Thanks for the chat, Anthony! I think the Braves will probably still sign Freeman. He’s asking for $200 million. That would be the top of his market anyway. I think the Braves are waiting to see if anyone offers him that before they do. If he wants to be a Brave for life they are probably just making sure they don’t have to pay more than anyone else would. If some team offers $200 million the Braves can always match it or come close. If no one offers that much the Braves save money.

They want to make sure the DH will be implemented and also want to know how to best construct the contract according to the new CBA.
with salary floor or lower threshold, small market teams will more likely extend and keep their stars. of course some teams might have to sign some mid-level free agents over value. but over time, more teams come out contending from that group.
There will only be a salary floor if there’s a salary cap.

I am trying to understand the question from Tyler about surprises from the Rule 5 draft. Anthony Franco seemed to know what he was talking about because he brought up Carson Fulmer falling to the 2nd round. Didn’t I just read the Rule 5 draft isn’t happening until the lockout is over? How can there be any surprises about a draft that didn’t happen and how can Fulmer fall to the 2nd round in a draft that never occurred? I am sure I don’t understand something. Can someone help me out? Didn’t we read that the Rule 5 draft won’t even happen until after the lock out? How could anyone know where Carson Fulmer goes already? Thanks if you can tell me what’s going on.
That was the minor league version of the Rule 5 draft. Most years it gets overshadowed by the major league version. I can’t remember MLBTR covering it in previous years but hey, this year it was all they had to cover.
