have saved his arm! Feigl would have been a 6 time all star by now if he just went to Roger to learn the football slider. The secret key is your throw it like a football!
RBFSSolution
Roger Beshens has video of himself teaching Strom his Football Slider in the Dbacks Clubhouse in May 2024.
You think Roger Beshens cares about your BS?
RBFSSolution
RB doesn’t care about your nonsense.
He has video of himself teaching Strom his Football Slide in the Dbacks Clubhouse in May 2024.
RBFSSolution
Did you see the 6 minute video of Roger and Strom talking in the dbacks bullpen? RB has a very short clip of it.
Lovullo also acknowledges the RB Football Slider.
You tube Roger Beshens Football Slider, there’s the video. Very short clip.
RBFSSolution
Just you tube Roger Beshens Football Slider.
There’s Lovullo acknowledging the Football Slider and then
there’s a short clip of Roger telling Strom and 11 pitchers about it. There’s a 6 minute one, imagine that one!
RBFSSolution
Why would a ML pitcher make it known he learned Roger Beshens Football slider when if he does everyone will start throwing it and his own teammate or someone in the organization could beat him out.
You have no idea what you are talking about.
RBFSSolution
Every hear of Brent Strom? Strom invited Roger Beshens into the Dback’s clubhouse.
I doubt think Roger cares about if you ever heard of him.
RBFSSolution
Out of all the baseball people in the World what person would be best for Roger Beshens to communicate with?
Brent Strom, and It happened Feb 29 2024 in the Dbacks bullpen, May 4 2024 at Camelback Ranch and May 23 2024 in the Dback’s clubhouse.
All documented. All Roger Beshens ever wanted was something good. 6 years of ML pitchers not giving him any credit, a pitch called a sweeper in MLB is a joke, it’s the Roger Beshens Football Slider. Guess what, It’s all coming out soon. THe videos and audio came out unbelievable Good and clear, Thank God. Good For Roger Beshens.
RBFSSolution
Brandon MCarthy a MLB pitcher for 13 seasons asked Roger Beshens about how to throw his football slider May 29 2018 and then got back to him that he threw it June 2 2018 vs Nat’s. Told RB who he threw it to and who he struck out and it’s a WEAPON.
The funny thing is in the video Roger has with Brent is Brent talks about McCarthy and it’s hilarious what he says about him.
YourDreamGM
Unbelievable slider Roger. What a pitch. I hope you get your due credit. If you don’t that’s ok. You know they got it from you. That’s all that matters.
RBFSSolution
If someone sent you an unsolicited message how to throw a slider like Ron Guidry and you are a struggling pro, college or HS pitcher are you going to come out and say Roger Beshens helped elevate your game when other pitchers in your organization or team will Google Roger Beshens and learn how to throw it?
That’s like Kevin Ginkel, PUK, Thompson, Pfaadt telling all the Dbacks pitchers in spring training, yeah this is how I throw my slider, go give it a try. That would be pitcher suicide.
The Roger Beshens football slider is so successful, MLB had to come up with sweeper and then there’s driveline and the Wake Forest pitching lab. And your saying even if Roger doesn’t get credit it’s ok?
Roger Beshens is probably going to make a documentary of him and Brent Strom with a 6 minute video of him and 11 dback pitchers with Drabek and Baj all listening to him as RB tells the Dbacks pitchers how to throw his football slider, and as bonus coverage with video and pictures of him in the Dbacks clubhouse showing Strom his Football slider.
That’s just my guess. If someone is smart they will hire him in some capacity.
TheMan 3
I’m not surprised that Bae was optioned back to Indy. He’s been yet another disappointment of this team’s inability to develop young players from their potential to becoming major league hitters
It’s become a revolving door with this franchise
cbee
I’m not sure what is more of a death sentence… a quarterback getting drafted by the Browns or a hitter getting drafted/signed by the Pirates.
TheMan 3
Bae was I believe part of a trade and not drafted by the Bucs
PiratesPundit51
Bae was returned to the international market after the Braves did some malfeasance with his contract, as I remember. He wasn’t drafted, he was signed by the Pirates.
As for his potential, he never looked like an MLB player to me during the several times I saw him in Altoona. He does “fast” well, and that’s about it. If you want to properly criticize the Pirates, it would be better directed toward failed scouting and hubris that whatever shortcomings a player has can simply be coached away. I’m having a lot of trouble thinking of a recent position player that the Pirates gave up on – maybe Austin Meadows (though that was more of a ‘never-got-a-chance’ situation) – who just failed to develop here and suddenly lived up to his potential.
TheMan 3
Player development in this franchise is more than just coaching
User 1286178995
Careful, there are those who wish to place all blame on player development.
And while you certainly can think of players who once traded flourished under previous regimes, again, this team has yet to produce one impact player from their farm system
In true blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes fashion, you’d think that they’d have lucked into getting a kid who didn’t need much development. Odd, huh?
TheMan 3
And Henry Davis’ performance in last night’s game is evidence of the fact that this franchise continues its ineptitude of developing players
He swung at pitches nowhere close to the plate which is actually something most of these players do anyway
14 strikeouts isn’t going to accomplish scoring more runs than your opponents
YourDreamGM
“you’d think that they’d have lucked into getting a kid who didn’t need much development.” They just did with Skenes. Those prospects are rare. Think about one’s that come to find. Seriously stop reading and think about it. You can come back when you are done. Ok. So you probably didn’t come up with many names. If you did you have a very generous definition of didn’t need much development. Should be a lot of high picks. Good portion #1 overall picks. Unfortunately you didn’t come up with every #1 pick. Many drafts like the 2021 don’t have that player. If you are willing to take less ceiling you can expand your list. But Pirates can’t draft for floor. They can’t buy elite talent so they have to draft for it.
Cheringtons first round picks are improving. Gonzales built his own development training facility and improved himself. Davis went to facility and improved himself.
RBFSSolution
The Pirates like the Dbacks, Mariners and Orioles found out later than the rest get Roger Beshens Football Slider pitchers, Pirates got Skenes, Jones…Dbacks, Puk and Ginkle Pfaadt, Thompson, Martinez already thrown it, Mariners are loaded with Rb Football Slider guys. Once that’s understood, you teach it, develop it you spend the big money on the hitting side.
TheMan 3
Except that the Pirates will never spend big money on a hitter because they never have before and aren’t likely to change that
alwaysgo4two
Can’t always blame the program. Maybe once in awhile the player can’t make the proper adjustment.
wvsteve
So Williams still on team? Who’s going to play center? Guess Taylor is sticking around
Mendoza Line 215
Your guess is correct. No one wants to pony up for Taylor.
TheMan 3
Apparently Nutting doesn’t want to pony up for the remainder of his contract either this year
TheMan 3
And Taylor showed why no one wants him
Called strike three
Chuck from Uniontown
Every team has tons of prospects they are trying to develop. Most of them don’t pan out.
TheMan 3
except that the problem with the Pirates, most of their prospects don’t pan out
Chuck from Uniontown
What team has ever had most of their prospects pan out?
TheMan 3
name the last Pirate prospect who panned out and I don’t care about other teams, this is about the Bucs
Chuck from Uniontown
Jared Jones and Paul Skenes are a couple of nice 2024 products. The team has lots of guys contributing who spent a significant time on the farm. But most of them don’t pan out, that’s how the game works.
User 1286178995
Pitcher refinement is a different animal than building position players. It’s likely Skenes could have come directly from LSU to the Pirates and not missed a beat
Yeah, they’ve drafted and developed some pitchers here and on the farm. But unless those guys can hit a homer or drive in a couple runs every time out, how much does it matter?
How is it possible that one organization “rebuilds” in this fashion?
TheMan 3
position players, not pitchers
You do realize that this discussion is about position players right?
User 1286178995
That’s dependent on your connotation of the words “most of”
Currently, the Orioles, Guardians and Brewers would laugh at such a comment, as would the DBacks
Big time teams like the Braves, Dodgers and Astros seem to have depth at every level
I give Cherington credit for restocking a threadbare farm system. But between scouting and especially player development, there’s a real difference in what’s going on here. And it ain’t good
TheMan 3
position player development is so bad that Jack Suwinski is even worse at Indy than he was at the parent club
buns cherington
it sucks that you’re the most likely to reply every time for pirates stuff
TheMan 3
This is a Pirate thread
Chuck from Uniontown
@buns honestly, TheMan3 has the worst takes. Its hard to be so lame you make talking baseball not fun, but he does it all the time.
TheMan 3
except that this thread was in part about Bae being sent back to Indy and because he’s yet another failed prospect
I asked you to name the last prospects that were developed by the Pirates and your lame answer was pitchers
You’re just mad that you couldn’t answer my question and were called out on it
Chuck from Uniontown
The fact that you’re here to tell me Pitchers aren’t prospects proves that you really are just a walking bad take. It’s not personal, you’re just not fun to talk to.
TheMan 3
then put me on mute, or don’t respond to me, I don’t care
TheMan 3
I feel the same way about Williams, NewBucco. He’s a strike out machine that provides nothing for an offense that is in need of production
alwaysgo4two
Prediction…Bae will go back to AAA and hit .350. While he’s at it, maybe he should make an adjustment so that he can actually hit MLB fastball. I’m not holding my breath.
Mendoza Line 215
Both Bae and Williams need to put 15-20 pounds of muscle on and I said that last year.I am surprised that the strength and conditioning people did not tell BC and he told both of them.Maybe they were told but neither will ever have a chance to be a ML hitter without it.
Aussie_dodger
I really wanted him to do well. Baseball is full of fairytales. It’s one of of the things I love most, the romance of the game.
Edp007
Well he’s got the name for a fairy tale
Datashark
Solid performance and they let him go….6 ER in 1.2 IP they are not fighting for anything let him rebound off that.
User 1286178995
His post-game interview made it clear that he just wanted to make it to the show and was proud that after years of toiling around, he got a chance. Getting lit up as a member of the Pirates will be more quickly forgotten than it would as a Phillie. He just joins a long line of similar outings
Good for him in reaching his dream
wvsteve
Paying well again tonight. Team has no desire to finish the season on a good note
YourDreamGM
Good. A good note will be Nutting waking up and firing management.
TheMan 3
seems like they are doing their best to lose 100 games again or end up at a familiar position in the standings at last place
They are one win away from not losing 100 games and most likely they won’t but they certainly won’t have an even record or finish above .500 and for either, Nutting should get out the broom and clean house of management from top to bottom
bucsfan0004
It just wouldnt feel right if every active pitcher on the roster had an ERA under 10. *checking*… ok, Heller still riding a 10.92 ERA
Mendoza Line 215
He will get that below 10 before the end of the year.
YourDreamGM
And someone said bright eyes glass is 90 percent full. Look at this guys optimism.
TheMan 3
The Pirates lead the majors with bases loaded walks and Heller did his best to continue that dubious streak in last night’s game
YourDreamGM
It’s that time of the year. Time to ask yourself if you are better off now than 4 years ago. 2025 will be Cheringtons year 6. Let’s see. Still no CF, wait hold up, after 5 years of Cherington telling us Cruz was a SS and even saying it 10 days ago while 98 percent of fans said he wasn’t, well he is now a CF! Ok then still no SS. Well IKF for 1 more year. They could extend him I guess. Just a guy though. Rays would be trading him this off season. Just a guy at 2b. No 1b. No RF. Got a 3b though! Got him until 2030 or something. Can’t hit. Bad back. But we got him. I would say we aren’t really better off. About the same. Imagine how bad it would be if Huntington didn’t leave Reynolds Cruz Keller for us. If any team in baseball was smart enough to see how good Bart was. If we lost the lottery and didn’t get Skenes.
User 1286178995
Am I better off than I was four years ago?
Easily much better
Oh, the Pirates. Sorry
This is a funny question as there has been no place to go but up for some time. If the front office looks at their five year plan…which is now a seven year plan…and gleefully shouts that they’re on track, well, that’s part of the problem. They stagnate year after year. They fail to make decisions on who fits where, who stays and who goes, and continually sign bottom tier players to augment their incredible average group of prospects
Better off? The Pirates? Who can tell?
TheMan 3
well, they’re better at striking out than in the past 4 years, even better than last year when they set the team all time record in that stat.
They have had a revolving door at the catcher position and at first base..
They have no position player depth in the minors and the one power hitter they were counting on this year has been a major disappointment who’s even worse at their triple A affiliate
But there’s always next year or the one after or even in 5 years when their best pitcher is traded for prospects
TheMan 3
typical Shelton Sunday lineup except it’s midweek and with arguably the best pitcher in baseball at the helm
After striking out 3 times in last night’s game, Connor Joe replaces arguably the hottest right fielder on the team, De la Cruz
Gonzalez at second base is replaced with Alika Williams
And making his professional baseball debut in center field, Oneil Cruz
Both Joe and Williams suck but it’s becoming more obvious, Shelton really doesn’t want to win this game
User 1286178995
That’s just Uncle Sheltie at it again
On field temps will be over 100 so by all means, give some of the guys a break
My biggest concern with Shelton is the incredible lack of discipline he allows from his players. I mean, you don’t see it any level. This is yet another example of allowing subpar work to be rewarded and start/play, and behind Skenes of all things. You’d think that after getting lit up by the Cubs for two straight games, they’d go hard in trying to salvage a game
TheMan 3
McKinney, like Willlams, has no business being starters in this game and for the life of me can’t figure Shelton’s logic
If it’s due to the heat, why is Reynolds and Cruz playing?
If he wants to give guys a break, he can replace the starters mid way through the game
User 1286178995
As is often the case, it’s difficult for a pitcher to continually face division rivals and but them down, especially when there is little offensive support
And against this garbage pitcher, it shouldn’t just be Reynolds and Cruz making some hay
YourDreamGM
Maybe the snow flakes can’t take the heat. It’s baseball. You are mostly just standing around. Only ones doing work are the pitcher and catcher. I played football in the heat so I can feel for the catcher wearing equipment. Pitching though, not only could I take the heat but I loved it. Arm felt loose and fluid. Sweat for the rosen. The hotter the better imo. Except on fake turf. When I see the Steelers with all that gear and black jerseys I feel for those guys. Baseball players though nah. Half the time they get to spend in their lil dugout sipping on their fancy water. And with the Haines approach when they go up to hit the odds of them having to stand around in the bases is slim.
User 1286178995
As a coach and manager, I hated the heat. As a player—especially in summer basketball—I never noticed it. That’s really the key to any anxieties—keep the mind occupied. I was out there all morn and half the afternoon working on landscaping so I get your point. But when you’re just standing around, well, old or young you notice
Another thing that’s a problem is this reliance on A/C. Last time I had heat stroke I kept going in and out of A/C and into high heat. Play a couple hoop games outside. Go inside for A/C for an hour. Come back and work outside. ER doc explained that the body goes into a kind of shock
So yeah, I have a healthy respect for the heat and being smart. You can have it, my friend
YourDreamGM
In and out of ac doesn’t sound good. More dangerous for older folks. I wouldn’t want to do anything intense. But a 20 something standing around in the outfield ain’t too bad. I always thought of guys in basic training or firefighters putting on that heavy coat. Roofers. Road construction. They got it worse than me. It’s dangerous though. And hopefully military and employer’s are more careful than in the past on extreme weather days.
User 1286178995
You’re right although, going in and out of A/C, not hydrating etc isn’t good for anyone of any age
Down in Mexico, workers on resorts work landscaping from sun up to sundown. Day in and day out. Temps at 100. Or better
A lot of it is what you’re used to
YourDreamGM
Sounds logical to me. I always felt that way. I heard of people who don’t use the ac in their truck when working.
TheMan 3
I wish Cruz had more patience when there’s runners in scoring position, there’s no reason to swing at every pitch and lay off those out of the zone
Skenes has found his groove now
TheMan 3
someone should tell Williams not to leave his bat on his shoulder when being called out on strikes
By the way as a team the Bucs have now struck out in double digits and it’s only the 6th inning
They remain on pace to set the all time record for strikeouts in a single season.
It’s great that they scored 10 runs so far but it’s always the same players who provide the offense and the same guys who strike all the time
TheMan 3
I see that trip to Indy didn’t teach Davis about being patient instead of swinging at every pitch
SKH
YourDreamGM
He just needs more reps and time. How many catchers come up and instantly hit? They are going to coach him up and he is going to be a star. Wait until we get our Haines on him.
TheMan 3
Removing Reynolds for Taylor to play left field was a major mistake but Shelton isn’t exactly known for making good decisions
This team is about to blow a 7 run lead since Skenes left after pitching 5 pitches which I believe was also a mistake, because our bullpen had already been overwhelmed this series and Skenes could have easily gone another inning
Reynolds knows how to defend left field and it’s not Taylor’s natural position
User 1286178995
Remind me again how Chapman should be the closer
And the Reynolds substitution…I agree but strictly from a heat standpoint, it’s brutal out there
TheMan 3
Putting Taylor at left field cost us 2 runs because he doesn’t have the feel for that position and allowing him to bat when they’re down 4 runs was a major mistake.
De la Cruz should have pinch hit for Taylor just like Gonzalez should have hit for Williams
It’s almost as if Shelton wanted to lose
User 1286178995
There are high school managers who have a better grasp of how to use personnel
I didn’t think there was worse than John Russell in Pirates lore. I was wrong
TheMan 3
Lloyd McClendon was known for double switches in the lineup when he wanted to bring in a relief pitcher because he wanted to do whatever it took to win games
Granted, he never had a winning season, he still made decisions to help the team win
YourDreamGM
You guys and this heat. I thought old guys are supposed to be tuff. I’m older than majority of these players and I just played tennis in this so called heat. It was hotter on that court than on grass. And I wasn’t just standing around waiting for a ball to come my way. Does the military cancel basic training due to the heat these days? No construction this week, it’s too hot. Where these baseball players from? Sweden? Iceland? They never experienced heat before? I guess I’m the last man standing. Lots of women standing though, even better than standing, they were playing tennis and jogging in this heat. Might have to swap genders. Because you men are an embarrassment.
YourDreamGM
Fire that racist Shelton now! Pulls out the white guy so he can let the black guy die in the heat. Black lives apparently don’t matter to Shelton.
User 1286178995
Wow. Where did this come from? Not real funny, Dream
YourDreamGM
I agree. It’s not real funny. It’s not funny at all. Taking a guy out because of the heat so another guy could suffer! That’s awful. I am hoping you are wrong and it was just thinking Taylor was a defensive upgrade. Although why not put Taylor in CF where he has played this season, his career, won gold glove? Stupid move. Nutting needs to fire everyone. These clowns aren’t up to the job.
User 1286178995
TheMan3 made note of this long before the dam broke
I don’t know if Shelton thought he was doing his players a favor or what . But he might as well have brought Tellez in to pitch again. You just don’t do these things
YourDreamGM
I was tuff on you guys about the heat excuse. It’s dangerous. I just think baseball players got it easy, except on artificial turf, that is just brutal. And the old type from the 70s 80s 90s, I had the misfortune of playing in a few dumps with that around.
Dunno if football coaches still do the 2 and 3 a days in the heat but that’s brutal and dangerous.
User 1286178995
I give up.
I’ll say this, Williams playing SS would have been a different story
Pitiful
TheMan 3
I blame this loss solely on Shelton , for not allowing Skenes to pitch the 6th inning, for putting Taylor in left field, a position he isn’t comfortable at being in, for not using De la Cruz to hit for Taylor, who swung at pitches nowhere close to the plate, and for not using Gonzalez to hit for weak hitting Williams in the 8th with Triolo on first and the team in need of an insurance run
User 1286178995
Agree 100%
Bednar no longer can place his off speed and spin pitches. Batters sit on his fastball
But cmon. IKF is a shortstop? No range left, no range right and can’t make the play when needed? Seriously?
If we’re gonna crucify Alika Williams then this is ridiculous. Not saying Williams makes all three plays but I guarantee three guys don’t get on via ground balls
This is the guy they’re gonna work at short?

Easy for you to monday morning qb these decisions in your air condition home. Shelton was in the HEAT! He’s lucky to be alive let alone been capable of making sound baseball decisions!
User 1286178995
LOL!
That’s the explanation. Heat cooked his mind.
User 1286178995
That’s the kind of loss that should see Shelton and his entire staff out. Cherington should be right behind them
A long time since I’ve seen such a sickening loss
TheMan 3
I agree that IKF is not the answer at shortstop, and he’s not a good lead off hitter either
I know there’s many here that think Cutch should retire but he is a good lead off hitter for his ability to get on base, before he got hurt he was second on the team I think in drawing walks
On the other hand, IKF strikes out too much for a lead off hitter
Dream enjoys debating that using pinch hitting in either a close game or one out of reach but he would be wrong today
Bednar should be benched from the closer position and perhaps give Santana a chance
He can’t be any worse
The announcers said that this is the worse loss after leading by 7 or more runs since 1903
Their team 14 strikeouts didn’t help the offense much
But Shelton thinks Haines is a good hitting coach
excuse me while I barf
User 1286178995
I stopped watching closely in the years between Leyland’s departure and Clint coming on board
Not that Nutting will lose sleep but he lost me as a fan today. I hope others feel the same way
I refuse to watch a second of this pathetic franchise
YourDreamGM
When your starting lineup is full of guys who are soon to be dfa non tender and you have better guys on the bench I am all for pinch hitting. When Alika Joe Triolo is your bench then yes I am against pinch hitting. And obviously against Grandpal replacing Cutch. I love Grandpal probably more than anyone but he isn’t better than Cutch or significantly enough better to even think about or question the decision. And down 8 runs late in a game who cares. Odds of a miracle comeback are so low just let the guys have a day off.

Your one of the few. 2 million people will show up next year. They will keep paying their cable bill. Nutting doesn’t care if you watch just as long as you keep paying your bill. As more people cut the cord though he better start caring about his product because he is going to have to sell it.
User 1286178995
Well stated. My dad once said as much and after examination, he was right. As are you. Nutting makes his money from me whether I’m watching this display of T-ball play run amok or not.
User 1286178995
I’m taking it that since you were doing your Wimbledon routine, you didn’t see this game today, Dream. You owe it to yourself to find the replay. You’re a genius and all but you can’t tell me you’ve recently seen anything as sickening.
YourDreamGM
Didn’t see it. Soaking up the AC! I was careful though. Plenty to drink. If I felt any differences I would have stopped immediately. Heat never bothered other than sweat running down my face. I spent a lot of time in Puerto Rico and in Florida. But the North East heat is as hot as anywhere I been. I haven’t spent enough time in the South West to have a strong opinion there. But I’d say dry heat is still heat. My pro tip lots of shirts. I hate wearing a soaked shirt. Keep a rotation going.
I will watch the 10 min condensed game. I watched a decent amount games in August. I’m not a tv person. I feel guilty just sitting there watching. My exception is eating. Don’t want to just eat. So why not watch tv while I do it.
People getting rid of cable is a big issue. Did you watch the Kardashians? Deadliest catch? Yellow Stone? Well congratulations. You just funded Bob Nutting even if you never watched a baseball game in your life. Just about every cable package had the regional sports fee built right into your bill. And ESPN. Tbs. Fox. Those are all base channels. Large portion of a cable bill is sports. So nowadays they don’t make tv shows. All the good tv shows are on Netflix Amazon whatever. So sports teams have lost the revenue of people who don’t watch sports. Each year they lose more paying customers. So what they do? Raise the prices. Keep pushing the limits to find out how much these people really love our sports. And most of them keep paying. You watched sports all your life. What else are you going to do? Kids today and even adults like me never had cable. How do you get them into wanting to watch sports and pay for it? We will find out. But for decades everyone had cable and everyone paid these sports leagues even if they didn’t even watch sports.

I told you a year ago that all of this is true, but it’s not forward thinking
Within the next five years, all you will have in the three major sports is a game of the week as we did when we were young
ESPN is partnering to make a sports conglomerate that’s all streaming. End of story.
How they’ll package it is anyone’s guess, but think in terms of costlier than what you already have. And you’ll have no alternatives as the leagues are all in on this venture
Google it. It’s almost here
Big money has killed everything and all sports at the pro and collegiate level. They’re even working on high schools now
If you think it’s bad now cost-wise, just wait
And funny thing is, it’ll be huge
Younger generations who eat up fantasy sports and betting will be peeing themselves

The difference in the game was the Pirates were a bit hotter in the black jerseys. The heat got to them. It is harder on the elderly. Grandpal didn’t even bother appealing to 1b umpire. Great game though. Saw the 2nd hardest throw of the year! Mph everywhere. Cubs might have beat us in the run column but we got them in the mph!
Love this video a fan captured of Shelton in game managing. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ouau9SVVrBA

Seems to me as long as their is cable they will put their games on it. For cord cutters every team that doesn’t have a streaming service will soon. The main reason NY LA can spend 300 million on payroll is the local tv revenue. They don’t want everything to be national aka split fairly shared with Bob Nuttings.
I can see a world where Netflix Amazon Apple pay to have all Yankees or Dodgers games. Myspace or AOL will bid for Pirates rights.
Sell their product to as many people as possible. Is tonights game on 360 espn roku apple Amazon peacock?
User 1286178995
Do some research as to what ESPN is going to do. A couple other big corporate media giants will be with them
You’re thinking about cable is like those of us who never thought cell phones would completely eradicate land lines
The small morsels to entice people to buy their streaming service will come via games of the week.
Throwing some crumbs to entice the consumer. It’s the American way
User 1286178995
Hahaha. Yeah, stepping on the rake. That’s about it
Glad you saw plenty on mph
The heat got to everyone and somehow most of these guys were wearing long sleeves
YourDreamGM
I heard about espn fox tbs combining for a super sports streaming. Unless something new came out and they are buying local rights?
User 1286178995
Unless I’m wrong, they’re in cahoots with all major leagues and the NCAA
User 1286178995
I should say…unless you subscribe to the ESPN super stream, all you will have is a game of the week
For me, that’s fine. Screw that
