11:09PM: The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey provides a few more details on the Ryan negotiations, and top-100 outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia “was in the mix to be in the deal.” Overall, however, the Red Sox weren’t willing to give up more of their highest-rated prospects, and weren’t willing to trade any outfielders from their Major League roster.
5:10PM: Ryan isn’t heading to Boston, as MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo hears from a source that the two sides were “not even close” to completing a trade.
4:42PM: After missing out on Merrill Kelly, the Red Sox are making a late push for Minnesota’s Joe Ryan, reports Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Francys Romero suggests the Twins are seen as likely to deal the right-hander amidst what has become a shockingly big sell-off.
Aside from the usual rental players, the Twins have dealt one of the game’s best relievers in Jhoan Duran and their most expensive player in Carlos Correa. With less than 20 minutes remaining until the deadline, could they move one of the game’s better starting pitchers in Ryan? The 29-year-old owns a 2.82 ERA and 23.8 K-BB% in 121 1/3 innings and is under team control through 2027.
The Red Sox shockingly traded Rafael Devers to the Giants in June, but they’re still in position to secure a Wild Card spot. Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow has taken a few big swings but has thus far only landed Steven Matz.
TIC TOC BETTER WATCH THE ⏰️ CLOCK!
Craig, I’m begging you, do something. Anything
Well, not anything. But definitely pony up for Ryan
Dustin May is something and better than Matz
Well we got Dustin May, but we need to add Joe Ryan, I love Duran but I’m willing to move him to have a really solid rotation…
Just landed Dustin May from the dodgers
The just got May from the Dodgers hope that thrills the redsox fans. Cheap a$@ ownership
Don’t complain to Twins fans about cheap ownership.
I’m talking about the redsox
The Red Sox are usually around the luxury tax threshold and are paying luxury tax this year. Not cheap.
Redsox are 12th in spending when they were winning they were always in the top 5 so yeah there cheap
I think the cheap comes from unloading Devers and not making an impact move at the deadline. I have to admit the two players we got were disappointing and definitely not what I had hoped for. Glad Duran was not traded, but don’t think the moves put us in the best place to make the playoffs.
We don’t know what other teams were demanding of the Red Sox. They may have turned down deals that would be very bad for them to make.
Relative to the major competitors, it doesn’t seem like they did much. They have a wealth of assets in the farm system as well as the money saved from Devers. I had higher hopes for more significant acquisitions.
That may be true, but it doesn’t mean a good deal for the Red Sox could definitely be worked out.
MLB is a business, and entertainment, but it’s an investment business, not a giveaway to make Beantown fans happy !!!
That may be true. If they were looking for pitching prospects, that is not something we have an abundance of aside from those who were just drafted. We will see how it all plays out, I am unsure if May was even worth a top 5 prospect.
That is the worst logic. They traded Devers and saved $250 million and spent it on Matz and May? The luxury tax is not a barometer, it is what your competition is willing to do that you measure yourself against. look at what Houston and San Diego did, both smaller markets and less valued franchises. henry is cheap in comparison.
Aren’t the fans part of the investment? Who fills the seats and pays to see the games on their big screen television? As a Sox fan I want them to have a growing fanbase, which requires them being competitive. They have been having a solid year and look like a team that has huge potential, unfortunately several of the competitors just got much better.
So, payroll and luxury tax are not a barometer? Hilarious! Is that you Scott Boras? The Red Sox CBT payroll is now at $243.9M per Cot’s without May’s salary added which is above the $241M luxury tax threshold. Sorry, I don’t think that qualifies as cheap. Let’s see how many teams actually pay luxury tax this year.
legacy.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/al…
Being from LA and watching him over the years, he is not worth a top-5 prospect, especially since the Sox will only have him for two months. Tibbs and? packaged together shoukd have gotten them a better, controllable SP, like Merrill Kelly?
That is exactly what I was thinking. You don’t give up a top 5 for a rental that is not even above average.
These are the Boston Red Sox (or at least they used to be) they can and have spent to win in the past. They now CHOOSE not to spend with their competitors. Since we no longer have Devers payroll number, do you think they will slash ticket prices/parking and all that stuff next year?
As far as me speaking for Boras, it sounds much more like you are speaking for Henry as an apologist for his action, or in this case inactions.
Spending $240M is clearly not inaction. The Red Sox choose not to sign older free agents to long, expensive deals. I like that as those deals often go bad. It looks like they also refuse to get ripped off in trades. I like that too. I think the Red Sox are spending enough to field a very competitive team. I recommend you go root for a team you like and stop wasting your time.
Tibbs is not a top 5 Red Sox prospect. He’s maybe in the 10-20 range. He is struggling in AA with a .589 OPS and striking out about 30% of the time.
You are so hung up on how much they are spending, but not how much less they spend than their competitors to compete. BTW, is the suit you wear a hand me down from John himself?!
I am not hung up on how much they are spending. I don’t bring it up. I do think it is inaccurate to say their spending level is cheap and respond when I see that. Do you have anything to offer beyond negativity and insults?
Knuckles: Regarding spending with your competitors to compete: There are many examples over time that show that it is not necessary to spend as much as your competitors in order to get similar or better performance. This year, for example, the Red Sox are only 1.5 games behind the Yankees and the Blue Jays are 3.5 games ahead of the Yankees despite the Yankees significantly outspending them. In the NL, the Brewers have a better record than the Dodgers, Mets and Phillies who are spending MORE THAN TWICE what the Brewers are spending.
On mlb.com he is listed as number 5 on the list of the Red Sox prospects.
Tibbs was no. 10 on soxprospects.com. Fangraphs had him at no. 14. In any case, his rankings will be dropping significantly if he continues to fail at AA. He may drop out of rankings altogether. I think they may have just sold high on Tibbs.
Obviously the majority of prospects never develop into stars, so who knows. They were both young enough that they could go either way. It is just the idea of giving up two top 30 prospects for a rental player who may not have provided any improvement to the current rotation was questionable. It will be interesting to see how May and Matz perform for the Sox.
Do NOT trade Duran to get him.
Just don’t trade Duran!
100% agreed, that cannot happen!
I suspect it will be Duran… and more.
After the Twins just tore down half their roster today I don’t think they’d event want Duran. They are not the type of team to aggressively re-tool, so their moves today sent a pretty strong signal they don’t envision being competitive next year, either. So I’m sure they want younger guys than Duran coming back if anyone talks them into trading Ryan.
No, they got Abel and Bradley, so with Ryan Lopez and Ober they figure to have the best rotation of any bullpenless, Banjo hitting 90 loss team in 2026
Nah, won’t happen.
They have a top 5 farm…no need to include duran
Not anymore they don’t
I’m sorry but I would much rather keep The Password, who looks the closest to Manny Ramirez that I’ve seen since Manny, than a ~29yo Jarren Duran who is about to demand $25+ million a year
Jarren Duran who is about to demand $25+ million a year
==========================
If by “about to”, you mean 2029, then you are correct.
If it takes Duran to get a #2 starter. do it and bring up the password.
As much as I love Duran I can’t disagree. I don’t have a problem with what they did. I like their chemistry and their group. If they get hot maybe they make a run. I wouldn’t bet a lot on it. Lack of depth though.
The farm will be no more if so
The team is all young.
The Twins transformation after today is going to be legendary. Not necessarily in a good way, but legendary nonetheless
New record for number of Twins successfully separated
are they sure they don’t want a gently used verlander?
Like new, and lovingly cared for…at least that what the salesman called the 1992 civic with 372,000 miles
They have had him running laps backwards around the stadium to take some mileage off his legs
that is the greatest idea for a promo video lol
I always wonder how many deals almost happen but the teams run out of time. Not much time left to make a deal.
C’mon Craig, let’s not let the Twins going of business sale go to waste
If the Sox and Breslow swing & miss AGAIN, Breslow and Co., all need to GO. This is embarrassing 😳!!!
they are doing what Henry wants. new owner please.
Arias Password and Clarke. LFG
Can we interest you in Dylan Cease instead?
No.
That’s about as late as you can go without being too late!
Does a millennial run this team?
OK, here we go…
Please don’t move Duran….
Like actually treating the deadline as if we are in contention and have prospect and cash capitol??? That’s be a treat
Twins gutting all the quality talent. Leave behind all the platoon DH meh guys. Buxton should demand a trade if Ryan is shipped out
Please Cash, go for Ryan!
Why? At Twins’ current rate its reasonable to expect they’ll release all arb eligible players after tonight. You can have him for free.
I think they would want someone with more contract control than duran.
With the Twins current track record they will probably do him for Vaughn Grissom straight up
Dustin May to Sox per passan
What?
No details yet on return
Are you an AI bot
No sir. Just a die hard Red Sox fan. Why do you ask?
Lol sorry, I thought I was on the May post and that you were regurgitating the headline
No worries
Red sox are in on everyone..until its time to pay and they become a runner up with a “we tried” award
Switch – DAMN THE TWINS for not aligning with the Red Sox!
Laughed out loud at the “they’re not close” update. Yeah, we all saw that coming. Nice little cherry on top of this turd sundae of a trade deadline. Great job Bres!
Dirty – Window dressing, just like I suspected.
Tomorrow it will be Kennedy and Breslow bragging about how they upgraded their pitching and catching depth.
Yup! They’ll be out making the usual rounds to scold fans for daring to expect anything bold or imaginative out of them.
I heard the Twins didn’t even ask Roman
Just K Campbell , Kutter Craw and a C+ prospect..
If Breslow balked at this, Jokes on the Sox
Dirty – It just amazes me year after year they pretend to have interest in impact players at the deadline, and inevitably end up with the unwanted leftovers. Year after year. Not a surprise they are viewed as a laughingstock by the other teams who probably roll their eyes when they see Breslow calling.
And yet another 5 ERA Dodgers pitcher trying to work his way back from a long absence? Seriously?
And now they are $1.6M over the CBT threshold …. can’t make this stuff up!
Correction, only $600K over the CBT threshold ….. wow!
this
Sox getting May from Dodgers
Regarding Suarez…Breslow, “We were outmaneuvered by the Mariners GM.” So, why don’t we hire the Mariners’ GM?
PLEASE HIRE THE M’S GM
Instead of Ryan Sox get dustin may
Zzzzz
May does become the 4th best starter on the team now. Buehler can move to the #5 spot. We just have to hope that Bello & Giolito can maintain their recent success for another of couple months.
With that said, I’m highly disappointed in their lack of deals at this trade deadline. They had the pieces to get a lot done and they let Seattle, Texas, Yankees and others outmaneuver them.
Dotty – Since June 3rd May has a 5.95 ERA and is averaging only 5 1/3 innings.
He’s gotten worse over the past couple months, not better.
Matz and May and start to pray.
let – Did you see the Breslow presser last night? Not very often when a CBO publicly states other teams “didn’t like our players”.
Whether that meant Red Sox prospects are overrated, or Breslow lowballed teams with less than fair offers, who knows.
Fever – So the Drohan and Tibbs for Ryan offer didn’t make the Twins mouths water?
let – It made their mouths dry from all the laughter.
Sorry Dottie…. Seattle did well, but Texas gave up way to much for Kelly and the Yankees… everything they did shows massive desperation. They trade about half of their top 30 prospects… for a “super bullpen”…. LMAO they were just trying to keep up with the Mets who keep owning them and are 5 steps ahead of the Yanks every move.
They spelled Ryan, M-A-Y
This franchise is a joke
I hate this
Fanatic – Now 7 trade deadlines in a row.
Insanity is expecting them to do anything different.
The Devers trade was their big move of the season. If nothing Breslow did address the bullpen in adding Alcala, Hicks, and Matz. I imagine May ends up out there eventually too
It’s funny because as I remarked to a friend I was texting, I set my expectations as low as I could – another Rich Hill reunion – exactly to avoid being disappointed by them doing nothing at the deadline….and they still somehow found a way to disappoint me. Almost impressive how unimpressive this front office is.
Dirty – They had been saying for over a year that they wouldn’t try to win until at least 2026, so in that respect they have kept their word.
But it’s got to be demoralizing in the clubhouse for ownership to not believe in the team yet again even though they are once again in a playoff spot at the deadline.
I’m sure Cora is pissed and his relationship with Breslow is even more strained now, but this is probably what the front office is thinking:
1) Crochet will be pitching significantly less in the second half than the first
2) Mayer will likely be out for a while (wait for the announcement tomorrow)
3) Bregman is far from 100%
4) Rafaela, Toro, Romy and Narvy have been spiraling downward
5) There’s nobody left in the minors to give them a spark unless KC has a dramatic turnaround
6) The league is so bad it guarantees the Sox will be in contention through at least mid-September
7) At the end of the day, the team will play just good enough to make a nice profit for ownership.
8) The ugly green & yellow uniforms alone will help turn a nice profit.
9) A portion of the fanbase will be happy just because the team finishes with a winning record
So really there’s no motivation for Henry & Company to GFIN.
You are at least mostly right, but the team has shown they are good enough in a wide open AL. Good enough to say forget 2026 being the plan, we can afford to get these guys some bigger guns now to help down the stretch.
Refusing to adapt the strategy to reflect the reality that this is a good team *now* is asinine. Who knows what could happen next year? We could have far worse luck with injuries, etc and then the grand plan to compete in ’26 is out the window. The future isn’t guaranteed. I’m not asking them to go all in but all the teams around us in the standings just got significantly better today and they can’t even make just one serious acquisition to keep up? That is no way to instill a winning culture with the kids if the message is always going to be that the FO is always and only going to be holding out for a tomorrow that never comes.
Dirty – Absolutely I agree with you. I’m not defending the front office, I’m just presenting the likely reasons why they did virtually nothing at the deadline to improve the team.
The Red Sox have NOT said they wouldn’t try to win until at least 2026. This would be big news and repeated often like the Full Throttle comment if it were true.
Which of the three outfielders would you have given up for Joe Ryan?
How would you replace that bat in the offense that’s so desperately needs more runs?
Gary – Sox have four outfielders right now. Just because Rafaela is playing some 2B doesn’t mean he’s not an outfielder. I think he’s a decent defensive outfielder too.
To answer your question, if Cora insists on benching Abreu against LHP then I’d say trade him. We know they won’t trade Roman or Rafaela.
It’s all I’ve ever known. I guess I keep a youthful optimism that someday things will change
Too bad you didn’t get to experience 2004 then
I didn’t even experience 13!!!!
Well, the ’04 deadline was wild with the Nomar trade and the very last second trade for Roberts
Fanatic – I respect that, whatever works. As long as the inevitable disappointment doesn’t bring you down. It does for me, that’s why I prepare myself.
Fanatic – 2018 was probably the best season in team history, so at least you experienced that!
Rsox – Just imagine if the ARod trade wasn’t rejected by the union …. no Manny or Lester would have meant no titles in ’04 or ’07..
That was one magical year
I don’t see Boston fans embracing ARod and that year Magglio Ordonez only got into 52 games with the White Sox so I agree. Who knows if ’13 happens either
Fanatic – Well the Sox have repeatedly stated they will begin trying to win again in 2026, so maybe there is another good season coming.
Law of averages says they can’t all be bad seasons, right?
No, they haven’t repeatedly stated that. Good Lord.
Because despite Baseball America and Red Sox cheerleader Keith Law hyping up scrubs like Arias and “the password” they really aren’t that good.
I agree 100%. I do think that the Password will be able to hit for some power (20-25 HRs), but Arias is extremely over hyped. They should have sold high on him. A package of Arias, the Password and Tolle should have been enough to interest the Twins for Ryan. Then they could have added a 4th prospect to get the deal done.
What’s the issue with Arias?
Nothing. The screen name tells you what the problem is
So: Yankees, Mariners, and Rangers all added multiple significant pieces. Red Sox added Matz and May. Sigh.
Guess it’s yet another year we will not be finding “alignment” with the playoffs…
Meow – You forgot the catching upgrade ….. Tromp!!!
I have to believe the Twins shot higher than Duran in talks for Ryan. Roman or Marcelo had to be asked for
Rsox – I would have jumped at Marcelo for Ryan.
Small market Sox activity continues
Spotrac still lists Ryan as a Red Sox as of this moment lol what a joke
Can confirm. Still there.
bcjd – Holy crap, and he’s still listed at 8:30PM EDT!!! Wait a minute …. that means the Sox are only $600K over the CBT threshold, wow!!!!
This must be why that tool Carrabis insisted a second trade was happening today and that they were very close to getting Ryan.
Hope this shuts him up for good, but I doubt it will as long as he’s on the FSG payroll.
I can’t believe the Twins weren’t eager to trade a frontline starter for overhyped players like Mayer and Campbell. Genuinely shocking
Minnesota probably asked for Mayer and Anthony in the swap lol.
Fitting that the Twins only have 2 players left on their major league roster
deep – The Twins highest paid player is now Vazquez, and his salary is more than double the 2nd-highest paid Twins player! Hahahahaha!!!!
And yet another awful trade deadline from the Red Sox….. we go backwards and other teams go forward… my guess we will ‘settle’ for wildcard and if we don’t get that the answer from ownership will be “Hey, at least we didn’t come last”…. the ownership is a joke and not a funny joke at that.
I don’t know how our ownership can watch every team in our division except the O’s make real moves, and somehow think landing Matz and May is good enough. Sell the damn team already if you’re not going to invest in it.
#BreslowBlows
Ugh! Well… There is always next year.
GM – You don’t hear about the meteor heading toward earth? ;O)
Unfortunately that’s not until 2032, and even worse it’s not even gonna hit Earth 😮💨
Now we get to hear 3 weeks of Kennedy blaming the fans and saying we were in on Joe Ryan.
But you didn’t get him a-hat.
The Sox need to extend Alex Bregman over the next few days in order to prevent full scale riots by Red Sox fans. They were well positioned to add meaningful players at the deadline and ended up making less additions than the Anaheim Angels did. No excuse for that! They have to generate some positive news with the fans and the only thing left that they can do is to extend Alex Bregman and/or to sign Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer to long term extensions right now.
Dotty – Nahh ….. too many casuals who are content with Roman, Duran, Crochet and Rafaela.
Roman is too smart to extend for a discount, and we don’t want to extend Mayer with his injury history.
Shockingly, I’m not shockingly surprised, shockingly.
As a Red Sox fan, while it may be disappointing that a big deal was not made, realistically speaking, this is probably not a WS team with only one stud pitcher coming over.
This is really a team that is built for next year and the years to come, with a ton of really young talent. If they can successfully transition Mayer to 1B, they are really strong team on paper next year with an entire off-season to wheel and deal for top pitching talent with a plethora of assets to trade.
Guaranteed other GM’s were trying to use their wealth of assets against them to make the trades more one-sided than they need be. It’s way more difficult to say “No” and not short change the future than it is to say “yes” just to appease the fan base (who primarily wants to win now – and not so much looking out for the future of the club).
Pop – Mayer at first base? He’s very solid at 3B, SS and 2B …. and you want him at 1B? Ummm ….. no, not gonna happen. It will likely be Casas or KC at 1B next year.
As for young talent, we’ve heard that so many times.
In 2018 it was like “With Mookie, 10D, JBJ, Vaz, Xander, ERod and Devers they will be in the WS every year”.
In 2007 it was “With Pedroia, Ellsbury, Lester, Dice and Beckett they will be in the WS every year”.
How did that work out for them?
Fever – they have already been working Mayer at 1B. He is a fantastic all-around athlete with excellent footwork, good height and length, which plays well at 1B. Eventually Campbell will be back up at 2B and Mayer could lock down 1B for years to come. I think Casas gets traded this off season. I think Duran gets traded in the off-season, especially with the solid 2nd half he is having. He is the guy that fetches them a stud pitcher in the off-season.
No team is in the WS every year, but two every ten years is pretty solid of late. Lot of owners would take that.
@Pop
Campbell stinks at 2B though and has switched to playing 1B exclusively in AAA, whereas Mayer looks like a natural at 3B, SS and 2B already. At the time KC was sent down he was ranked as the worst defensive 2B in baseball. I don’t believe he’s as bad of a 2B as his first few months suggested, but likely bad enough for the Sox to no longer envision him there long-term.
So whether it’s KC at 1st and Mauer at 2nd, it really doesn’t matter. They are all athletes that will find an “everyday position” and start to be consistent with the bat.
Bregman / Story locking down the left side and one of the best OF in the game (even without Duran).
It’s a good problem to have.
Add financial flexibility with Devers gone where you can spend that money on a young second ace, and you start to look like a consistent contender for the next 3-5 years, maybe more.
Wrong on almost all you suggest here…especially Mayer at 1b.
Pathetic joke of a trade deadline for the Sox. They easily could have topped some of these other team’s offers, such as the Rangers offer for Merrill Kelly. Dustin May and Steven Matz… wow.
You are a fool if you think they could have topped what the Rangers gave for Kelly…. do you even know what they gave up? Doubtful…. Keep complaining and saying more garbage basically explaining you have no idea what you are talking about…..SMH
C’mon Craig, go after him! Let the Twins reset themselves.
The red Sox really tried hard to get Ryan. I’m hearing they even said “pretty please” and “I’ll be your friend” to the twins. They drove a hard bargain.
Must not have been willing to sell Anthony or other top prospects.Arias or Garcia. My question is what will they do with them.I Feel Garcia is going to want to be promoted but there is no where for him to play.
Ryan is a FA after this year, so the Twins will give him a QO and net a compensatory draft pick after the first round.
It shouldn’t have been hard for the Sox to top that. It’s pretty baffling they couldn’t get it done.
Joe Ryan wasn’t a free agent until 2028 so it was going to take tremendous amount to get him what would you say if Minnesota demanded Anthony plus for him?
Wrong he’s not a FA after this year.
Another mis informed Poster… SMH
Sox ownership is trash.
Yes. Yes they are.
Yes they are the same ownership okay trading betts for a bag of sunflower seeds
I think you just go to them and say, no big 3, no Tolle, pick any four prospects you want
That sounds like a lot of restriction, but depending on who they like they can grab three top 100s that way, from a system that is suddenly flooded with pitching.
Oh well
And it probably would have worked, since the Twins appear to have approached negotiations from a “we’re happy to take whomever you’re willing to give” mindset this deadline
They should have INSTANTLY offered Arias on top of Garcia. Looks like that might have gotten it done with other pieces too.
If the twins don’t spend in the offseason then they’ve entered a 10 year rebuild orioles style
That the front office didn’t go big is only annoying to me because once again their PR department was in full spin saying that there were major moves coming… and AGAIN they didn’t buy.
What really angers me is that if you are not going to buy for real then you should be selling off pending free agent contracts.
For the THIRD year in a row, the sox did NOTHING; didn’t add major pieces or sell off expiring contracts.
And on top of it all, they are over the threshold again with no hope of going past the first round in the playoffs (which they will NOT reach).
So… I end my rant with the same trade deadline statement I have made the past 3 years… This is a .500 club, and John Henry somehow makes me miss the effing Yawkey Years!!!! At least then if they made the playoffs it was an accident and we loved them anyways.
Eff John Henry.
Steven Matz and Dustin May — Brezbot’s Deadline Day Booby Prizes.
Boy I wish I was a fly on the wall( granted a large one) to hear what Minny wanted…. Any prospect or 2 plus anyone from outfield minus RA I would have been okay with..Ryan is controlled for a few years.. wasn’t going to get done offering two Fenway franks and a autographed 18’ Brais jersey…
I hear all this talk about Ryan from Minnesota, but they wanted one of the major league outfielders.
The offense is already struggling so you plug in a starter, but can’t score runs?
How do you win there?
Actually we needed another bat lol. Not subtract one. Look how the team has been playing the last three weeks.
You can’t lose a guy from that marginal offense unless you’re plugging another one in at say, first base.
I understand why trade wasn’t made yesterday. The off-season, of course could be a different story, but you don’t subtract from that offense, which struggles to score runs against good teams. It’s barely passable as it sits today.
Sox brass didn’t want to make a bold move to strengthen the playoff run to require Ryan who would’ve easily spent into the 2 spot.
Jays , stinkies and Mariners all did what they had to do for a long run
Prospects are just prospects. At this time if a major leaguer was also wanted back they have in my mind Casas and Mayer or Toro with low level prospects to give back.
Your proposal would’ve been laughed at.
“Low level Prospects plus Tristan Casas or Abraham Toro?”
That’s not gonna get it done.
So much for Breslow’s insistence that “every prospect was made available”
Every prospect was made available.
So many Red Sox “fans” have no idea what they’re talking about, and just love to bash the team at every opportunity.
The issue was the major leaguer Minnesota wanted in return.
Specifically, one of the three outfielders.
The Rangers got Merrill Kelly who the Sox were in on till the end.
The Rangers gave up their #5,7 and 9 prospects for Kelly who is 36 yr old rental.
If the Sox gave up their #5,7 and 9 prospects, that would equate to (depending on which site you use for prospect rankings) Perales, Witherspoon and the Password.
How many of you clowns would make that trade?
The Twins wanted Peyton Tolle, Kristain Campbell and two other top 30 prospects for Ryan ….. or Tolle, the two Top30 prospects, and either Duran or Abreu… How many of you clowns would make either of those deals?
Anyone that says Yes… go freaking root for the Padres or the Yankees who traded away 1/2 of their Top 30 Prospects for a couple questionable Closers and utility players.
