Dodgers Win World Series

By Charlie Wright | November 1, 2025 at 11:20pm CDT

The Dodgers are champions. Los Angeles outlasted Toronto in an epic Game 7 showdown. Will Smith delivered the game-winning swing, homering in the 11th inning to give the Dodgers their first lead, which they wouldn’t relinquish. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, pitching on no rest after throwing 96 pitches on Friday, closed out the win. Unsurprisingly, the all-time performance earned Yamamoto the Series MVP award.

LA becomes the first team to repeat as champions since the Yankees in 2000. New York won three straight titles (1998-2000). It’s the Dodgers’ ninth World Series title, moving them into a tie for third with the Athletics and Red Sox. It’s their third title in the past six seasons.

Miguel Rojas, an unlikely World Series hero, rescued LA’s season in the ninth inning. The light-hitting shortstop yanked a Jeff Hoffman slider over the left field wall to tie the game. Rojas joined Bill Mazeroski as the only players in World Series history to hit a game-tying or go-ahead home run in the ninth inning or later in a winner-take-all game (h/t Jesse Rogers of ESPN).

Rojas’ heroics allowed Yamamoto to do something just as special. After a complete game win in Game 2 and a quality start in Game 6, the ace entered in the bottom of the ninth inning with two runners on. He hit Alejandro Kirk with a pitch to load the bases, but wiggled out of the jam. Defensive sub Andy Pages leaped over teammate Enrique Hernandez to reel in an Ernie Clement drive to send the game to extra innings. Yamamoto then cruised through the 10th inning in order before getting into trouble in the 11th frame. With runners on first and third and one out, he coaxed a double play grounder from Kirk to seal the game.

Toronto was in control for much of the game. Shohei Ohtani, pitching on three days’ rest, labored through the first two innings. After George Springer singled to start the third frame, Nathan Lukes sacrificed him to second. Ohtani then intentionally walked Vladimir Guerrero Jr., before hanging a slider that Bo Bichette deposited into the center field stands for a three-run homer. The Blue Jays had multiple chances to extend their lead, including a leadoff double in the eighth inning, but failed to cash in.

The Blue Jays came out swinging in the Fall Classic, exploding for nine runs in the sixth inning to win Game 1 in blowout fashion. A dominant Yamamoto performance evened the series, then LA took a 2-1 lead after Freddie Freeman walked off Game 3 in the 18th inning. Toronto bounced back, winning Game 4 and Game 5 behind strong starts from Shane Bieber and Trey Yesavage, respectively. Yamamoto cruised again in Game 6, pushing the series to its limit. Game 7 delivered an instant classic.

I think this was the best World Series I’ve seen and maybe the best Game 7 game I’ve seen (although the Cubs – Indians game 7 was really good too).

I’m a Cleveland fan (born in 1998 so I missed the catastrophic Game 7 in 1997) and I always thought that the 2016 World Series would be the best series since I’ve been alive.

This one is right up there with 2016. Possibly 2001 as well but it’s likely a distant third.

Agreed. This was a great Series even though it didn’t go to 7 games. I was conflicted. On one hand I wanted a smaller market to topple the billion dollar payroll. The other is that I can’t root for an AL East rival. Regardless, Otani and Yamamoto were brilliant. What Yamamoto did was stuff I dreamed about in Little League and backyard ball.

I thought I had the worst heart break, but being 2 outs away from a World Series win is a different level

On top of the other opportunities like Guerrero barely missing a walk off homer or pages making an insane catch or IKF barely getting gunned out at home plate

Jays should of had either a hit and run, or a straight steal of 2nd in the 11th with one out. Kirk at bat, you know there’s an increased chance of a DP, take a chance and get some movement going to limit the DP. You get thrown out with a steal of 2nd, you still have an out and runner at 3rd.

Do you remember the outcome??? DP ended it so it was 1 out, if runner gets thrown out at 2nd then a pop fly would’ve ended the game instead of tying it

Chances you take when you have a slow runner hitting. If safe at 2nd, then Kirk has a chance to win it. If you’re thrown out at 2nd, you still have an out to get the tying run in. Straight steal maybe Will gets a bad throw into second allowing the run to come home, or maybe Vlady takes off on the throw and gets home safely. Hit and run presses the defense to make a mistake. Just my thoughts, but the Jays got there without my soapbox 🙂

The first 2 playoff rounds were stellar. The Championship series were a let down but the Series was magnificent. Baseball has won a lot of good will here now lets see if they can blow it with some more stupid CBA negotiations. Don’t be stupid fellows.

You didn’t see Larsen, but as a fan you should know about his perfect game in the 1956 World Series, which stands as the single best postseason performance of all time.

And you also should know about Johnson pitching in game 7 in 2001 on no rest, which is exactly what Yamamoto did last night.

According to you, your recency bias makes you right no matter what anyone else did just because you weren’t aware of it.

      Incredibly bad take.

Second guessing a manager who made it to the 11th inning of game 7 of the world series due to putting his players in the best position and mindset to win it all is ridiculous.

Not only getting there, but doing it as the clear underdogs. Vlad, Bo, and Kirk, good as they are, don’t match the star power on the Dodgers. We can add Yesavage to that list now, and they still come up short. Jays gave it their all and outperformed most people’s expectations.

As for taking out the runners, it’s risky, but justifiable. At that point, all he needed was one runner to cross home. The vast majority of extra-inning games end in the 10th or 11th, so it’s unlikely these guys come up again. And a tired, depleted pen against the Dodgers’ lineup? Can’t blame him for taking the risk to try to end it quickly.

Problem with his choices in my mind is when you take a hitter out for a PR, if that runner doesn’t end up scoring, you severely limit your chances to win later. He did that several times, but oddly left in Bichette at 3rd who was injured, to stay in when a PR probably would’ve scored.

If the league batting average was higher I would agree. But it seems like making contact isn’t a given these days.

They’d rather the runner be on third with one out than second with no outs. And hope before the next two outs happen someone runs into a ball it a mistake is made.

The algorithm says it’s the right move lol.

There will be fans of every team that will scream foul when the team with the highest payroll wins it all. Not so coincidentally, they get very silent when their own team does it. It’s the way of things.

The truth is despite the belief that money buys championships… that isn’t always true. Exhibit A: The Mets. Money helps, but a well run franchise from top to bottom, helps more.

a salary cap and a long drawn-out work stoppage is what is needed. I don’t care if they stop for 2 or 3 seasons. The fact that half of the teams have almost no chance to compete is crazy. In the last 20 years, the only team in the bottom 1/3 of payroll to win the WS is the 2015 Royals. That’s it.

The worst part about this “I hate baseball” attitude is it’s based on the lie that a salary cap would bring competitive balance, when it’s entirely about squeezing the players. MLB can divvy up the game’s revenue any way they wish, and how they wish is the way they are doing it now.

Without signing big money players, I think they would still be formidable with their development.

Game winning home run by a home grown catcher. (Will Smith)

Game tying home run by home grown player they brought back. (Miguel Rojas)

Clutch catch in center field by home grown outfielder. (Pages)

Regardless of what a new CBA brings I think the Dodgers will be extremely competitive.

Totally agree, they draft and develop well. And even though they spend a lot they seem to do it wisely. To be honest if we get a cap(I hope we do) the winning culture will most likely still lead to a lot of good players going there in discounts just because they are a well run team.

Drafting and developing well is also related to having money. The richest teams can pay for the best facilities, the best scouts, etc.

But it’s far less of a cost than a MLB roster.

So why don’t more teams invest in drafting and development? In a real way.

I can partially answer your question. The Dodgers had one of the best drafting and development operations in baseball until the Fox and McCourt ownerships. They disinvested in the pipeline I think because the results take years to realize and they were more focused on the short term.

Also analytics teams, labs and what not.

It is less money on these items than say player payroll but that doesn’t mean some teams especially ones with certain owners don’t cheap out in this area.

The end of the day revenue does allow owners to say yes more often when the money is coming in. There are certainly some penny puncher owners out there. Which why a salary floor also make sense.

Neither a cap nor a floor makes any sense, except as a way of squeezing the players. The owners push for a cap for this reason and this reason only, and the players say hell no for the very same reason. A floor would almost certainly be set so low that it would force only a few teams in any given year to spend more on salaries. And those teams could and likely would cut spending back elsewhere.

The amount of revenue shared is entirely up to the owners. It is actually quite a bit, including nearly half of media revenue and tens of millions more through the CBT. They could share more revenue, but the reality is they already have the financing system they want because they alone designed it. Every team is profitable. Whether this works out well for fans in the smaller markets is really beside the point. A hard pill for some to swallow I guess, but true nonetheless.

My suggestion to fans of teams with bad owners is to make a few billion dollars and offer to buy the team.

The cheap owner will say no because he’s making so much profit and increasing his net worth because of the teams value.

But the upside is you’ll have billions.

I could see that. 10 Starters. Each starter has a backup guy if he can’t get past the 5th inning. If a guy pitches a complete game, backup guy gets the night off. But if backup guy falters, backup infielder or outfielder gets to pitch.

For the 2025 season, the Chicago Cubs’ payroll was significantly higher than the Milwaukee Brewers’, with the Cubs’ payroll at approximately $196 million and the Brewers’ at around $115 million.

The Cubs and Dodgers are not even close in the way they do contracts, spend money, or earn revenue. The Dodgers are in a category all by themselves and that’s why they’re going to directly affect the CBA.

Comments such as this one represent a fundamental misunderstanding of the business of baseball because they make the assumption that the team owners are primarily in the business of winning pennants. They are actually primarily in the business of making a return on their investment. The Dodgers are not in a separate category and will not have an impact on the CBA because the players are not the issue here. The owners are the issue. Sure they’d like to squeeze the players, but otherwise they have the financial system they want. It makes money for every owner, in large markets and small. And don’t fool yourself — that’s what it’s all about.

So many people complaining about the Dodgers money and Yamamoto was unbelievable. But that said, Yamamoto is set up to be the hero because of a 9th inning home run hit by Miguel Rojas of all people – with Ohtani on deck – off a big money closer In Hoffman. There are probably plenty of rosters in the league that Rojas wouldn’t be on.

Also, Toronto outplayed (and way outscored) LA in this series. I know this is little consolation to Blue Jays fans but man, they showed out this series. and should be nothing but proud.

My main point is how frustrating it is to read so many people complaining about the game after such an amazing WS and the main reason they’re able to make that argument is because Miguel Rojas came up big.

The playoffs are a tournament. “Fans” so quickly forget about the 162 game regular season. which is a better measure of a team, IMO.

Do they want Kyle Tucker? Does he want to play for the Dodgers? Maybe he doesn’t want to defer 80% of his contract and signs with the Yankees or Mets instead. Adding doesn’t always work out. Look at the Tanner Scott contract. Yeah they have enough money that they can eat that contract without flinching, but get enough Tanner Scotts and Michael Confortos and it starts to make a difference.

Sadly, that’s going to be way too much to ask for, I’m afraid. There is going to be a segment of fans that are going to believe CBA changes will magically fix bad ownership groups and/or management of a franchise. What those fans won’t talk about though is how baseball has gone longer than any sport without a repeat champion before today, or how “small market” teams in other sports like the Hornets and Browns are no closer to a championship than the A’s.

I’m not a Dodgers fan, and I was rooting for your team in this series because, as an Atlanta fan, I still root for Freeman. I also respect what the Dodgers have built. Congrats to you and your team, enjoy the celebration.

Yes bad run teams don’t win in any league. That doesn’t change the fact that there is a huge spending/revenue gap in MLB.

Doesn’t change the fact that 20/21 World Series winner has had a top 9 payroll.

If you don’t spend a good amount of money more than some teams can afford to spend you have a near zero chance to win a World Series.

Are the words advantage and guarantee suddenly synonymous?

The original big spenders, the Yankees, have 1 world series title in the last 25 years.

Money may get you more tickets to the dance, but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be the last one on the floor.

It’s all about getting to the playoffs though. Smaller market teams are lucky to make the playoffs a few times every decade. The Dodgers and Yankees never miss the playoffs and rarely lose the division.

What about 2026? As far as a great series, not really. Yamamoto was fantastic and so was Trey Yesavage but mostly guys on both teams didn’t hit in clutch situations. Ohtani had only one good game as a hitter and was so so when he was pitching. Guerrero only had that 2 run bomb. So many disappointing performances on both sides.

Was reported that the Jays offered Ohtani a somewhat similar contract, but wouldn’t defer either as much or as long. And didnt offer as much total.

The Jays are owned by the richest cable company in Canada and have an endless amount of funds available if they see its worth it. They could sign anyone they like, hence why they have gone after the biggest FA’s that fit their needs the last couple years.

The Dodgers dont have that significant of an advantage to another top 5 spender who also went after FA’s such as Ohtani and Yoshi. Vs teams like Tampa and Oakland sure/maybe. But vs teams like the Mets, Yankees, BoSox, and Blue Jays. Nope.

Yankees and dodgers make significantly more revenue than any other two teams. They are in a tier of their own.

Mets obviously had an extremely high payroll but that’s because they have an owner spending 93% of their revenue on payroll. That’s before counting other cost to run the org.

A handful of other teams have very high revenues but still nothing close to the dodgers and Yankees.

Padres have a top 10 payroll. Yet the dodgers payroll cost was still 300m more than the padres this year. That before you even count the money the dodgers pay in deferrals.

The mlb financial system is broken. There is no arguing that.

But with Ohtani already having played in California and secretly wanting to be a Dodger the whole time. The Jays could have offered him more but then Ohtani could have taken that offer to the Dodgers and said can you up this? I think he already made up his mind about signing with them. Yamamoto probably signed with LA because of Ohtani and that crazy offer that even the George Steinbrenner’s Yankees wouldn’t have given him. Besides New York is too far away from Japan.

You can’t hate on an organization who does it right and then reaps the rewards when your organization doesn’t want to spend the needed funds.

The Dodgers are the premier organization in professional sports from top to bottom.

They spent in the 90s and couldn’t make the playoffs because they were just throwing money around at bad players.

Put respect on the Dodger organization.

This might’ve been an entertaining finish but god was it awful baseball from a classical standpoint

1.) Talk about managing to the numbers instead of managing the moment. If you couldn’t see how locked in Rojas was you shouldn’t be around competitive sports. Dude had destiny written all over his eyes and for some reason you decide to pitch to him.
2.) leadoff double and you don’t get the insurance run in. That’s why you bunt and don’t swing away, because you can do everything right as a hitter and still not advance the runner if you’re swinging. And the hitter barreled the hell out of the ball and it landed in Muncy’s glove and bc of that you didn’t get the insurance run, and because of that you lost the World Series
3.) Nobody on and you throw Will Smith a meatball. It’s game freaking 7 why are you throwing anyone a meatball which leads me to point #4.
4.) It’s game freaking 7 why were any pitches down the middle? Both teams!!!! Meatballs down the middle like it’s freaking August and it’s not winner take all.

Definitely better than the garbage World Series from last year but god dam does baseball have a bad product right now. Age of Idiocracy in the MLB. I get these are elite athletes but did nobody teach these guys how to play baseball somewhere along the way?

Are you saying they should have intentionally walked the #9 hitter backup infielder Miggy Rojas who had hit one homerun since the All-Star break? And there were a lot of meatballs thrown by both sides throughout the entire Series and the vast majority of them were missed by both sides. Not sure if that’s normal (non) execution or if it’s just guys being tense and wanting to play the hero with big swings.

When you have a team that can say they have 2 billion dollars in gross revenue from outside the monies they have from their ticket sales, you’re going to be able to buy any player you want. The Dodgers have no player budget, it is an open checkbook policy, knowing that your revenue pipeline is never ending. The Dodgers will sign most of the top Japanese players leaving for the MLB. It won’t stop anytime soon. The only thing that will stop the Dodgers is basically age; they are the oldest team in MLB average age is near 31yrs old. Financially the Dodgers are deep pockets willing to spend for the top players.

Mookie was an All-Star Right Fielder who hit for average and power. This year his average and power numbers are down. Now he may win a gold glove at shortstop but I’m saying why did he switch in the first place? Dave Roberts must think he’s a genius using his All-Star outfielder to cover a position he could have easily found someone else to cover.

Mookie started off the season sick and lost 15lbs+ in weight that I don’t think he ever fully recovered from due to the day-to-day grind of a long season. I imagine it likely affected his strength & power. He may bounce back next year after a healthy offseason, full training camp, and successful year of experience at SS.

This is the first team to have over $2b gross. It comes from doing things right and signing the right people and being the best run organization in professional sports.

Should free agents rather go to Kansas City or the Angels? The Angels are in Los Angeles, too.

People want to go to Dodger Stadium and play for a first class organization. And that’s the Dodgers fault for being such a great organization to play for.

Teams should strive to be the Dodgers. They have billionaire owners, too.

Local TV money will always favor the largest markets. Doesn’t matter how well a team like the Padres are run they will never ever have the tv revenue the dodgers and Yankees have.

Ticket sales perhaps you can keep it within reach by building a great org. It’s the local TV money that needs to be addressed.

Yes I know 48% is shared. That doesn’t close the gap enough. Dodgers local tv deal avg’s 334m a year. Mean while the padres have to have mlb broadcast their games, sell about 40k subs for $99 bucks. Likely don’t even make 30m from that and the local deals with the cable networks. Padres had the second highest attendance with nearly 3.5m, top in % of stadium capacity. Yet 300m less in payroll.

But their owners are already billionaires. Explain the Nationals, who have more Billions than the Dodgers. They don’t fit your reasoning. They have more money to spend to start with.

The only thing the Dodgers are guilty of is being the best run organization in professional sports. They spend proportionately more than everyone because that’s what it takes to build the best organization in professional sports.

Whether the Lerner’s or Gugenheim have more money is largely irrelevant. The goal of owning a baseball team is to run it like a business and have it self-sustaining. You don’t pull money out of your own personal checking account in order to prop up the business.

It’s about team generated revenue not how rich an owner is. Sure the richer the owner the less they may rely on the team to make them money but it’s still a business.

Baseball is a big business run for a profit by people who (for the most part) are good at running big businesses profitably. And if for some reason you don’t believe this, it’s time to get over it.

          Blue- exactly.

Winning the World Series is the goal. Hitting that goal would bring in more revenue but that doesn’t mean the revenue gap between the have and have nots wouldn’t still be massive.

It’s the local TV deals because of tv market size that creates the start of revenue gaps. There is about a 300m a year difference between the Padres and Dodgers in local tv revenue. That’s also the difference in the two teams payroll this year. If the Padres spent 300m more on payroll this year (150m salary, 150m tax), that’s 5 more 30m dollar players. They wouldn’t have been handing out 1m to players like Heyward to start the season in LF.

First inning Yamamoto had no idea what was going to happen. I have to hand it to him he handled it with poise but you could see on his face he was basically following his training and mechanics while he was finding the feeling in his arm. He just had this “oh crap I hope this goes where I’m aiming” look to him. Second inning he looked loose and in control though. Honestly looked like he could toss another 100 pitches once he warmed up.

The billionaire owner of the team you root for should spend more money on things that help you win.

The Dodgers were brutal in the 90s with a huge payroll because they spent it on bad players like Andruw Jones and Nori Nakamura.

Hate Stan Kasten for changing the organization from top to bottom and making it the best run organization in professional sports.

You’re aware that enterprises like the MLB are an elaborate scheme to protect billionaires wallets and funnel taxpayer money to the elites right? You know this doesn’t exist without massive government intervention? You realize these owners have no incentive to spend anything because they are already winning by taking the money the middle class gladly hands over to them. Some meaningless trophy is second to the billions they stand to make by not upsetting the apple cart.

Yet, here you are, complaining about things that aren’t going to change? Or are you just that ignorant to the fact the Dodgers organization is the best run organization in sports where people want to play? It’s not like the Dodgers just went out and laid more money on the table for free agents to pick up. They had a number for Soto, got outbid. The Mets “couldn’t” spend money until they could and now they’re a problem, too? Is it only the teams that choose to spend are the problems?

The best relievers that they did not use at all in game 7. They should have swept the Blue Jays with that team on paper at least. Actually, if the Dodgers had lost it would have been more of an embarrassment, but they barely won, so it’s all good in Dodger country.

Anyone catch Alejandro Kirk listening to his helmet while on deck in the 11th? Anyone notice the Blue Jays were rarely fooled by anyone the Dodgers threw tonight and seemed to always be on time for every off-speed pitch? Did anyone pay attention to every pitcher who struck out multiple batters every game all of a sudden giving up hard contact routinely.

    Must just be me.

You just officially lost the right to call anyone out on anything.

If you really believe that payroll means nothing and anyone can compete, then why are you so suspicious that someone managed to take your super team to the limit?

This Jays team was predicted at the start of the season to finish bottom 2 in the ALE, bottom 5ish in the AL, and bottom 10 overall. They accomplished a lot and made it to extras in game 7 of the world series. They did a lot more than majority could concieve them doing 209 days ago. Congrats Jays. And Congrats Dodgers for doing what everyone expected of you.

Even Mookie, stuck in a slump, making that acrobatic double play to seal the game, sheer joy on his face as he saw it unfolding. Felt good to see Vladdy finally get a hit in the 11th- who knew he had cat like reflexes at 1st. As well played on either side as you can expect

As a Dodger fan, I am grateful that this year, the small things that often mean the difference between victory and heartbreak—went our way. There have been many years where we were in the same space as the Jays were this year. Your time will come Toronto fans. Great. Now that this is over, can we get a cap floor and ceiling? Teams like the Pirates and Twins and Marlins need to be punished for intentionally not being competitive and we can stop pretending like the Dodgers are so good because they have double the payroll of the next closest team. The Jays spent a fraction of what the Dodgers did and outplayed them most of that series. At the end of the day, if the Jays had a couple of more $30 million dollar pitchers the could have taken out of the pen, maybe they would have won, but who else can afford that than other maybe the Yankees or Mets?

Dave Roberts outmanaged Schneider. Why? The Jays lost the series the Dodgers were default winners. Why?
Well here you have Yamamoto from the Dodgers pitching again after pitching yesterday, Roberts let him go to finish the game.
Schneider had Yesavage in the game and had 21 pitches, they needed 4 outs left, he’s the guy with the best stuff on that whole pitching roster, and Schneider pulls him for Jeff Hoffman the ex Philly who is not lights out. Yesavage’s split was almost unhittable, he hung one pitch to Muncy, they still had the lead. Hoffman doesn’t have that stuff, you let Yesavage keep going win or lose, and guess what, Rojas when he came up to bat was .750 v Hoffman, I said it at the time to some people, and guess what, he homers and ties the game and takes his average to .800 with a defining moment, so “unlikely hero”, I do not think so with those stats v Hoffman, and furthermore, Ohtani 0/5, Smith 1/5 Rojas hadn’t even seen Yesavage. so I bet he’s not going to homer off him. Schneider lost it for the Jays, and Wegner helped in the 18 innings game where Varsho was walking to 1st base and Wegner decided to call the delayed strike and Bichette gets picked off 1st-ABS would have corrected Wegner’s call, it’s 1st and 2nd none out and the Jays lost by a run….Schneider absolutely blew it by letting Hoffman pitch, he’s not elite, that’s all.

The other thing is that the Jays had loaded bases and Varsho up, what’s wrong with squeezing there, bunting is a lost art, instead he lets him hit away and IKF gets nailed at the plate by Rojas. If I was a Jays fan I would be having nightmares for a very long long time.

Wasn’t aware of Rojas hitting career .750 off of Hoffman. If that’s correct I suppose Schneider could be dinged for that, but Rojas was the #9 hitter who had one homerun since July and just made first postseason appearance the day before. If you’re going to be afraid of that guy then you probably shouldn’t be managing.

In the World Series, you have to be afraid of anybody with a bat in his hand. Like I said before this series started, anything can happen in a World Series, and it probably will. I’m going to call myself a prophet for making that call.

Rojas is kind of underrated as a hitter anyway. It might be right to not expect him to hit homers, but he has always been good at contact. And in a series where every swing matters, contact is king.

If I had to be critical of one thing all players must post to the draft not just domestic ones. They don’t let us join their teams. It’s highly restricted.

The games were awesome and close. And wages had nothing to do with the quality of the game. The blue jays are a top notch organization and produce quality players and have quality coaching and training facilities. Unlike the athletics or some other organizations we can criticize for their spending efforts they do reinvest in the sport in their brick and mortar and their staff beyond the cleats.

They won, but the Jays really handed it to them. Why you’d let Hoffman pitch there, I just do not know, and Schneider refused to squeeze bunt when the game could have been won. At least put it on till strike 2 and then if he K’s swinging away so be it, at least he tried. One good bunt wins the game, instead IKF gets nailed.

The ball was stuck in the wall. Not sure why you’re confused by this rule.

The umpire has discretion to give the pitcher extra time if they were on the bases the previous inning. We just don’t see this much anymore because of the universal DH. All you’re doing is admitting you just started following baseball in the last couple years.

It is not good for the sport to have the World Series winners almost always be the highest spending team. The players will never accept a salary cap. Baseball should just split the TV revenue home/visitor 50/50 or the Dodgers fans should start loving intramural scrimmages. In addition, teams paying the luxury tax should start losing top draft choices (not just ones if they sign QO free agents). If you have money to blow beyond the tax threshold you shouldn’t have access to young inexpensive talent.

Folks will say it’s their payroll but really they win because Yamamoto defied expectations pitching literally the next day and doing so for about 40 pitches or so. That’s completely unreal and hasn’t been done since like Randy Johnson.

Add on top of that the Jays missing a ton of opportunities with runners on base. It was handed to them and they let it go.

The saltiness from some folks is wild. Last night was a great game, period. And no matter how much people want to hate on LAD, guys like Freeman, Mookie, Kiké, Yoshi, are likable players. Easy to root for. Good for them.

Yep. About halfway through the game last night, I was reconciled to the Dodgers losing, but I got so wrapped up in the drama that it didn’t really matter much. Either way, I knew I was watching one for the ages. The outcome hung on every pitch, every swing of the bat and both teams played like they knew it. The baseball gods smiled on the Dodgers in the end, but it could just as easily have gone the other way. This is why baseball is the greatest game.

Baseball fans won a pony with this series. Sadly, all some can think about when that happens is horse manure.

The World Series was a gift to the dodgers by the umpires call at the plate. I love Tommy Edman and have nothing against the aforementioned players but if the umpire gets the call right at the plate a lot of these things don’t happen. I’m convinced that MLB or Mafia betting ordered the umpires that dodgers must win.

Did you watch the whole series? Four of the seven games had umpiring favoring the Jays. In Game 6 the umps literally gave Toronto a whole run – umpirescorecards gave that game a +1.05 for Toronto. They gave last night’s performance +0,1 runs for LA. Your complaint is not based in fact. All three pro-LAD ump scorecards net ONE run exactly – literally +1.0 – for the Dodgers in total. The four pro-TOR games netted +2.67 runs for the Jays. Also the Jays outscored the Dodgers by a substantial margin, so to try and pin it on the umpiring is absurd.

Didn’t happen. Neither of those was significantly delayed. Varsho’s behavior was at fault the first time, and Springer assuming Vladdy walked was at fault the second time. In neither instance was the call delayed beyond what’s normal. Just bad base running.

What i love is how the series seemed to captivate casual fans, so many places had the sound on. We were at a hipster bar in Chicago’s wicker Park with many Halloween revelers still out and about. Aside from the baseball fans, many younger Gen z and alpha observers were captivated by the drama. Place fell silent in shock at Rojas game tying HR and then went electric with the winner, club complied by serenading the win with some Dr. Dre. What a great showcase for the game, and a next Gen of fans!

As the dodgers get older, they always look to get even better and that will start with signing Tucker and other prime free agents. Spending with unlimited resources no problem!

Ugh. They really showed their age in the series. Mookie didn’t hit and wasn’t even a threat to steal. Only 1 or two Freedie waves. Snell looked like the jays MVP. Yet somehow won. All that money on aging players compiled with deferred money may limit Dodgers spending.

All the BS about deferrals and the evil empire outspending all others and the occasional outdated tired sniping about Ohtani’s supposed betting can’t dampen the joy Dodger fans are feeling today. The Jays could easily have won the Series. They are a very good team. But I will be forever grateful I got to be in Dodger Stadium for three of the games. Those memories will last. What a great Series. Looking forward to a three-peat.

Hard to brand them the evil empire, as an out of town visitor always enjoy attending Dodger games: friendly staff, diverse crowd, lots of families, great weather, Dodger dogs and sushi and people high tail it in the 7th to create room for tge stragglers. What’s not to like?

As A Dodger fan used to attending road games it was a treat being among 50,000 friendly fans wearing the same colors as me for a change. The few Jays fans in attendance were good people too. It was a party at every game. And we got 4 games for the price of three thanks to the 18 inning marathon.

I hear that next year Ohtani, rule 2.0 will be added to MLB . He and.he alone (unless the Dodgers roster adds another 2-way player) can be a staring pitcher, come out of the game to DH for a few innings, and return to pitch the 9th so he can start racking up saves. Additionally he is so entitled and unable to take no more than short cat naps during games when he pitches he can warm up for as long as he wants and he’s not subject to the pitch clock.

That said, he really is one of one. As a Yankee fan I can’t deny what he does game in and game out.
