Nationals Claim Carlos Rivero

The Nationals announced that they have claimed third baseman Carlos Rivero off waivers from the Phillies. The move gives Washington 37 players on its 40-man roster.

Rivero, 23, spent 2011 in the Phillies' organization, mostly with Double-A Reading, hitting .275/.331/.440 with 15 homers with the R-Phils. The former shortstop was originally signed by the Indians as a non-drafted free agent in 2005 before being claimed off waivers by the Phillies in November 2010.

Might actually be the minor League replacement for Rendon if the Nats package him up for Gio

really am beginning to dislike the gnats

    • Out of jealousy? I mean they are building a team correctly to their needs, not like the Yankees or Angles where they just throw money at the best players available

if you say having bud steal a team from another place and then put you in somebody else’s backyard and then receiving the 1st pick in the draft every year and then handing out 126 mil dollar deals to 230 hitter , then yes that is the right way¬†

Jayson Werth says hi, as do the failed attempts to buy other big names like Tiex a few years back.

        Get off your high horse.

  4. If he sticks, AAA is highly likely, Nationals system is extremely lacking in thirdbasemen, Matt Skole is the only one with potential and he is in Low A

Maybe lacking in depth, but having Zimmerman and Rendon isn’t a bad start.

  6. Agreed, I just forsee Rendon moving to a different infield position

  7. I don’t know where you’ve been this offseason but the Angels spent $254m on Pujols and $77.5m on CJ Wilson…
