“Not sure what the answer is, but having a struggling hitter [Rutschman] as a DH-only guy doesn’t seem to be it.”

LOL
Yes the Birds FO has turned into the “Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight’.
I wrote late last offseason that the plan appeared to be that the O’s would be sellers going into the deadline. But the total collapse came and with it the owner has gotten active. Not sure he’ll allow the current FO to make any trades, although with the expiring contracts he’s in a tight spot.

Saw a comment from Buster Olney at ESPN earlier today as he reviewed Kyle Stowers’ season thus far with the Marlins this year:
“He is exactly what the Orioles thought they were getting when they signed Tyler O’Neill to a $49.5 million contract this past offseason.”

Mr. Rubenstein has a lot of problems his first year as owner. Hopefully, he’ll be able to look back 2 years from now and laugh about it.
P.S. Am a big backer of Mr. Rutschman and a critic of the O’s head pitching coach. But facts are facts…..
FA signee Charlie Morton has been hammered pitching for the O’s this year. But in his last 4 appearances totaling 15.1 innings, he’s given up 4 earned runs. The commonality: They pulled Adley from catching him in those 15.1 innings.
Have often written that the top responsibility of a Catcher is to handle the pitching staff and call a game. Have also written that Adley has regressed since his first year with the team.

It may well be best that Adley is moved. The best teams that are successful rehabbing Catchers start with the Brewers; than the Rays, Guardians, Giants, and possibly Royals. The Padres badly need a quality Catcher, although their work with Catchers has been spotty…and of course their top prospect is a Catcher. Maybe the Philles if Realmuto leaves.
Anyway, when the offseason comes and the O’s FO is solidified one way or the other, Adley’s situation may well be the top priority to deal with. They have to rebuild their pitching which may well take a few years. Their Catchers will be a big part of that.
Old man yells at cloud.
2nd chat in a row with one Braves question answered, and it was a HOF question….we really have fallen
I believe their were 5 Reds questions, has to be a record.
