The Padres have designated Steve Garrison for assignment, according to Corey Brock of MLB.com. The move was made in order to create space for outfielder Mike Baxter.
The lefty, who will turn 24 on Sunday, was acquired by the Padres from Milwaukee in a package for Scott Linebrink back in July of 2007. Garrison got knocked around in five Triple-A starts this season but has a career 4.05 ERA with 7.4 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 at the Double-A level.
But did they DFA Mr. Hat?
“Garrison, a switch-hitter, was acquired by the Padres in a package for Scott Linebrink back in 2007.”
While it is true he is a switch-hitter, he’d probably tell you that he’s a left-handed pitcher.
POINTLESS POSTS FTW!
Very meta.
Padres win Padres win.
Steve who? I’m a Padres fan and never heard of this dude
Garrison was aquired along with Thatcher and Will Inman. At the time Inman was thought to be the prize and Garrison a high cealing young pitcher. Garrison was derailed by injuries but when healthy has shown signs of being a back of the rotation starter. He is now a long shot to be a starting pitcher in the Bigs.
Glad to see Mike Baxter getting his cup of coffee with the big league club. He has shown improvement everytime they promote him.
