- Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN (on Twitter) hears that the Twins have inquired about free agent starter Justin Masterson.  Minnesota is also checking in on free agent outfielders, but finding a starter or two is at the top of their wish list.  In my October profile of the 29-year-old (30 by Opening Day), I speculated that the Twins could be a possible match for Masterson.
- The White Sox are scouring the market for left-handed relief pitching, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (on Twitter). Â The White Sox currently only have two lefty relievers on their roster in Eric Surkamp and Scott Snodgress.
- Indians GM Chris Antonetti told Jim Bowden of SiriusXM (on Twitter) that while the club has made a lot of progress on the trade front, it’s tough to say if they are close to a deal.
Andrew Miller come on down
Zach Duke, Tom Gorzelanny, Neal Cotts (after all, we should always have someone from the 05 champions), Joe Beimel and Chris Capuano. Two of those guys will be heading to Chicago. Andrew Miller is wishful thinking unfortunately.
What’s wishful thinking about signing Andrew Miller?
Years and money. It’ll be a bidding war. I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes 5 years close to $55 million for a set up man/unproven closer.
In that case I agree. We have the resources but at some point the price could get really ridiculous.
Big contracts for relief pitchers never pan out other than Mariano, and he’s a god.

I hope you are spot on. Those two plus Gregerson added to Petricka, Putnam, Webb, probably Bassitt and Surkamp would be solid. Petricka and/or Miller would close. Two to watch before being part of the rotation would be Montas and Rodon.

Masterson struggled and with a drop in velocity in 2014 yet the Twins are interested? With recent signings such as Pelfrey, Correia, Nolasco…u might think they would want a better chance of a sure thing. Who is responsible for the team going down the same rocky road with pitchers???
Masterson seems like the perfect Twins pitcher. The best of the mediocre!
They took a chance on Hughes coming off of a bad season and that worked out. Maybe if the price is right, it could be a low risk high reward type of guy for them
