Do you remember Lowry pitching last Spring?
Zito>>>Lowry.
Sad but true.

It is entirely my fault for not ignoring those types of questions...I have no will power sometimes.

Lowry was hurt. Pitchers can suck abnormally when injured.
And, he outperformed Zito in 2007.

The idea of moving the Muprhy-Tatis platoon to 1B if the Mets can sign a guy like Holiday next offseason has actually grown on me. I agree its not a longterm solution, but if you can get a slugger for LF, its likely a better option than giving Delgado a two year deal (I would offer him arb though) or bringing in a guy like Adam LaRoche. The Mets will have lots of other options for 1B after 2010. Ryan Howard will be FA, Prince Fielder will be in his last year of arb, maybe Ike Davis or someone else from the farm steps up, etc. Tatis-Murphy is going to be a nice little stopgap for the Mets for a few years, their hand won't be forced into overpaying for a weak veteran.
