Free agent infielder Bo Bichette has thus far drawn interest from the Blue Jays and Red Sox. The Yankees, Cubs, and Dodgers have also checked in on his market. Now, Jon Heyman of the New York Post adds that the Phillies are among the big-market suitors for Bichette.
Philadelphia’s biggest offseason move has been the re-signing of Kyle Schwarber to a five-year, $150MM contract. Outside of that, the team has added Adolis Garcia to the outfield mix on a one-year deal. They also retooled the bullpen by trading away Matt Strahm, acquiring Kyle Backhus, and signing Brad Keller and Zach Pop. Last month, it was reported that the club is looking for a righty platoon bat and some rotation depth, as well as a reunion with J.T. Realmuto. In contrast, the infield hasn’t been mentioned as a target for an upgrade, so it’s possible that the Phillies are just doing due diligence on Bichette.
The club has Trea Turner entrenched at shortstop. The 32-year-old continues to perform at a high level. In 2025, he batted .304/.355/.457 in 141 games with a 125 wRC+ that was sixth-best among qualified shortstops. He also lowered his strikeout rate to just 16.7% and hit 15 home runs while stealing 36 bases. Crucially, after two seasons of below-average defense, Turner was worth 2 Defensive Runs Saved as well as 16 Outs Above Average in 2025, the latter ranking fourth among qualified shortstops. That stands in stark contrast to Bichette, who was worth -12 DRS and -13 OAA for the Blue Jays this year.
The presence of Turner makes the Phillies less of an obvious fit for Bichette the shortstop. With Schwarber taking the DH slot, Bichette would need to play second or third base if he were to sign. The keystone is the more likely outcome, with Bichette telling interested teams that he is willing to play there. He notably played five games at second base during the World Series, with Andres Gimenez covering shortstop. Before that, Bichette had only spent 262 1/3 innings at the keystone in his career, all in the minor leagues.
Statcast takes an unfavorable view of Bichette’s arm strength (36th percentile) and sprint speed (21st percentile). A move to second base would allow him to make shorter throws and limit his exposure to batted balls from right-handed hitters, with which he has historically struggled. Meanwhile, the Phillies’ incumbent second baseman is Bryson Stott. His 2025 batting line of .257/.328/.391 was league average by wRC+. On defense, he was seen as average (0 DRS) to positive (7 OAA). Altogether, he was worth 3.1 fWAR this year, which was sixth among qualified second basemen.
Signing Bichette to play second might force Stott to the hot corner, where has only played 15 big-league innings. That could still be a good defensive alignment of the two. Whereas Bichette struggles against batted balls by right-handed hitters, Stott was worth an equal 4 OAA against right-handed and left-handed batters in 2025. Slotting him at third base to accommodate Bichette wouldn’t be a perfect fit, given Stott’s below-average arm strength. Still, his better performance against batted balls by righties, as well as his plus range and sprint speed, could help him adapt to the hot corner better than Bichette could.
An alignment of Stott at third, Turner at short, and Bichette at second would leave Alec Bohm without a regular position. Bohm batted .287/.331/.409 with a 105 wRC+ in 120 games this year as the Phillies’ primary third baseman. That’s certainly not terrible, but it was a drop-off from his 113 wRC+ in 2024. He also declined on defense, dropping from 4 OAA in 2024 to -2 OAA this year. Bohm is entering his last year of team control and is projected for a $10.3MM salary in arbitration, which makes him a potential trade candidate. Indeed, back in October, 69.72% of MLBTR readers believed the Phillies would trade him.
It remains to be seen whether the Phillies are seriously interested in Bichette or just doing their due diligence. That said, if they were to sign him and trade Bohm, they’d be upgrading their offense and potentially their infield defense. We at MLBTR ranked Bichette at No. 2 on our Top 50 Free Agents list, projecting an eight-year, $208MM deal. Adding that $26MM annual salary while subtracting Bohm’s $10.3MM would bring the team’s 2026 payroll to just under $281MM, according to RosterResource. That would leave about $10MM for a reunion with Realmuto and other additions, assuming the team matches its 2025 payroll of $291MM.

They gotta have something to talk about.
Only way I see Bichette to the Phillies is if Stott is traded to the Giants for something like Birdsong and Daniel Susac
I dont think Stott keeps the Phillies from upgrading at the keystone with Bichette. However, I think the point of your trade is your interest in Daniel Susac. I looked at him and read his scouting report from pipeline. It brings up his egregious swing and miss rate at offerings out of the strike zone of 40% but I have to admit, Im even a little intrigued as well. He might be an underrated prospect. Possible little diamond in the rough you might have found.
If I hadn’t read the report and saw his stats I would have thought him a random minor leaguer. Just curious. What brought him to your attention?
I follow prospects pretty well, but he came to mind first due to being in the rule 5 draft last month.
Bo knows cheesesteak
Good hitting, questionable defense has been a Dave Dombrowski calling card his entire career as an executive. Not sure why so many are dismissing this possibility.
What is the plan for the starting rotation with Suarez gone and Wheeler out to start the season?
Money even for a big time spender like DD is the main reason. Even he has limits and this appears to me as a smokescreen to get their catcher back on a better deal.
Because it’s not much of an improvement for them and it would come at a huge cost. Not happening.
Based on the tax data it would be very expensive for Philly to sign bo…and hope to retain realmuto
Realmuto has been declining anyway. But not sure if the Phillies really need Bo.
Bo Knows (and the Phillies don’t). They like signing long term crippling contracts while never actually getting any better (they do get older). At least in this case the team would actually be better than the previous year (on paper). It would make saving a nickel on Strahm make more sense (tho no doubt at the trade deadline they will start their yearly scrambling for bullpen help).
Sounds pretty grim for the Phillies – probably another one of those unfortunate first place finishes or playoff appearances – those poor fans.
While you are being sarcastic (sardonic as another has said) it’s actually the truth. When you enter into a nice competitive window and quickly reach the WS and lose, nothing else is really gonna satisfy. Especially not when every year seems to be less exciting than the last (and players who barely deserve a roster spot speak up about their manager). Combine that with the ever present segment of their fans who would love nothing more than to throw their beer at the visiting outfielders (heck even their own would do if it were only an accepted practice) and you have a situation that’s likely equally as true as the one you paint (tho perhaps a bit over the top).
You must be an absolute joy at parties. I’m curious which team you’ve been begrudgingly rooting for over the years.
Depends on the party. Well I surely will seem quite bias as I begrudgingly have rooted for ATL. I have no problem with the Phillies team or most of their fans. I feel the same way about a portion of Giants fans and a couple other teams. Granted I am also a human so I’m equally a d-bag and all around scoundrel. But it’s fun to poke at some of those Phillies fans because I know my analysis is correct and they get on my freaking nerves with their obnoxious mocking only to be silent as can be at the slightest sign of losing a 4 run lead. And I’m tired of hearing about how great of a fanbase and playoff atmosphere it is just because they like to get drunk and yell. As for ATL they lost every playoff series I watched until 2021 (wasn’t a fan til 2003 and stopped watching when they stole the stadium funds and tanked) so it was a bit odd. Constant winning only to lose. So I appreciate the regular season. I sense Phillies fans are more focused on the ring because they almost won one and haven’t come as close since.
Hey, as long as you’re the one determining what is actually the truth and that your analysis is correct, then who am I to question. Please accept my sincerest apologies.
I, for one, am utterly despondent about all of the winning seasons under DD. Clearly he has no clue about how to run a team and we should listen to all of these junior apprentice armchair fantasy baseball GM’s on here instead.
@Sadface: Phillies don’t seem to have a plan at catcher without Realmuto. Their top catching prospect who is close to the majors is Caleb Ricketts and he’s probably not ready til later in the year at the earliest. Plus he’s not exactly a top prospect.
I see the odds of him going back as so high that I don’t even think it warrants much conversation (but could be wrong). Makes too much sense. They keep all their guys and he’s more valuable to them than to other teams (not that he isn’t valuable). Just too much of a shakeup unless you are trading for a very good young catcher.
I could see Bo at 2nd, Stott at 3rd. Bohm flipped to Seattle for prospect(s) that could go to the Cardinals to help pry Pagés to the Phillies. It might have to involve a touch of creativity something akin to this. But Turner, Harper, Bichette, Schwarber is a serious 1 through 4.
Does Philly have the budget for that plus realmuto without addressing castellanos nola etc bad contracts?
Dave has never been that creative. I don’t buy their interest at all. DD likes nice and easy offseasons and do not think about moving players around the diamond at all. Very old school approach. Though I think it would be a good addition I don’t take it seriously.
Yeah I could never imagine him inking a Prince Fielder type and having to move a player like say Miggy back across diamond after having him learn that position 3 or 4 years prior.
You would think Boras is his agent, telling the media every team is interested in him.
It’s hilarious how the cubs are linked to everyone. We all know Mr. Cheapskate ricketts and no balls jed aren’t signing anyone worthwhile.
With all this gobbledygook about defense against right handed and left handed batters, why not just switch positions throughout the game. There.
Saw this way earlier on the BR
Wow thanks for sharing
All those words and not a single mention of Aidan Miller. Heyman got played. Don’t follow him down.
I don’t know if the front office has an idea what position Miller plays in the bigs or if they are willing to trade him for something they need.
They have Stott who can probably play 2nd or 3rd and everybody seems to like him even if his hitting isn’t the best. It seems like they are ready to shove Bohm out the door when he looks upset and clueless in the playoffs. And they are “stuck” with Trea and his monster contract for years and he doesn’t always look great at SS. Eventually, he too, will be an expensive DH if Harper is still playing.
They need another right handed hitter and it looks like Bichette can play a passable 2nd. Though his “world’s crappiest” SS defensive ranking worries me.
They can’t be nostalgic about Realmuto and you can’t overpay an aging C no matter how great he once was. It’s okay to have weaker hitting catchers; the game was built on it.
Finally, they have to figure out if the clubhouse and coaches can cope with another year of Nick C grumping and just let him finish his contract and hope for decent hitting here or there since they are going to eat his money anyway or are they going to find somebody who thinks he will smash in their park.
I apologize this is so long.
I’ve thought the Cards and Phillies have been a great match for a trade, and Cards have cleared enough payroll space to eat some short term contracts to get a big return. Cards send Donnie, Nado (paying entire 2026 salary), Walker, JoJo, and one of Pagés/Crooks for a return of Bohm, Castellanos, Griffin Burkholder, Matthew Fisher, and Miller. Donnie fills in as a super utility that plays some position most days, Walker gets new life in the Philly OF mix, and Nado can hit 6th in that lineup. This also frees up ~$20 mil in salary space for a big ticket guy like Bo or possibly Tucker and buys time for DeMartini and Rincon to grow and eventually fill in the infield when Donnie and Nado leave in 2 years.
Way too many parts for Dombrowski to work on. He will be retired already at the pace he works.
Realistically, it just depends on his price tag to be honest. Bichette has been an okay defender a short in his career before, though I imagine a move to second or third probably benefits him and whatever team signs him more.
scruffmcgruff: It always depends on the price tag. Nothing to be honest about.
Props for saying absolutely nothing.
Hey I can appreciate any props given to me even the ones given sardonically lol
Now Alfred’s gonna say nothing about someone else saying nothing, and hopefully someone does the same to me
Oppo nacho: OK I’ll bite. Nothing.
Seems like much ado about …
His price will be high and for many yrs. Thats why he is a free agent. To go to the highest bidder or sucker.
Highly doubt it. But would be fun.
Dombrowski probably just kicked the tires and moved right along, but Heyman will make it a bigger deal.
Exactly.
Brian Cashman is probably willing to take on some expensive contract from an underperforming veteran so the Phills can pick up Bichette….
Clip,
Don’t tell Cashman that Castellanos is a right-handed bat. He’ll make him Josh Donaldson 2.0.
If the Dodgers want him, he goes there. They may be using other teams for price leverage.
I think it’s planted story to get JT and his agent’s attention.
If they move on from JT, maybe. But I doubt it,
Interesting.
I think the Dodgers actually deferred long ago.
Deferred their interest?
Love that we get this news “suddenly” popping up mere hours after Bichette’s main suitor signs a different infielder. Certainly no connection there whatsoever…
Sir, your dripping sarcasm has left a puddle on the floor. The mop is in the closet at the end of the hall. ~
Heyman like when Reggie Dunlop in Slapshot placed the phony story in local newspaper of Chiefs moving to Florida
Wait Mahomie and Reid moving to Fl say it ain’t so
The proverbial “Team X checked in on Player Y” story.
Alfred E Neumann: That’s the type of story that gets written on a rumors website.
Props for saying absolutely nothing. lol
ghostofmookiebetts: Thank you. I never purported otherwise.
Sardonic props for Alfred E. Neuman; who responds “Your post about my post saying absolutely nothing says absolutely nothing.”
Some Christmas …this box is empty!
Interested? Interesting. Interesting? Interested
Makes you realize how interesting a word interesting really is.
Interesting.
And then… not so interested.
Boris,
Yo Heyman, I’m gonna need a story that’s all completely Bichette. Maybe include the Phillies, they haven’t checked in yet.
I’m disappointed I had to read this far down to see the Heyman/Boras mouthpiece angle. Do better next time please 😂
Look at the source. This is a nothing burger
A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
Go eat yer peanut butter and banana sandwich.
Anybody know if winter ball was affected by the last night’s events ?
Pretty sure SFG had some players there.
They don’t play winter ball on military bases.
Great intel.
Thanks
@oldgfan
Yes, it will finally be better now that they’ve removed that ideologue.
Play-offs there have been suspended.
All big market suitors, no one dropping the cash yet.
I’m hoping Bo goes to the NL and not a team I hate so Phillies would be nice
Heyman is a Bora$$ stooge who helps Scotty Boy drive up interest. Nothing new here…………
except Bichette isn’t his client if that’s what you’re getting it
True. However Bichette is not repped by Boras. He is repped by Vayersports.
My bad— I was thinking Bregman….. but that actually helps in a way as driving up Bichette’s price helps Bregman… so I wouldn’t put it past Bora$$.
The Phils looking at Bichette is another idle rumor that should stay idle. It’s unlikely the Phils will pay Bichette what he’s looking for. After all, according to recent reports, the Phils organization is losing money and are already over the luxury tax threshold this season without even resigning Realmuto or Suarez.
The Phils should keep Castellanos as their right-handed outfield platoon since they’re not going to get anything for him in a trade and have to pay most of his $20 million salary to another team. He’s a better hitter than they’re likely to find at this stage of the game and his defensive work is not as bad as many believe. He’s had a nearly 1.000 fielding average with the Phils for the past 4 years.
Finally, they should trade for Jazz Chisolm who the Yankees are trying to move. He might be the best available player who can be acquired by a trade at this moment. He plays CF, 2B, and 3B, can steal bases, and can really hit.
Watch for each of these suggestions to show up in sports writers’ columns within the next two weeks.
My previous posts here on keeping Castellanos and the mistake the supposedly financially-struggling Phils made by signing DH Schwarber to a 5-year $150 million contract have already shown up in various columns within 2 weeks of being posted here.
Castellanos is a terrible fielder, hitter, baserunner and clubhouse influence. Other than that he’s pretty good.
All we can say about him is, he’s already ours and maybe he will not completely start sh8t with everyone if Adolis starts on a night he felt like playing. Maybe he will fly around RF throwing home to gun down guys just to get his next contract. Or maybe he will curse out Topper in Spring training and it’s on the front page ever single day, and people boo him and he flips the bird, etc.
joe, Castellanos is a .272 lifetime hitter with 250 homers. and a .321 lifetime OBP. So, he’s not a terrible hitter.
He has a nearly 1.000 fielding average in his 4 years in Philly and has one of the very best outfield arms in all of baseball. So, he’s not a terrible fielder.
He’s a smart baserunner.
His honesty and courage to speak his mind to management may make him a terrible clubhouse influence in your eyes, but he’s a player’s player, rather than someone who makes nice in front of the camera and then causes dissension behind everyone’s backs – the type this current Phils team knows too well.
He’s been an above-average player his entire career and multiple-times all-star, and much more valuable to the Phils than the media has portrayed. He’s sure to have a great year in 2026 since it is his final year before becoming a free agent. So, the Phils should instruct Thomson to mind his manners and leave Castellanos alone while he finishes his contract. The Phils have more to gain by keeping Castellanos than by trading him for nothing in return and being forced to pay his salary while he plays for a different team.
Losing money? If the Phillies don’t have the best attendance in MLB then it’s the Dodgers. They are either 1st or 2nd in butts-in-seats. They are fully solvent and rolling like a well oiled financial machine.
Please pass what you are smoking
At the beginning of the offseason people were speculating about a 200+ contract for Bichette. I doubt he reaches 100, now that Toronto is out on him. I can see him on the Sox at around 3/58.
Why not Turner to CF instead of Bo to 2nd or 3rd?
2, The Phils won’t play Turner in CF because he wants to paly SS. Unfortunately, he has never been the Phils’ best fielding SS. Stott and Sosa are much better, and Miller is said to be even better. He may have lost a few steps over the past few years. So, CF might be too adventurous for him. If it came down to it and the Phils acquired a better option at SS, the Phils should play Turner somewhere in the outfield, regardless of his own preferences.
Turner is one of the fastest players in MLB, you can look it up and verify that.
Bo might have to take a one year, higher AAV to show he can be jury free while bringing up his defensive numbers to earn that big contract.
“Bo Bichette’s market moving slowly. What we know (hint…it’s not much).”
Tucker’s market moving slowly. What we know (hint…it’s not much).”
Is this for real or Bichettes agent trying to drum up competition for him after what may be Blue jays backing off?
Reading this while taking a Bichette right now.
Don’t forget to Phlush when you’re done.
Bichette shouldn’t have declined his qualifying offer with the Jays. I thunk he overestimated his value. He can be a great hitter however he’s injury prone and would be better switching to 2nd base.
Shouldn’t have declined $22 mil/1 year? I would wager he gets a better deal than that. Even if he settles for a 3 year Bregman/Alonso type deal with opt outs, he’s better off than the QO.
3 yr deal for small money like 22 a yr? I doubt that.
No reason not to sign him and they could get creative with the money. He’d be an infusion of youth into a veteran team that will all age together. Move Turner to CF, Stott to Short and let Bo play second if you keep Bohm. Your outfield from left to right is Crawford, Turner and Garcia. If you trade Bohm and bring up Aiden miller to play third, that works too. Bohm might get you a nice reliever or another right handed hitting outfielder that can/could split time with Crawford or Marsh in the outfield.
Any money left over, I’d sign Willi Castro and Seranthony Dominguez if they keep Bohm. Proven bullpen vet and a utility guy that can help the Crawfords and Milliers get adjusted,
I wouldn’t trust Turner in CF; perhaps in LF.
Yeah, left works.
Why not just trade an infielder for Jarren Duran?
I like it, but you’re not gonna move Trea to the outfield coming off is best defensive season at shortstop. Most scouts think Bichette will be a better second baseman dodo his arm strength. Out of your trade, Bryson Scott you can definitely get something back for him.
I get ya and good points. I’d hate to trade Stott for many reasons, I think he has more upside than Bohm at this point. But to your point, Stott would bring back a nice return. If I’d trade Stott, I’d ditch Bohm too, maybe go after Arreaz to play 2b and Bichette would play 3b. That’s some nice hitting to balance a power heavy lineup.
If Bohm and a prospect go to say Seattle for Arrozerena and Castillo, that is a win for the Phillies.
@libertybell444
Jays fan here. I can honestly tell you that Bo is no 3B. Both with my eye test and the stats.
Arraez is a terrible defender. He’s a worse 2B than Bichette is a SS.
bell, The Phils would have much more flexibility and get a lot more bang for their buck by trading for Jazz Chisolm who the Yanks are trying to move.
I’d be open to Jazz. Not that my opinion means anything but you get versatility with him.
Bryson can play anywhere he is just that talented defensively. Bichette basically gives you another trait turn off offensively. 300/18 and get on base guy. Phillies need that. It makes so much sense that it’s not gonna happen. Not to mention the fact the Phillies need another right handed bat. I can live with a defensive oriented Raphael Marchan behind the plate and just hit him ninth. You lose very little defense back there with him.
But he’s injury-prone, and then what? Defensively, yes he’s good.
Are you talking about Marshawn? If you have to put Garrett Stubbs back there, you’re still not losing that much defense. You can hide somebody in the nine hole if everybody else can hit.
Yes, Marchan. And Stubbs worked as a backup mostly because JT is a workhorse. Just seems if Marchan is the guy, the Phils need more than Stubbs as a backup. Unless that’s now Kolozsvery?
marc,
Stott needs to start acting like a man already. If he got rid of that bubble gum AOK walk-up song of his, and shaved to show what he actually looks like underneath all the stubble, maybe he’d start playing like a man. The Phils should trade for Jazz Chisolm and trade Stott separately, while he still has some trade value.
@onthebucks
Yes, a red plaid lumberjack jacket, suspenders, a torque and an axe slung over his shoulder would make him a manlier man… And he would sing, “Oh I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK….”
I don’t disagree about the growing up part and the walk up. Same goes for a few other Phillies too. I’m amazed that someone in the comms office doesn’t give them some better advise and guide them to more fan tolerant stuff after the old stuff gets stale. AOK is as annoying as Dancing on My Own. Thank God that went away. The franchise needs to tell these guys that it’s not 2022 anymore and what was cool then is not even close to enjoyable now. Switch it up.
He is under 30. Everyone knows the Phillies aren’t interested.
Yeah, we get it 30 teams “are interested” or have “checked in” on everyone. Where is this flurry of activity you’ve been prepping us for?
Bob Nutting has been very busy investing the Pirates fans money in the markets. Look at the DOW and S&P 500 rise, Mr. Nutting is getting richer and richer.
Anyone giving Bo more than 3 years is gonna regret it big time.. his legs are finished.
Yup.
Legs are commonly finished at 27-30.
Not.
Most commentators on this website absolutely hate mlb transaction rumors.
There are no rumors. You can find out what the Pentagon is planning easier than you can find out what MLB teams are doing.
And just like mlb team rumors, you can’t believe the pentagon either.
If you can think you can see what they’re doing. If you get your information from cableTV channels then you don’t know. Those are Deep State propaganda for the masses, but there is plenty of information out there to see what the Pentagon is doing if you go outside the state media “American” outlets.
Wish the Reds were interested in Bo Bichette. Sal Stewart, Bichette, DeLacruz, McClain would be a nice infield.
If Bichette signs in Philly, Stott gets traded, not moved to third. I live in Pennsylvania & there has already been some talk about moving him to make room for top prospect Aidan Miller. So, a Bichette signing would make it even more likely he’s the odd man out
erici, There’s also talk Miller may still not be ready for prime time. Trading for Jazz Chisolm would solve a lot of problems for the Phils, give them more flexibility, and be sounder financially than overpaying Bichette.
Miller will be ready at some point this season. Maybe not opening day, but by summer, he will be. I’m not sure Chisolm would work in the Phillies clubhouse. His personality Could clash with some of the veterans & possibly manager Rob Thomson.
The problem with Chisolm is he’s another LH bat with split issues — hasn’t hit lefties all that well. The biggest argument for Bichette is he solidifies the RH bat problem the Phillies have continually been chasing.
If you look at it from a Bohm replacement perspective (makes a bit more sense than replacing Stott), you could also go with Bregman but then you just play into the age issue.
I like the idea in this piece of Bichette to 2B, Stott to 3B but there’s some risk there.
I also agree that this “interest” in Bichette may not really exist. We’ll see. I think with Imai off the board we’ll see some other Phillies moves. Still worry about rotation depth and would love to see Suarez back but they do appear to have limits to what they’ll spend.
How does “rotation depth” help the lineup plate runs in the playoffs? That IS the Phillies problem. They have no other problems and will not do anything to fix the problem.
I live in Philadelphia. Stott is more likely to stay than Bohm. You’d get less for Bohm but Stott helps the Phillies more. Fan wise, Bohm is liked a shade more than castellanos but both have tested the fan base and are babies. Very annoying. In my opinion Bichette to come to Philly and Stott remain a Phillie and Aiden miller to stay in the organization, Bohm goes and Turner moves to the outfield. More options that way.
All the teams are just driving up Bo’s price where here resigns with the Blue Jays.
Would be a good fit for Mets at 2b. Polanco can play 1B and DH. Most teams could use a high obp player . He has earned a rich payday. Who will pay it ? Dodgers can build the big blue machine if they sign him since they clearly have zero spending limit . The Phillies would have a massive lineup if they sign him. Is there a dark horse candidate ?
No on Bo. We need an OF’er. Stott is excellent at 2B and Sosa mashes lefties. Phillies had one of the most productive 2B in MLB last year. Don’t fix what’s not broken, due diligence sure.
Doubtful. I don’t think Bichette is old enough. We’ll sign him when he’s over 40 next time around.
They’re going backwards
Bichette’s shot at a huge l-t offer is dwindling. Yanks seem more ready to pay nice chunk of change for Bellinger, RSox for Bregman and Mets for Tucker.
Infield market isn’t as lacking in quality as OF, catcher or starters.
Back to Toronto or Dodgers on a few year with opt outs is foreseeable.
while I would LOVE to see Bo Bichette in red pinstripes I don’t see it happening. The Phillies are over the final limit of tax level and they will pay 110% tax on every dollar, so that will keep them from signing a big-time player as Bichette.
As a Mets fan I hope they continue to find a way run Alec bum out there everyday
The Phillies approached the off season with two top goals
1. Sign Schwarber and 2. sign Realmuto.
Beyond that, they go into 2026 with a rotation of Sanchez, Luzardo, Nola, Walker & Painter.. The last 3 were terrible in 2025.
Wheeler’s return is uncertain, after his surgery. The Phillies need another solid SP. They’re gonna miss Ranger Suarez. They need to replace him with a quality starter. THIS should be their Goal #3.
Sorry, but I don’t believe anything John Heymond tweets or says. Except for reporting a signing, the rest is Scott Boras talk. Jmo.
I seriously doubt that the Phillies are going to spend to replace Stott with Bichette, only to se JTR walk. DD trying to create leverage.
