December 22nd: The Padres officially announced their signing of Song today. The deal is actually a four-year pact worth $15MM, as per Ronald Blum of the Associated Press, with the fourth year existing as a player option for Song. There is also a $7MM mutual option for the 2030 season with a $1M buyout. Song will get a $2.5MM salary in 2026, $3MM in 2027, $3.5MM in 2028, and (if he doesn’t opt out) $4MM in 2029. The Padres will also pay Song a $1MM signing bonus broken up into a $500K installment in January, and then the other $500K coming in January 2027.
Song would also receive a $1MM bonus for winning NL Rookie of the Year honors, and there is a salary escalator if he achieves a top-five finish in MVP voting. The Heroes will receive a $3MM posting fee from the Padres, representing the standard 20% posting fee attached to any contract worth $25MM or less for a KBO League player.
December 19th: The Padres are in agreement with infielder Sung Mun Song on a contract, according to a report from Robert Murray of FanSided. According to Francys Romero of BeisbolFR, it’s a three-year deal that guarantees Song around $13MM.
Song, 29, has broken out in a big way over his last two seasons playing for the KBO’s Kiwoom Heroes. After typically being a slightly below average hitter by that league’s standards in the early years of his career, Song exploded with a .340/.408/.518 (143 wRC+) slash line across 602 plate appearances during the 2024 season. He flashed 20/20 potential at the plate and walked at a career-high 10.6% clip while primarily playing third base for the Heroes. He followed up on that season with an even better year in 2025, as he slashed .315/.387/.530 (151 wRC+) with 26 homers, 25 steals, and 37 doubles in 646 trips to the plate.
Those dominant back-to-back campaigns in the KBO league were enough to convince Song to try his hand in the majors, and the Heroes made Song’s goal a reality when they posted him for MLB clubs last month. That opened a 30-day window (set to close on the 21st of December) for Song to negotiate with MLB clubs. Song has typically been viewed by scouts as a step below MLB Gold Glove winner Ha-Seong Kim, the best South Korean player to make the jump to the majors in recent years, and there’s been some debate about whether he’s more of a utility player or a proper starter at the big league level.
Song’s reported price tag is certainly affordable enough for the Padres to stomach in the event he’s more of a bench piece than a regular. A multi-year pact that pays Song less than $5MM annually figures to be quite affordable for San Diego; Jose Iglesias earned $3MM last year after being added to San Diego’s roster on a minor league deal to fill out the club’s bench mix. Song figures to fill a similar role this year to the one Iglesias held last season, chipping in around the infield and serving as a pinch-hitter.
While Song has primarily played third base throughout his career in the KBO league, that position is manned by Manny Machado in San Diego. Perhaps the Padres will look to get Machado occasional DH reps headed into his age-33 campaign, but aside from those occasional fill-in days Song figures to spend most of his time at first and second base, both of which are positions he logged significant time at in South Korea. Jake Cronenworth is currently slated to serve as San Diego’s second baseman next year, though his name has popped up in trade talks this winter. First base meanwhile, is unsettled after the departure of Luis Arraez. Gavin Sheets has some experience at the position but may be better suited for DH duties. As a result, first base could be Song’s best shot at regular reps, though it’s possible a trade of Cronenworth or the addition of a more traditional first base option like Paul Goldschmidt or Rhys Hoskins changes things.
The signing of Song comes just one day after the club agreed to reunite with right-hander Michael King on a three-year, opt-out laden contract. According to RosterResource, the Padres project for a payroll just under $217MM in 2026, with a payroll of nearly $258MM for luxury tax purposes. That’s before the addition of Song to the payroll, which at the currently reported numbers would push the team’s payroll up to around $221MM and around $262MM for luxury tax purposes. That would put them just barely below the second, $264MM luxury tax threshold for 2026.
If the Padres don’t want to go over that line, they would need to subtract salary from the roster to make virtually any more additions to the roster. That’s far from impossible, as rumors have percolated around not only Cronenworth but also players like right-hander Nick Pivetta and Ramon Laureano. A trade of Pivetta would save $20.5MM in 2026 and $13.75MM for luxury tax purposes. Cronenworth being dealt would save roughly $12.3MM in 2026 and $11.5MM for luxury tax purposes. Laureano wouldn’t save nearly as much money, as he’s due just $6.5MM next season on the final year of his contract.
Of course, it’s also possible the Padres simply stand pat from here, though doing so without adding another bat to the first base/DH mix would certainly be risky. Perhaps an addition on the trade market that comes with a lower financial cost could make some sense if San Diego neither wants to exceed the second luxury tax threshold nor trade salary to make room in the budget. Players like Triston Casas of the Red Sox and Mark Vientos of the Mets could potentially be available this winter and remain under affordable team control.

Ichiro!!
Hyeseong Kim?
Yo Pads coming in hot! I kept forgetting about this guy, but he was a +20/20 guy last season in the KBO. Pads got the IF they needed and an intriguing one to boot. Color me jelly!
Cheap, too! Could be the steal of the offseason if this dude transitions well.
I’ll take a path similar to HSK – a little slow with bat / great D in year 1 for a good fill-in / bench player and then taking over a starting spot in 2027.
Whatever he becomes 3/13 covers all of the outcomes.
Good move by the Pods, always active, seems like a low risk potentially high upside sleeper pick
Preller always seems highly attuned to what is going on in the Asian markets. He must have a guy or two scouting over there full time. Every year he seems to find somebody.
Unless he becomes unplayable due to the bat not translating, which is certainly possible. But $13M is easy to swallow.
Preller found a gem in Kim at a low cost deal, this signing is that 2.0. Works out – it’s a win, doesn’t , then it’s a small loss compared to another option on FA market. Problem is that Xander deal under the previous ownership which limits their payroll flexibility going forward.
$25.5 million wouldn’t limit payroll flexibility on most teams. Especially not on one spending $270 million like they are.
About10% of your payroll allocated to a guy for
8 years definitely limits some flexibility.
It’s not quite Yelich to the Brewers but when you consider they have Machado and Tatis locked in too—you start with a significant number for a long time.
Only in Baltimore.
Huge signing! Boom
A’s should sign Nick Madrigal to the same deal. Would be a real coup.
Could mean a number of things. He could play second or first. Moving cronenworth to 1b if he plays second.
Could mean the padres will trade cronenworth
This also could be a depth move replacing OMG.
I hope it’s not to trade Cro. Let him prove / establish himself first. Get a bunch of AB’s bouncing around between 1b, 3b and 2b resting guys or maybe a platoon situation.
If he takes off then find him more.
If he doesn’t then guys can rest in the winter.
When they signed Kim that’s exactly what they did with him. He earned his time.
The Padres would love to move Cronenworth if they could. But no team will be willing take that contract even if they gave up no players.
On the contrary. Padres value Cronenworth and his excellent defense and OPS at 2B. It’s nearly 2026, not 2016, and his $12M AAV is now viewed as team-friendly. Losing him would leave a big void in middle IF that can’t easily be filled. Any player can be traded, but they won’t trade Cronenworth unless they can get higher priority in return.
His wifey Brooke does White Sox in game interviews so maybe Jake could move here. Is Jakie any gud?
Preller has said he doesn’t view the Cronenworth contract as a burden. That doesn’t mean he won’t be traded but it does mean the Padres aren’t going to pay in prospects or $ just to get rid of him.
You’re all forgetting Croneworth has been very serviceable at SS. If the Pads are able to combine a deal to move Bogaerts contract, that would provide huge payroll flexibility, without in my opinion, sacrificing much on the field. I’m not denying Bogaerts ability in the field or with a bat, but his bat could be replaced by a traditional 1B. The Pads have something like 20 former shortstops on the field, I’m not all that worried about them covering that position. 😉 They could use another good starter, a serious need, and a competent first baseman with some thump to move runners.
I have to laugh (just a little, guys) at the NYY and Boston fans that were salivating at bagging Manson Miller and maybe Pivetta in a deal, but the “poison pill” Bogaerts that the cunning Preller was tying to insert, was killing the deal. Without moving Bogaerts contract, Preller was never gonna give up major pieces of the roster. Bogaerts and the money the move would save, WAS the deal.
Don’t mind him filling in a game or 2 if necessary but he is not an mlb SS. That is why Jose or McCoy or even T Wade filled in at SS instead of Cro.
Previously, HSK moved Bog to 2b – not Cro.
So yes, emergency and he won’t kill you but that is it.
Bogaerts has a full no trade clause in his contract.
re: “Bogaerts has a full no trade clause in his contract.”
… and he wouldn’t wave that to return to Boston, plus perhaps with additional cash enhancements? Or, maybe play with the NYY. Much as I respect the Dodgers AND the Padres, neither Boston nor the NYY are much of a “downgrade”.
The NTC is designed contractually to provide MLB players control over their destiny, so they are traded out to a backwater team with no hope of playing in the playoffs, let alone winning the W.S. at any time in the 21st century.
It depends on his priorities.
Nothing against either of those markets. They offer a lot, and for many it’s very desirable. So it’s possible.
So what you are saying is prellar was offering a deal that nobody would ever take..lol because the entire baseball world knew the boegaerts contract was double his value as soon as he signed it…the red sox literally offered half the money and nobody else was offering anything
Pool – anyone that wants to over analyze the Bog contract is free to do so. Opinions can vary based on looking at it at “in the moment” or “over the life” of the contract for value to SD.
So far, based on the value of WAR for a reference, it has been fair value. No, those last 2-3 years won’t be but that is the case with all long term contracts.
Final point – this is not on AJ. A dying owner made this call with his money and spent what he deemed he had to spend to get what at that time, was a very much needed player that had performed as Bog had over his career.
The owner didn’t give a crap about it being an overpay and it was his money so, why can’t everyone else just let it be what it is. An owners choice with his money.
Problem is that Xander’s contract is like Davis’s in Baltimore was – *unmovable*. Even at the time, it was seen as a « win now, worry later » deal. Problem is the ownership has limited the spending and no one will take that deal as his D means he is an unplayable SS who still wants to play there. At least Bichette will negotiate his deal to play at the keystone.
Junkie, are you trying to say Bogaerts value when he signed that deal was $12.75 million per year? You do realize he was a 5 WAR player in Boston.
For the Padres he had a 4.2 WAR in 2023 and has 7.4 bWAR over 3 seasons while earning $76.5 million. Nearly breakeven for them. That was a pretty devastating shoulder injury he had to end the 2024 season. One that usually takes more than a season to recover from at the plate. His defense was career best in 2025, so that part of his game has already rebounded. I think you are a little early to write him off.
Hindsight is usually 20/20 but yours is blurry.
It’s like these out-of-the-619/760-area-code-guys haven’t seen what shortstops are signing for… and Bo is about to get waaaay more than Bogey, too. I feel like Bogey gets a bad rap because he was hurt, but I’m just an ex-player superfan who watches every game from Section 104… what do I know?
It seems like he’s playing to his contract. Him and Manny having fun no trade clauses limits flexibility to some extent. But going all in requires trade-offs.
We sold 103 for different views! Haha The LF/RF bleachers might be the funniest seats in the hizzy though!! Skip is a great poster, for shizzle my nizzle. Happy Holidays web! Go FUHS Warriors 🤙🏽
107. Come on over for a beer this next year
Wow, I might have to make the drive and catch a few games at Petco next season just to meet some of the cool Padres fans here.
Web, I am not a Mets fan, but thanks for the shout out. I grew up and played college ball in two towns with only minor league teams for two different organizations and played pro ball through AA for a team from the Midwest.
I try not to comment much on articles about my favorite team, because I tend to come from a more emotional than logical standpoint. “Why didnt that bleep go after this player” or “we can’t possibly play that guy at SS”. LOL I just read the article and like the better posts and move on to other big teams to get my baseball discussing jones on. The Padres have definitely been one of the more entertaining teams, both during the season and in the offseason. Preller sure makes things exciting for you all.
LOVE the bleachers by the way. My wife used to call the seats behind home plate “the library” because you get golf claps more often than a full-throat cheer from fans.
Happy Holidays! For Gwynning and KG, Mele Kalimikimaka and Makahiki Ho!
Gwynning, they banned me for questioning Deeds. LOL. Mahalo Nui Loa. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I’m not sure which staffer did what, but I was banned twice in the past 2 months. Tim reversed it both times; maybe just shoot him an email? He seemed apologetic and/or confused. I assured him I didn’t cross any boundaries… haha. Mele Kalikimaka and Haouli Makahiki Hou Webber, Skip, KG and all the rest of the gang! 🤙🏽😎🤙🏽
Did you just invite me over for 81+ beers, Brewski? Game on! 🤣🤙🏽
Merry Christmas Eve homey
I love Cronenworth’s attitude but I think this move could be his ticket out of San Diego. Trading Croney would provide more salary room for signing one of the Japanese big three (Imai, Murakami, Okamoto). If that’s still on the Padres wish list. Song can play 2B. Very well.
Anything is possible
If I was Preller I would trade Cronenworth for a decent infield prospect that can field 2B well. and whatever else we get would be a bonus. At least I’m hoping for it. Because I dearly want one of the Japanese big three.
Why would anyone give that up for Cronenworth?
Quintana is a decent middle IF prospect, keep an eye on him. I also think Wagner has a good chance of making an impact this year. But count me as one who appreciates Cronenworth and his excellent defense and stellar OPS – hope he isn’t dealt.
I can see Wagner not making team barring an injury or trade.
Right now the only righty off the bench is campy. I could see Rosario making the team before Wagner.
Eguy Rosario?
Strongly agree Brew. Crone’s a good one. He’s an all around good fielder and you gotta love the “Crone Zone”
Jake hasn’t done anything with the bat since his rookie year.
Nut- Jake had a 117 wrc+ last year. That’s pretty good.
He was a finalist for a Silver Slugger. Some cite his only 11 HRs as a decline but forget perhaps that he missed 35% of season with wrist injury
Cronenworth makes only $12M in 2026. Even if they traded him for prospects and freed up all $12M, it still wouldn’t be enough to sign any of the top three Japanese players unless the front office is willing to go over the second tier CBT. Both Imai and Murakami are projected to make in the mid $20M range/year.
What if ownership tells you that you can pursue Imai IF you first trade Cronenworth for prospect(s)? Would you do it?
The market for Murakami has been falling. He maybe looking at closer to 16m
Tried Cronenworth at 1B, no thanks not enough offense for an offensive position.
O Hearn
Lowe
Andujar who had a really good season for the Reds
Prospect wise with Busch entrenched at 1B could call the cubs about Jonathan Long
Tampa has two 1B- Xavier Isaac and Tre Morgan
Tons of possibilities hoping to get better production from 1B
Or how about trading for Gore and CJ Abrams? Yes, it would likely mean both Schoolcraft and Mayfield are traded (along with Cruz probably) but think about it!
They also really needed someone to play 3b 15-25 games whether Manny likes it or not.
Brew
Good point. There has been a lot of talk about the padres needing to give manny more days off. At least DH days.
Can Cronenworth play 3B ??? I can see the Mariners pivoting to Crone if they lose out on Donovan.
He can play any IF position including pitcher, which he was in minors, except C. Wonder if Mariners will be in on Murakami?
Padres need to keep Machado’s bat in the lineup and playing DH once a week seems like the perfect way to accomplish that. He is going to be 33 in 2026 and will need a bit of rest from throwing his body around playing the infield.
Doubt if the power translates, and certainly won’t be a .300 hitter. Another shiny international object. But the price is certainly right, and if he turns into a semi regular backup at the bases and is slightly below average with the bat, that’s value. And someone will always trade for him trying to “unlock:” what he did in Korea. Decent move.
Pretty much the same #’s as Kim before he came over, so if he can simple be the same as Kim over here for an aav of about $4.2 mil, thats a steal.
25/25 guy… Hit like Mays, run like Hayes
You may run like Mays, but you hit like…….
This might be the most underrated signing so far. Dudes been awesome for kiwoom
Nice to see some playoff teams adding.
Love the signing
2nd base, run prevention
Can hit
Love the signing! And already hear the Petco chants…
Go Pads! Happy Holidays errybody
@gwynning. Sung-mun dong. Like the signing marsh
youtu.be/CaOkTKfxu44?si=tsl2pY_wCP8NQEJu
A classic, always good for a chuckle… cheers Huds! Happy Holidays to you and yours brah 🤙🏽😎🤙🏽
Yay, Gwynnings awake. Your team putting in the work!
Doing what we needed to! Really wanted Dustin May on a personal note, but so stoked to get King back. Roster almost full, just need one more arm… and I feel like AJ can gamble a little with the 40th Man spot. Look for high-upside SP potential!
That’s what I was thinking. Just like the Ha Song Kim chants.
Mooning will become part of the wave?
Aloha Bruddah! Nice signing! I need some kimchi and rice now along with kalbi ribs! I hope he slots in well and can produce like he has in Korea. Mahalo Nui!
It seems like a good value signing. The floor is a versatile utility guy, the ceiling is perhaps something close to what our beloved HSK delivered. I’m just happy to see some moves this winter, finally
Can never count out AJ Preller being creative and bringing in somebody surprising with upside that nobody saw coming. Extend that man a contract!
The 2nd move of the Padres!
Good for both
AJ tends to work in batch mode, could be more moves to follow this weeken
d
Song, had for a song.
Not a bad option for corner infield depth.
Dang, go Pads.
Their best move is going to be when they deal Pivetta. Kinda brilliant in how they’ll end up paying him for one year (a really great performance) and then bail out before the higher salary levels kick in.
So when will mlbtr be publishing retractions regarding padres looking to shed salary?
….
They will issue the retraction tomorrow morning, is the “rumor”. Then when the padres do trade Pivetta and Cronenworth to shed salary, they will issue another retraction of that retraction shortly thereafter. But then late in the spring, when they sign a lingering power bat to a backloaded high AAV contract, they will of course have to issue a retraction of the retraction of the retraction. And everyone except Huh, MLBTR Wrong Again will be very annoyed.
Signed king
Trade Pivetta cronenworth
Sign high aav bat
So they added salary and got no salary relief
So padres seeking salary relief all off season was just a false rumor spread by mlbtr
Maybe 2026 should include a New Year’s resolution to not spread false rumors like a bunch of middle school girls
Preller is on fire! What will he do next? Mega trade with the Mets? This guy is the most entertaining GM out there and always goes for it.
This has the potential to be a great deal not only for the talent acquired but the price of the investment…
Neil Diamond now has another stadium for his music other than Boston
🙂
Maybe all the Padres doom-posters can take the weekend off.
Song Song blue
And there it is. This site just can’t write an article without saying something about the padres not having any money.
First it was in a surprise move the padres sign king.
Now they sign another dude, yes this dude isn’t gonna make much. Followed by speculation of who they will trade to free up some money.
Padres added the 5th most in payroll last year of any team. Yet all offseason it was they were broke.
Here we are again and yet another big signing followed by an additional signing.
You never know what Preller will do
Next but shedding payroll doesn’t seem to be the driver.
Blind narratives often outlive reality.
Did you notice how the King deal is structured? Small salary in the first year, then larger salaries. Song sign a low contract just to get to MLB. AJ is being creative, but still budget conscious. That’s why Privetta is on the trade block. They already have the extra starter they need but will trade him because of his increasing salary. Chances are King will opt out or be traded after his salary increases, also. If you’re waiting for that retraction, please don’t hold your breath.
Styme – I agree King will opt out if he has a solid year, but nothing to keep from staying in SD – maybe even before the opt out an extension is done.
I could be wrong but the backloading of contracts isn’t as big of a a deal now with the AAV CBT taxes.
I think this type contract is favorable to SD based on the likely lockout coming.
Pivetta isn’t traded unless it’s: (1) a haul too good to pass up – not likely; or (2) part of a double or triple trade by AJ which, you can never count out with AJ.
Sure. Being budget conscience is a good thing. But there’s no evidence payroll is being slashed (as the dominant media narrative continues to echo) or even reduced at all I love the deal for King, if he’s great in 2026 then everyone wins.
AJ has impressed me the last few seasons with the deals he’s made with the situation he’s been in. Very creatively structured contracts and surprising moves. I think we’re 1 SP away from running it back
Yeah, AJ’s reasonable critics had something to say years ago but his roster/contract architecture post PS has been very good. I really like the Song addition this week, but I’m not too excited about adding Murakami. Another quality SP is priority and apparently they went hard for Merrill Kelly. The goofy notion that they’re slashing payroll has been clearly debunked by their actions.
Not sure why everyone gushes over Prellar. Sure he makes everything exciting, but when you are making as many signings and trades as he does you’re bound to hit on some. However, in my opinion, he’s made some really bad contracts that have hamstrung the Padres. The Bogarts deal has been a bad one. The Cronenworth deal has been a bad one. The Myers deal was a bad one, and hamstrung the Padres, which I believe Prellar was part of. The left-handed reliever we got from the Yankees and the left-handed reliever we got from overseas have been a disaster. I won’t say the Machado contract was a bad one, but he sure hasn’t done anything in the postseason wherever he’s been. Of course this is only my opinion and I’m sure many people will disagree with it.
The Bogey deal and Manny, Yu, Joe, and Jake extensions were Peter Seidler’s wish, so was the Soto deal. PS went for it and also gifted his fav players, to put that all on his subordinate AJ seems unfair. Preller made some mistakes for sure but what deals in the past two years were bad?
I mentioned them above.
Kelly’s offer was 4yr/$80MM
Really wanted the Angels to land this guy.
Hope it works out well for San Diego
@halosheavenjj. Yeah the same he would’ve slotted in fine. I guess okamoto works as well, but he might be out of the price range.
I was hoping the Cubs would land this guy as a depth piece. He seemed like a potential low risk, high upside guy with positional versatility.
Good depth piece, better than Mason McCoy.
Awesome move for the Padres. Which brings me to the Pirates. Isn’t this the PERFECT guy for the Pirates to sign? Cheap! Offer up Kyle Schwarber way lower than what he ended up getting but not signing a guy like this. There HAS to be a salary floor implemented in the next CBA, period!
Friendly reminder that players decide where to sign; it’s not the team’s decision.
it’s a tongue twister just to say the signing of song
BEST case scenario: plays full time , puts up 15hr-15sb-.290avg
WORST case scenario: plays off the bench as UT, ends up back in korea by the end of the deal
Is this a promo for that movie “Song Sung Blue” coming out???? Hmmmmmmm. I’m down if Kate Hudson is involved
Good signing plus King means the Madres might finish ahead of the Rockies, possibly AZ, but still miss the playoffs.
On another note the Padres have made the playoffs 4 times since 2020. #facts
Awesome depth signing, really love the KBO connection Padres are working on.
Why would they care about going over the second luxury tax line? For me, the only ones that matter are the very first one and the third one (the one that lowers your first rounder by ten spots).
I’m guessing ownership is eyeing the outstanding debt on a potential sale foremost. I’ll give them slight kudos for fielding a competitive team with a healthy payroll versus enacting a firesale, even if the former is in their best interests.
I’m not sure the new ownership group we desire would be enticed by an empty roster and an outraged fanbase brought on by a firesale though.
I’m inclined to agree with you. The Madres are a dumpster fire. They’re just delaying the inevitable imo.
They shouldnt. I think people just associate the 2nd luxury tax tier with over budget. The Padres actual cash outflow is much lower than the 264M 2nd tier though…around 215M now..plus 6M in tax. Not sure what their actual cash budget is…but if its 225M they’re basically done…250M they’ve got about 20M more in contract value to play with.
He can be had for a Song…
Second verse, same as the first!
I like it. Could start or come off the bench. Padres probably sign a First Baseman as well (they could do worse than Rhys Hoskins or Nathaniel Lowe), Maybe they bring back Arraez as there has been zero mentioned about him (weird for a guy that won three straight batting titles)
They really don’t need Arraez, they already have 3 LH hitters who can play 1B (Sheets, Cronenworth, Song). I respect Arraez’s hit tool, but Sheets and Cronenworth both had a higher OPS than Arraez last year, so I don’t think he really moves the needle much with what they already have.
Hoskins or Goldschmidt make way more sense to me since they give a RH option
Re: LHB. Agree with you Herc, and would suggest they not go after O’Hearn and Murakami for same reason. RHBs are in demand but short supply though. I’m really intrigued by Okamoto.
I see the same problems for the Padres that we seem to see the past several seasons: at least two unsettled spots in the lineup. In recent years 1B/DH/LF have been revolving doors. When LF is covered its 1B/DH, when 1B was covered it was LF/DH. Lots of players have been funneled through with no long-term solutions at any of them
I am not a Padres fan and am going off what I see for their depth charts. I don’t think that they are looking exclusively for a RHB. I would think they would look for another LHB for 1B.
5 of the 9 projected to start for them are RHB. Tatis, Machado, Bogaerts, Laureano, and Fermin. Not sure they will play him, but if Campusano is in the lineup that is 6 RHB. Their bench would then be Song L, Mccoy R, Wagner L, Johnson S.
The platoon advantage would favor adding another LHB. Especially one with power that can play 1B.
You’re as Padre fan as any! I’m just considering that with LHBs in Song and Sheets, they will need a RHB platoon at DH and off bench. Maybe Campy becomes that I dunno
Song and Sheets sounds like a movie about a Vegas escort and and Elvis impersonator who solve crimes together.
What streaming option has that flick? I’d watch it! 🤣
Mariners whiffed on this…
Walk up song has to be Song sung blue
Ha, Damn!! First time I heard Nippon org was posting him that song popped into my head , I even made up lyrics to it.
I like these moves the last two days, I think it’s a sign the Pads are at least going to attempt to compete this next season. I was getting worried for awhile thinking we were going to lose both King and Cease, but at least we get King back who’s more of a consistent pitcher than Cease IMO if he’s healthy. Song should be a nice addition to the bench or possibly a starting role if he has a good spring or AJ decides to pull off another trade. I do think Miller is safe for now, but could definitely see Pivetta or Cronenworth be moved if the price is right. I was hoping they were going to add Dustin May but that’s out of the question now. I think Zac Gallen would be a nice addition if we can get him. Maybe offer him a similar deal with opt outs and maybe Niebla can fix him. He would virtually replace Cease at a fraction of the cost. We’ll see how the rest of the off season plays out though.
I like this move, either for bench depth or to make Jake expendable. Hoping AJ has some creativity left. We need a real first baseman.
How much for the O’Hearn in the window? He’s got good pop…
The longer O’Hearn stays on the market, the more I think he falls into our price range. I think maybe we could pull off either O’Hearn or Arreaz but not both. Given the choice between the two I still would choose O’Hearn I think.
My dog barked after I read that, Gwynning.
Hahaha, Happy Holidays Reds! 🤙🏽🤣🤙🏽
His walk up song has to be “The Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin, right?
If he plays as well for the Padres as he did in Asia, his walk up music should be “The Song remains the same” by Led Zeppelin.
Try saying that story headline three times fast. “Sign Sung-Mun Song”
Got him for a song!!! yeah i know i will show myself out!!!
Get Back In Here!!!
The San Diego Padres. LOL!
Ramos,
They are efforting to compete year after year. There is nothing wrong with coming up slightly short. At least they are trying instead of crying poor.
Dodgers did the same before they finally broke through in 2020.
LOL!
Good deal!
Did Neil Diamond write a song about him?
Song Sung Moon?
