9:01pm: WEEI's Alex Speier says the D'Backs offered Montero to the Red Sox for Michael Bowden and were turned down.
6:48pm: According to Ed Price, the D'Backs are telling people they plan to keep catchers Chris Snyder and Miguel Montero. They did not like the way the market was shaping up.

Thank god they r keeping them Montero is there best pinch hitter and snyder is the learder

It's GM speak to try to gain leverage. It's common knowledge now that the D-Backs are in financial trouble so I'm assuming teams are asking for salary dump type deals with Montero or Snyder included without having to give up talent since they'd be taking on a bad contract with them.

I don't think the Red Sox saw either of them as possibilities.
Montero doesn't have the prowess defensively or the leadership skills to be brought along into a starting role for the Sox, and Snyder is too old and established to fit the Red Sox needs.

pretty sure if a team is willing to eat Eric Byrnes awful contract the D-backs would happily give up Montero or Snyder without blinking.
sounds like GM posturing to me.
also odd how after 2 catching trades (hernandez/laird) in the last few days the Dbacks are suddenly saying there is no market to their liking.....
