Minor MLB Transactions: 5/24/21

By Mark Polishuk | May 24, 2021 at 1:16pm CDT

The latest minor moves from around baseball…

  • The Reds announced that right-hander Carson Fulmer has been outrighted to Triple-A Louisville.  Fulmer cleared waivers after being designated for assignment on Saturday.  It marks a rare trip through DFA limbo for Fulmer that didn’t result in a change of address, as the righty has been claimed off waivers five times since July 2020.  The Reds were the fifth team to claim Fulmer, and he has a 6.66 ERA over 25 2/3 relief innings for Cincinnati this season.

On the bright side, he tied his career high with 20 games appeared in!

He was a much better quarterback for the Bengals.

      That’s Carson Palmer.

Your thinking of the former TRL host and current contributor to the Today Show.

That’s Carson City. You’re thinking of the TV personality from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”.

Yeah, that 6.66 era probably scared teams for more than one reason.

I think it’s more that he was rushed.

CARSON FULMER WHITE SOX STUD, goes to saint Louis and becomes closer over Alex Reyes, then signs FA deal with The Dodgers but struggled with injuries. Becomes primary setup man with Colorado and Pittsburgh (again) and then goes to Miami, Seattle, Oakland, Yankees. Padres, Indians, Blue Jays, Rays, Mets and Cubs to establish the record for most teams played for. Becomes a hitter at the age of 52 and attempts comeback only to get stuck in triple A. Goes to Football and become a heismam trophy winner and trying to chase 2 currently. Look it up.

Fulmer’s strengths are potential, but his weaknesses are actual.

His weakness is base on balls per inning pitched. Get that righted and he’s an average middle relief arm.

It’s pretty sad to see his fall from top prospect to waiver wire rider. It does happen to most though
