It’s been a busy today with the offseason officially getting underway, but we’ll still run out another edition of the weekly Monday Mailbag this evening. Last week’s edition touched on the likeliest outfield trade candidates of the winter, whether Jason Heyward and/or Pedro Alvarez would fit with the Orioles, whether or not Howie Kendrick and J.P. He makes sense for the Yankees! But in all seriousness, the braves are playing for your new stadium and even with castro’s team friendly deal they will continue to dump payroll rather than add it.

The Yanks have no major payroll coming off the books this winter and no departing big salaries vets until next year. But with the amazing free agent class can they afford to not jump in on some big signings knowing that next winter will produce an inferior free agent class? Big payroll comes off next yr but the free agents will not be there.
And will the Padres finally come to their senses and trade some of their pitching pieces, namely Craig kimbrel?
