The Cubs announced that they have designated Taylor Teagarden for assignment. In a related move, left-handed pitcher Clayton Richard has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa.
The 31-year-old Teagarden hit .303/.403/.579 in 211 plate appearances with the Mets’ hitter-friendly Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas last season. This season, he has slashed .294/.375/.437 with four homers in 144 plate appearances for Triple-A Iowa. Teagarden also made 15 plate appearances for the Cubs’ varsity squad this season.

Dan Haren was already with the team in the dugout last night. This DFA move is to make room for Richard.
Obviously a spot was needs for Haren but dumping a position player just weakens an already suspect bench. DFA Soriano and get a bat up, maybe Baez, ASAP>
15 PA well spent considering he won the game against Chapman a while back. He’ll always be remembered for that.
That, and having a name that makes him sound like a 1960’s disc jockey.
A bit off topic but it’s time to keep Richard up and dump Soriano.
