I had to go with Colby Lewis. He washed out stateside and rebuilt his career in Japan. Who knew?

Colby Lewis for sure………who can count a guy who re-signs with the same team….

Has to be Valverde. His ERA and WHIP are still both under 1. That’s ridiculous.

Petitte gets honorable mentions. Dickey has also been surprisingly effective.

I was torn the same way – but went with Andy simply because an SP is more valuable than a CL.

How can Andy Pettite be on this poll & Tim Hudson not? I get that he didn’t sign w/a different team but he was still a FA, who signed w/the Braves & has an ERA half a run LOWER than Andy Pettite. Dude hasn’t pitched less than 5.2 in any start yet & has yet to allow more than 3 ER’s in any start.

Tim Hudson was extended and never became a FA

Colby Lewis, without a doubt. Sure, he’s pitching great, but also look at the contract they handed out for him, what a steal! So many other teams could have signed this guy, but I’m sure a lot of them were unsure of the results they would get. I don’t think anyone would have predicted he’d be this good. Even if he has a miserable season next year, I still think they got enough value for that whole contract already.

Andy Pettitte and Benoit are both suspected steroid users so they dont count as good signings.

What… no John Lackey??? Yes, that’s a joke people.

Can we really cay Pettitte was a FA since we pretty much all knew it was yanks or nothing and it was more like 95% yanks, 5% nothing? But on this list, I’ll begrudgingly say Pettitte.

Where’s Joel Pineiro on this list? 9-6 record, 3.96 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 3 CG (1 SHO)… pretty good pickup for the Halos this year.

Gotta go with Pettitte here, and I must say I am very surprisingly blindsided by this great year he is having. And if Pettitte doesn’t count since it was Yankees or retire, then my vote is for Colby, much respect for working hard and reviving his career.
