Phillies Sign Nate Robertson

By Ben Nicholson-Smith | August 24, 2010 at 7:43pm CDT

The Phillies signed Nate Robertson to a minor league deal, according to Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer (on Twitter). The Cardinals signed the left-hander earlier in the month, after the Marlins released him.

The Phillies will assign Robertson to Triple A, the same level at which he struggled in the Cardinals system. The 32-year-old posted a 9.45 ERA in 20 innings at Triple A Memphis, allowing 32 hits and six walks along the way. The results weren't much better at the major league level for Robertson this year. He posted a 5.47 ERA with 5.5 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 for the Marlins.

Hope he can bounce back. He needs to work as a LOOGY in my opinion. He is no longer cpable of being a MLB starter, or AAA for that matter…

A few years back, I thought that this guy was poised to be a real good pitcher… Guess I was wrong on that one.

Shows everyone again that useless LH pitchers that continue to find a job, time after time again, regardless of how ineffective and pathetic they have performed for years.

After suffering through numerous starts of his with the Fish this year, can already feel the pain when the Phillies more than likely call him up on 9/1 and rosters expand and he actually gets into some games.. let the carnage begin.

He has great numbers against lecture so that’s good. Other than that he won’t see any major league playing time… at least I hope
