The Mets have EVERY reason NOT to pursue big free agents this offseason. They have a terrible team with injury prone and underperforming players, a weak lineup, a bad bullpen, several big contracts, and a barren farm system.
They could sign Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Craig Kimbrel, and Dallas Keuchel and I *still* don’t think they make the playoffs next season.
Wahoo What a Finish!
Always the Jake with some great solutions for the Indians. But having been an Indians fan my whole life I’m fully prepared to be disappointed come August 1st. The front office just isn’t creative enough to make meaningful trades at the deadline.

Lifetime Tribe fan here, and I was shocked they pulled off the Hand trade, but I’m not expecting them to effectively address their OF needs by 7/31. Biggest problem this team has is Kipnis, and until they either bench him or somehow get rid of him, it’s only gonna get worse.

Trade Skaggs now. Before he gets hurt again. And he has some trade value.
Philliesfan4life
Skaggs would bring back a lot for them, I did hear the yankees were looking at him.
ThePriceWasRight
the angelsnneed to trade Skaggs and shutdown Heaney.
Philliesfan4life
or shut them both down because they are having breakout years.

To trade Harper or not to trade Harper. Nats are now below .500, and Aug 1 is 2 days away. It would be an easier decision if another team was running away with the division and the wildcard was way off in the distance. I know a lot of people will disagree with this comparison, but I look at Harper and the Nats much the same way I saw Barry Bonds and the Giants. SF didn’t win a World Series until Bonds was gone, and I think Rizzo should suck it up and deal Harper for the best offer now. My guess is that trade alone might be the spark this team needs to make the post season.
It would be a work of art for Rizzo to pull off a 3-team deadline deal that would net WAS JT Realmuto and send Harper to another contender like CLE or COL.
Melchez
Harper to Cleveland would be huge.
Astros need an of also. I don’t see them spending big prospects. Maybe more of a leyonis Martin type for cf… they could also use NikoGoodrum… for when Gonzalez walks. Tigers need a 1b… Why not Beer?
