Rockies Offer Eric Gagne Minor League Deal

By Ben Nicholson-Smith | February 18, 2010 at 4:24pm CDT

Eric Gagne has an offer for a minor league deal from the Rockies, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding (via Twitter). We heard earlier in the week that the Rockies were in the mix, with the Dodgers involved, too. Gagne threw for Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd and Jim Tracy, his former manager, but he has also thrown in front of the Dodgers, who are still in the mix.

Gagne, 34, hasn't been effective in the majors since the first part of the 2007 season. He pitched in the Can-Am league last year and is looking to return to the big leagues.

Hmmm…. Well I hope he gets a job somewhere. If it’s with Rockies though, I hope he sucks 😀 (I’d like to see him at the very least go to camp with the Dodgers).

If he strikes somebody out you know he is on roids.

Amen. No roids = Gagne can’t pitch.

you guys are all overlooking the fact that this is a minor league deal, if he plays well, the rockies win! and he could play well. now, if he plays for the rocks and does well, look at all the ex-closers that will be setting up whomever closes. betancourt, corpas, gagne, street. and then there is morales who, if he could get his shit together, could start but he did well last year at a bullpen role. could be scary to teams

Still thinks he will hold, for a few days anyway, to see if the Dodgers throw him a bone.

Actually if you google “Eric Gagne” the news item is 7 hours old… It looks as valid as all get out so I wonder why any other wire services hasn’t jumped on this

well with Street possibly going on the DL the Rockies might want an extra bullpen hand around. If he performs well, keep him. But if he sucks (most likely), then can his @$$.
