Eric Young Jr. Could Attract Trade Interest

By Zachary Links | March 12, 2011 at 2:38pm CDT

There are at least a few scouts on hand to watch Eric Young Jr. and with the Rockies' depth at second base, the 25-year-old could attract trade interest, tweets Troy Renck of The Denver Post.  There's presently no indication that the club is looking to move Young, Renck tweets, but things can change.

Young, who has also seen time in the outfield, would be an inexpensive addition to any club as he won't be arbitration-eligible until after the 2012 season.  The light-hitting second baseman hit just .244 /.312/.285 in 51 games this season though he has shown better hitting ability at the Triple-A level (.787 OPS).

He makes perfect sense for Detroit. We need a second basemen and Carlos Guillen is not gonna cut it for me.

It’s okay, GreenMonster/Soxfanforlife. You can still post on MLB TR using one handle, but if I see more than the 1 handle, you will be banned.

There are no computer malfunctions, the 2 names have near identical email addresses. It’s best if you don’t continue this further and just stop using multiple accounts.

Same Email Addresses? Do you know how many people there are in the world? And how many Email’s there are? That doesn’t make any sence, I wouldn’t create two accounts.

Nearly identical email addresses including your real name. Couple that with the same IP address. Come on, this is your final chance.

Dude, read the comment above his and stop posting on this thread. Don’t make him mad because at the end of the day, his word will always mean more than any of ours. He has the power. We don’t. Just keep commenting. Your fine, dude.

But anywho, I wouldn’t take Young unless hes going to a straight mashers park. Philly should look into him.

I like that idea. With Chase out til god only knows when, putting Young at 2nd in the meantime would be great for them.

Yeah Col Springs is a hitters paradise. I think the kids got talent but I wouldn’t give up anything of value. Then again crazy Jim Tracy seems to like him, so hes gonna get some JT love.

I think he has a lot of talent and would be a good guy to put at the bottom of the lineup where he can get some bunt base hits and stuff like that. The dude can run.

I met his pops last year.. Is he taller than his Dad? Because I’m about 5’6 and I am taller than him. The Dodgers should pick up Junior so they have the fastest duo of ex MLer sons in history..

Wait, your the scorekeeper. That is sweet. How’d you get that job if you don’t mind me asking. (staying on topic is not a strong suit of this thread.)

The late Angels announcer Rory Markas was a good friend of my dads and put in a personal reference.

Best. Job. Ever. (except for a player, manager, coach, GM, Assistant GM, and is about tied for bullpen catcher) Ok, its pretty low on the pro baseball totem pole but of every job, thats one of the better ones.

I love it, its pretty intense however.. Lancaster might have the best hitting conditions outside of Coors Field.

That word and other similar ones go through a filter and are automatically deleted. That’s why it’s best if we all refrain from using inappropriate words.

Your post has been edited and put through. 🙂

I like Eric Young Jr. Someone have an extra starting pitcher at the AA, AAA level that is close to ML ready? Colorado could use some more depth in my estimation in their starting rotation. The Reds do, but they are one of the few teams that doesn’t need another 2nd baseman at the moment.

Brandon Beachy for the Braves, but I’m not sure where Braves would fit Eric Young Jr. in.

Does he play any other IF positions well? He could be a utility guy if so (though I personally don’t think that’s worth a cheap, back-end SP). Or if McLouth has a season like he did last year (good spring so far though, for however little that’s worth) EYJ could play in center so we’d at least have a bad hitter with awesome CF defense. He DOES play a mean CF right?

Can he play SS is what I’d like to know. I don’t question his defense at 2nd or the OF.
