Twins Select Ronald Torreyes

By Jeff Todd | September 10, 2019 at 7:03pm CDT

The Twins have selected the contract of infielder Ronald Torreyes. Also heading onto the active roster is righty Kyle Gibson, who was activated from the injured list.

Torreyes will come up to help fill in for some missing pieces. He’ll take the 40-man spot vacated when outfielder Byron Buxton was placed on the 60-day injured list.

This’ll be the first time that Torreyes has appeared in the big leagues this season after seeing action in each of the past four campaigns. He’s a .281/.310/.375 lifetime hitter in the majors. In 330 plate appearances this year at Triple-A, he has turned in only a .256/.289/.406 batting line.

Would have been a more popular player 20 or 30 years ago. He’s always going to hit at least .280 and be a versatile INF.

Would you like an award? Guy is short and in MLB. Good on him.

I hated losing this guy. He’s a little too much of a free swinger for someone with so little power but he can play all over the place and is an awesome clubhouse guy.

“is an awesome clubhouse guy” God that’s such a generic term thrown around. Like you’d actually know either way.

Did I stumble into a conversation with a Mets fan or something. Its ok buddy. Your team will turn it around one day. I guess you’re not used to players sulking during games. The Yankees have a happy clubhouse and when Torreyes was there he was a big part of it. You missed out on a lot of antics.

I meant I guess you’re used to players sulking. Everyone loved Toe. Especially his quasi cameraman bit after home runs.
