Mariners Claim Sam Haggerty

By Jeff Todd | January 10, 2020 at 1:17pm CDT

The Mariners have claimed utilityman Sam Haggerty off waivers from the Mets, the Seattle club announced. He had recently been designated for assignment.

Haggerty has only minimal MLB experience and has actually only played in 19 games at the highest level of the minors. Through 643 plate appearances at Double-A over the past two campaigns, he owns a .250/.371/.378 batting line.

Now they can trade him to the Mets for Cano. Nahhh, the Mets wish. Seattle’s not that stupid.

Silly deals? He got rid of the dumpster contract of Cano and gave up diaz before he tanked for three stud prospects. The only trade I haven’t liked and still don’t was ketel tajuan for haniger and jean

No one cared about Ketel until last year when he blew up. That’s like the ones talking about how they hated trading Taylor which is 100% false

Yeah Haniger has been such a slouch

Haniger is no slouch. He did as everyone else would do after taking a foul tip on the nut.

Why not? ketel just had his first all-star season and Tijuan hasn’t been healthy… Haniger and segura are both all stars

Is the third prospect in the Cano deal really a stud or a throw in? And is the 2nd prospect, Dunn, a stud or an ok pitching prospect? I think you are using “stud” a bit loosely.

Seattle just got them a good player. I just wished the Orioles would have signed him.

Weird, I thought he’d already become a free agent. In any case, not exactly a crippling loss.

And what’s wrong with that? There’s appeal in that.

crap load of speed, his numbers in minors are definitely worth looking at. this is another “good for Mariners pickup to screw the dopey mets” move lol.

this kid has some potential if given a shot

You are dreaming. Hagerty wasn’t even ranked in the Mets’ top 30

not dreaming bud… his numbers, IN MY OPINION, are a sleeper potential…. base wise. never said he’s an average hitter, but he did have a good number of triples in minors as well.

not dreaming my love… not dreaming. unless your Katy Perry, then your worth the dream too as well

Undevolped talent (Major League level) + speed on the base paths + active Rookie status = low risk investment with a potential huge upside.
