Mets Claim Jordan Patterson From Rockies

By Steve Adams | November 26, 2018 at 2:05pm CDT

The Mets announced Monday that they’ve claimed outfielder/first baseman Jordan Patterson off waivers from the Rockies. The Mets’ 40-man roster is now at 39 players.

Patterson, 27, hasn’t appeared in the Majors since 2016 but has enjoyed plenty of success in Triple-A to this point in his career. In parts of three seasons, the left-handed-hitting Patterson is a .282/.363/.516 hitter with Triple-A Albuquerque, though Mets fans should be plenty familiar with the caveat that the Pacific Coast League is an immensely hitter-friendly environment. Defensively, Patterson has nearly 3200 innings in right field, more than 2000 innings at first base and more than 300 innings in left field.

Meh. 24% and 28% his two years in AAA. Seen worse on good hitters.

I was wondering why he was cut loose with that slash line. High K rate.

You hit the nail on the head with your analysis. He is simply a long shot to make it on the Mets, but AAA makes much more sense.

Alonso is going to tank as a rookie. Welcome to the Mets

Here’s a prediction. Alonso does tank in April and May and maybe the beginning of June, but after he adjusts, he will slash .275/.335/.410 the rest of his freshman year. And he won’t look back after that.

Here’s the most important point Rule-5:

This was Wagon Wheels’ major signing. He promised Mets’ fans that the organization was all in. He followed up on that promise when he announced that they were going after Harper and Machado.

And now he makes a major move with this signing. Wow what an off season. I can’t wait for the holiday season to be over so I can break out my silly orange and bright blue hat. My family makes me wait as it is too embarrassing for them when friends are around.

I like Patterson a lot but I just don’t know where he fits with my Mets. Alonso is going to be at 1st and we already have 3 left handed hitting outfielders. Unless we trade Jay Bruce I feel like he’s not gonna get a fair shot again just like Colorado.

Sounds like a potential push or replacement of Smith.

    Should’ve claimed C.J Cron instead.

Cron was claimed by the Twins before the Mets had a chance. And that’d be a lot of money for a guy you don’t have room for, anyway.

Mets answer with Todd Fraizer. So much for the local NJ resident. Throw in Jay Bruce and you are pissing away almost $30 million per season.

Why don’t you add wright and Cespedes and piss away another 45 million.

Met’s braintrust “T.C.” has come up with the marketing promotion of the decade!

The team is having a special day to recognize the Top 1000 season ticket holders (total spend for first ten years at Chitifield).

Bruce, Fraizer, Wright and Cespedes (thanks rule 5 for the great suggestions) will be part of the on field ceremony. “T.C.” came up with idea of a special limited edition gift for the winners! Each of the Top 1000 will receive a special NY Mets Urinal for their man cave. They will be fitted with a bobblehead doll of their choice which will be strategically located so it is interactive.

Jeff is excited to be part of the ceremony. He commented, “These Mets’ Top 1000 have pissed away more money than most and it is important for us to recognize them!”

Hey mikeyank. Do you ever talk about anything but the Mets? Getting kind of old. Let’s hear what you think Yanks will do in offseason. Would be interesting to hear.

I would guess this indicates the plan is to include Dominic Smith in potential trades.
