The latest outrights from around the majors…
- The Rockies have outrighted right-hander Jesus Tinoco, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com tweets. The club designated Tinoco for assignment last week, but he cleared waivers after that. Now 25 years old, Tinoco first joined the Rockies as part of the return they received from the Blue Jays in the teams’ 2015 Troy Tulowitzki trade. Tinoco made his major league debut in 2019, but the Rockies traded him to the Marlins this past summer, only to re-acquire him via waivers three weeks later. He owns a 4.03 ERA (with a much less appealing 7.19 FIP) with 6.85 K/9 and 5.84 BB/9 across 44 2/3 big league innings.
- The Royals announced that they have outrighted southpaw Gabe Speier, whom they designated last week. Speier, 25, appeared in the majors in each of the previous two seasons and combined for a 7.62 ERA/6.05 FIP and 11.08 K/9 against 6.92 BB/9 over 13 frames.

For heavens sake, please let the non-tender deadline get here! Then & only then will the domino’s start to fall…

Glad we were able to keep Speier in the system.

Yep, always nice to have a MLB ready LHRP just up the road in Omaha.

Rockies lost all the pitchers from the Tulo trade today
Special Agent
True but that trade tree now includes “Bob Steve,” aka Robert Stephenson (and if you want, Jameson Hannah).
stevebaratta
Bob Steve’s middle name should be Lew.

But they didn’t lose Tinoco. The story clearly says he was outrighted. That means the Rockies keep him unless he is eligible to declare free agency. He may be eligible, I’m not 100% sure, but for now he is still a member of the Rockies.
DarkSide830
Surprised no one wanted Tinoco
Royalsfan12
Is Speier staying or did he elect free agency?

Still have no idea why the Marlins abandoned Tinoco when they needed any pitcher they could get. He looked better than half the guys they kept giving opportunities to. I know he isn’t the best pitcher but they were giving everyone and anyone a chance for a month and he allowed no hits. I know 3bb in 5ip isnt great but we had guys giving up 3 runs in .1ip all the time.

They kind of had to. They had like 20 people coming off the COVID list and they had to make some cuts off the 40 man roster. He was a victim of an unfortunate roster crunch. Although if that crunch didn’t happen, he probably would have never been a Marlin in the first place.

Does anybody have a guess at how many times Gabe has been traded or designated? It seems like a ton of times but I’m sure it isn’t as many times as it seems. Wasn’t he a part of the Dansby Swanson/Shelby Miller trade with the Diamondbacks?
Royalsfan12
Speier started out with the Red Sox. Was traded to the Tigers as part of the Yeonis Cespedes deal. Then went to the Braves for Cameron Maybin. Then he was part of the Dansby Swanson deal. Then finally sent to the Royals for Jon Jay.

@royalsfan12
Thanks for the information! I had completely forgotten he was involved in the Cespedes deal.
