It’s been an unusual trip through free agency for Bo Bichette. The infielder is one of the most attractive free agents on the market as a bat-first shortstop with multiple All-Star appearances under his belt who will only be 28 years old next year, but he’s not gotten much attention in the rumor mill this winter as players like Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, and Cody Bellinger have absorbed most of the offseason attention. Perhaps that lack of buzz has been due to a widespread assumption that Bichette, who has long spoken about his desire to stay in Toronto for his entire career, was sure to remain with the Blue Jays going forward. That’s an illusion that’s been shattered by the Jays’ addition of Kazuma Okamoto and their reportedly increased aggression in the market for Tucker, however. If the Blue Jays appear to be pivoting towards other stars, where does that leave Bichette? A look at his potential landing spots:
Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox haven’t been shy about their desire to either re-sign or replace Bregman, adding to an infield mix that already includes Trevor Story and Marcelo Mayer as likely starting options. Bichette would certainly be as strong an addition as any for the Red Sox, adding a transformational right-handed bat to their heavily left-handed lineup. Bichette would likely be the weakest defender at shortstop between himself, Story, and Mayer, but that shouldn’t be a significant problem seeing as Bregman himself does not play shortstop and Bichette has expressed a willingness to move off his native position headed into 2026.
All of that makes Bichette a great fit for the Red Sox, which is surely why they held a video meeting with him last month. Even so, there are some potential obstacles. The team has reportedly started to be more aggressive in their pursuit of Bregman in free agency, and it’s nearly impossible to imagine Boston bringing in both players. Even if they don’t bring Bregman back into the fold, the Red Sox have shown a clear preference for utilizing the trade market to improve rather than free agency, so perhaps someone like Brendan Donovan or Ketel Marte would hold more appeal.
Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are a more recent entrant into the Bichette sweepstakes, as they’ve been connected to him in recent weeks. Chicago has had a very quiet offseason so far, but with Tucker expected to head elsewhere in free agency it’s easy to see why they might want to bring in a big bat to supplement the offense. As the #2 free agent in this year’s class behind Tucker, Bichette would certainly qualify, and his relative youth could be attractive to a Cubs team that is building up a core of young talent that includes Pete Crow-Armstrong, Matt Shaw, Michael Busch, and Cade Horton with more youngsters on the way.
On the other hand, Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner are the league’s best defensive middle infield combination at the moment. Bringing Bichette into the fold would seemingly either require Bichette to move to third base (thereby pushing Shaw into a utility role) or trading Hoerner to free up the keystone. The team’s front office already gave Shaw a vote of confidence earlier this winter, but Hoerner’s name has come up occasionally in trade rumors this winter as he heads into his final season before free agency.
Los Angeles Dodgers
As with the Cubs, Los Angeles’s interest in Bichette is a somewhat recent development. It’s hardly ever a shock to see the Dodgers involved in the market for a top free agent, and Bichette is no exception to that. After a down season in 2025 from Mookie Betts, adding Bichette’s right-handed bat to the middle of the lineup could be very attractive for the Dodgers in order to help balance out the big lefty bats offered by Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman.
With that being said, an infield consisting of Betts at shortstop, Bichette at second base, and Max Muncy at third base could leave much to be desired defensively. What’s more, such an alignment would require moving Tommy Edman back into center field on a daily basis, a move the club could be hesitant to make given his injury history. Of the winter’s top free agents, Tucker seems like a more straightforward fit for the Dodgers given their weak outfield mix. Even with that being said, however, the Dodgers’ financial muscle and eagerness to build on their back-to-back World Series wins leaves just about anything on the table for the club.
Toronto Blue Jays
While much of the discourse surrounding alternative suitors for Bichette is due to the seemingly closing window for him to return to Toronto, that doesn’t mean the Blue Jays are completely out of the running. Bichette’s affection for the only team he’s known since being drafted in the second round back in 2016 has been widely reported for years now, and his close connection with fellow star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. surely makes a return to Toronto the most attractive option from his own perspective. While Tucker is a more straightforward fit for the team’s needs after signing Okamoto, Bichette would still certainly be an extremely viable alternative if the bidding for the star outfielder gets outside of the Jays’ comfort zone. Placing Bichette at second base and either moving Ernie Clement into a bench role or having Okamoto split time between first base, third base, DH, and the outfield corners in order to create playing time for Clement could certainly be a viable option.
Other Options
Those four teams are perhaps the most feasible options for Bichette, but they’re far from the only ones. The Phillies have been connected to him and could certainly fit him into the lineup if they were to more significantly alter their lineup by dealing Alec Bohm, but signing Bichette seems likely to complicate their ability to re-sign J.T. Realmuto. The Yankees have also been connected to Bichette and might be his best chance at playing shortstop in 2026 given Anthony Volpe’s difficult year last season, but they presently seem focused on signing Bellinger and adding to their rotation, making a pursuit of Bichette lower on their list of priorities. The Giants could certainly use an upgrade at the keystone over Casey Schmitt, but they’ve been more focused on trade options like Donovan and Hoerner than the free agent market. The Tigers could theoretically put Bichette at shortstop in 2026 alongside Gleyber Torres before sliding him over to second when Torres hits free agency next year in order to make room for top prospect Kevin McGonigle, but Detroit’s front office seems largely content to head into 2026 with the same group that brought them back-to-back playoff berths the past two seasons.
Where do MLBTR readers ultimately think Bichette will land? Have your say in the poll below:

Blue Jays blew it when they signed Okamato. I think they will get Tucker and Bichette goes to LAD.
I don’t know about that, Barger is the only one who’s seemingly displaced at the moment. Best thing for them would be to find a way to make Santander go away. Then you could have Barger and Lukes in the corners with Schneider and Clement as their platoon partners, and Bichette at 2B.
Who will take Santander? Also, I would keep him and hope for a bounce back.
Valid. Point remains though that none of Okamoto, Barger or Lukes plays 2B, so they still have a little bit of a hole there, and signing Tucker would mean both Barger and Lukes don’t have a starting job.
Trade Barger to the Tigers.
I think Jays will find takers if they help pay his salary. That would help pay for Bo or Tucker and free up a spot for their bench guys.
Barger starts over Santander
The Jays have a great number of keystone-type guys, including Clement, Schneider, Gimenez and many more great minor leaguers ready to step up
Gotta play the best team.
Springer
Barger
Guerrero Jr.
Okamoto
Varsho
Kirk
Santander
Clement
Gimenez
Easily slide in Tucker or Bichette if they return. Santander should not start if he hasnt improved in the spring.
Lukes, Schneider, Loperfido, Heineman, Straw on the bench.
They have so many options now and I can see a piece or two being traded for bullpen help.
Highly doubt they envision Lukes as an every day player. Barger isnt as good a fielder but much better offensively. If Barger is displaced in the infield he goes to the outfield. He’s played his way to an every day role.
That violent swing he has needs to be in the lineup every day. I’d almost try Barger at 2b can’t be any worse than Schneider. Give him the offseason and spring to try and get it figured out while also getting some reps at 3b and RF
Barger has maybe a Top 3 or 5 arm in baseball, and you, bigdaddyt, want to waste it at second base?
Come on…
Where else is he gonna play. I want him in the lineup everyday. If he has to be second baseman 2-3 games a week so be it
Barger should either play 3B or RF.
Barger at 2B would be a criminal waste of his arm strength. I’d rather move Okamoto to 2B if it came to that (in the event of a Tucker signing).
Hard to make Santander go away other than by paying the outstanding money on his contract and releasing him. That was one stupid signing.
If one bad year for an offensive player ruined them, Bo would have taken the QO.
He’s 31 and has been consistently 20%+ better than average at the plate, he will be fine and the deal will be fine
He’s heading into his 28yr old season Bichette. Bregman his 32nd
Barger isn’t displaced, Lukes is. And it’s fine, this is exactly the same config they had last year except Okamoto instead of Bichette. If they sign Tucker or Bichette, then you look at moving someone.
What exactly did they blow?
okamato could easily put up similar value at a drastically lower price and commitment, and they will have two GG defenders at 2B/SS.
Bo is a complete luxury at this point if the price point works, otherwise the team will be perfectly fine.
@ dusty
Do you think Bo will accept a price point that works?
It won’t be anytime soon, but eventually he’ll realize that while 60-80 million isn’t 200 million, it’s also not nothing. And it’s not like he can put it off to next season on a pillow contract. There’s a good chance there is no next season.
I’d say the shorter term deal he ends up taking, the more likely he is to come back to the jays.
If the Phillies end up giving him 160, then he’s gone, but if he settles for 2/60 with an opt out he will probably want to be in a comfortable situation in a hitter friendly park.
I don’t see the dodgers going after Bichette.
Dodgers need a solid OF more than they need 2B/SS. Signing Bo would especially make Edman your everyday CF and idk about that.
Dodgers have three of the best OF prospects in baseball.
And their top prospects so often don’t pan out, despite all the hype. Other teams gobble them up in trades, while L.A. gets the better player.
This is one of the reasons why I think they need to go after a shorter-term OF solution, such as Donovan.
If I was the Blue Jays id rather have Bichette over Tucker.
Okamoto is why Tucker is less of a fit.
It’s a travesty and very nearly a disgracee, if I may be so bold, that the Mariners were not included on this for Bo. Here we go again, the Mariners might as well be in the Korean League, the way they are forgotten, dismissed, spit upon, shamed, ignored, scoffed at, belittled, bullied, disrespected, an afterthought of an afterthought…oh well, I guess it could give their fans some motivation.
Mariners have signed 1 free agent ever for over 100mm and it was 13 years ago.
They aren’t forgotten, they just don’t spend money in FA historically
true but 2 teams broke record contracts in their history in the last monthish so you never know.
also the last time they spent big it was a 2nd baseman from the AL East. might be time.
I think the Mariners are a great roster fit for Bo. He naturally slides into the Polanco role. I think a team signing Bichette wants to have DH time available to him a few times a week to help keep him fresh and on the field. The Mariners are unlikely to have a full time DH because Raleigh’s bat needs to be in the lineup and catchers need days off from being behind the plate. I also think Seattle should target guys who hit hard line drives like Bo does.
Your answer wins my Blue Ribbon post of the day. Great stuff! Well said, and I wholeheartedly agree.
So can DiPoto convince Stanton to give him the money for it? They just had a full 5 game DS and a full 7 game CS. They already got a good revenue bump last year from that and being so close to going to the World Series must have some projected carry over revenue into next season. Especially if they add to the team and keep the fan interest up. I know it hasn’t been their MO to sign multi year deals for position players in free agency. But they already showed a willingness to with Naylor and Bo is young enough to fit for a while if you can keep him healthy.
Would love to see it. It would be a cut-throat going for the jugular kind of move. And if not Bo, then trade for Marte. If Marte is not moved, then we’re talking about Donavan and perhaps a reunion with Geno. I would expect at least one more addition to the lineup at least. I realistically can only dream that the answer will be #1 or #2 above. What will likely happen is something more like #3. With room then to go get help at the deadline if necessary.
Angels.
He feels like a Phillie.
Why not sign Ranger Suarez with that money? What is the plan for the starting rotation with Suarez gone and Wheeler out to start the season?
Sign Chris Bassitt. Bichette is exactly the hitter the offense needs. Or roll with Marchan/Stubbs and use JT’s money (and Bohm’s or Stott’s) and resign Ranger.
Phillies current rotation is Sanchez, Luzardo, Nola, Painter, Walker. That’s without Wheeler who is expected back June/July. So that rotation is pretty set. I’d obviously rather have Ranger back, but he isn’t in their budget.
Wheeler is progressing faster than expected. The last report projects Wheeler could possibly be ready by opening day. A conserative projection, would be early to mid May.
Ouch this means you really only have 2/5ths of a starting rotation that is rock solid dependable sure-things. Your #3 thru #5 are problem childs who could vary anywhere from keeping you viable in your division at best, to perhaps utter breakdown & dysfunction if they all go awry in various ways. Yikes I didn’t realize it was that precarious in Phillie. (And there is no feasible rational excuse in the world to explain why the Phillies didn’t have JT locked up WEEKS or even MONTHS ago…I mean, why? why? why? It is the most inevitable no-brainer contractual reunion that one could find this offseason, yet here we are crickets in second week of January.) The Front Office in Phillie is acting like they forgot how to make routine basic baseball decisions. Maybe Dombrowski needs a break.
IgSob – sarc? felt sarc-ish but am not sure…
Sure, but it’s still one of the better rotations out there. Won’t be as strong as las year without Ranger.
VPH, I agree Suarez, probably bc of his agent, is not in the budget. But Bichette at third, and maybe a Bohm trade to St. Louis for a catcher is a possibility. I’d still bring back Bader to play left or center and give Crawford a chance to play with an insurance policy in marsh and/or Bohm if he isn’t ready is not out of the budget. Perfect scenario:
Turner agrees to play OF, they sign Bichette to play 3rd, call up Miller to play ss, and Crawford in the OF and painter on the mound every fifth day is exciting bc you then have a balance of youthful talent and veteran hitters. And if all that could happen without JT, I’d miss him but, a team like that if firing on all cylinders reopens the Phillies window for long term success.
Without a farm to gut Dumbrowski is just…well dumb
Gut feeling for me says, Toronto or the Cubs. Phillies would be pretty interesting if they grabbed him though.
Tucker to Toronto
Bregman to Boston
Bichette to Philly
Bellinger to Yanks
I agree 100%.
That sounds about right unless the Giants surprise everyone for Bo.
Bellinger to cubs Yanks wiff on all 4
There’s no way Ricketts ponies up the money and the years it’ll take to sign Bichette. He just traded for Cabrera so he wouldn’t have to pay a FA starter.
But can you afford to let Tucker walk and not at least add to the offense? I’m not super familiar with the Cubs farm system, but subtracting Tucker and not adding any sort of replacement offensively seems like bad decision. Maybe Bichette might be too pricey, Bregman? Regardless, you can’t subtract a player like Tucker and expect things to improve or stay the same. You can hope for it but its not the type of gamble I would consider wise.
He’s screaming dodgers for me.
@HEHEHATE
I’m leaning that way too. Short term contract with a higher AAV and optouts.
I say Dodgers get either Bichette or Tucker.
Some days I question if you’re a burner account for Jeff Passan.
But then again, nothing surprises me anymore since the day I witnessed an A’s fan doing whippets by himself during the 6th inning at the Oakland Coliseum back in 2016.
Aaah . . .
They won 69 games that year, it only makes sense to get a little toasty
And 249 MLBTR readers hit Google to look up what whippets are…
I admit, I am one. I only knew them as a type of dog …but the context didn’t fit.
It’s A’s fans…it still fit.
Toronto is the heart-vote but Bo has to attach some value to hitting around Vlad in particular. Every team has that strength in one bat, or two, so that aspect is negated to some extent.
That said, I REALLY would not like seeing him in another AL East uni so, if it ain’t T.O., go west, young man!
But NOT to the Dodgers.
He goes to the Washington Nationals in the shock of the offseason
Or Pittsburgh lol
Again unlikely. But yes a suprise.
Unlikely.
CJ Abrams
The shock of the offseason indeed
I think he sighs a pillow contract with the Angels to play 3rd base.
I could see him at second base. Then use More, as a trade chip.
Why would he do that? Somebody much closer to giving Bo the chance to compete for a WS stepping up with a pillow deal seems more likely.
His market is close to dead. The only team I see doing that is the Mariners, and I find that doubtful.
I don’t see the Mariners having enough money.
I think they’re the winner of the Donovan sweepstakes.
Starting 2nd basemen for the Padres.
Do they have the money?
Not at all… adding a 3B does not exclude Bo.
With Bichette, they have Bo at short, Clement at 2B, and Barger in RF.
With Tucker, they have Kyle in RF, Clement still at 2B, and Giménez at SS.
I would argue that the combination of Bichette & Barger is superior to that of Tucker and Giménez.
Even if Bichette does need to be moved to second base, Clement is a capable shortstop in his own right.
Kyle Tucker is a gifted player, but -considering his presence forces Giménez into an everyday role – he’s not the ‘direct fit’ to this team that many seem to believe him to be.
Of course, the Jays may end up with neither player (or even both), but between the two, I suggest Bichette ought to be their higher priority.
I think Tucker can play left. Wanted to play right with the Astros, their GM said yes, and the next day they signed a right fielder.
Gimenez is at least a strong-side starter regardless of who they sign. I do think the best version of the Jays is to re-sign Bichette and play him at 2B, platoon Gimenez and Clement at SS, and platoon Barger or Lukes (and trade the other) with Schneider in the OF.
Rockies. Go all-in. New FO, make a statement to your poor fans. Certainly room for a middle infielder and the old timers will remember his Pops. Probably double your attendance if they did.
Me personally, I don’t think Bichette will sign with a rebuilding team.
What if only fringe and rebuilding teams make him an offer? Can’t sign with a team that doesn’t offer a contract.
The problem is, many teams aren’t offering a big deal. A short term deal will be loved by many, and big market teams will swoop in. That’s a fake what if for a free agent like Bichette. Your logic is correct, but you can’t use it here. Maybe Griffin Canning?
AC Surf Baseball 609 — And still lose 100+ games. Bo says no.
I say the Jays
Barger goes to RF
Clement becomes excellent bench piece
Goofy mustache man can go away
Clement is already an excellent bench piece. Goofy mustache man is still a good platoon partner for Barger in RF. So Lukes gets traded? Or do they cut bait on Santander?
I think Lukes is the odd man out. Schneider was the better hitter last year and can play the infield. He’s also younger. And while you love to see a guy break out at 31 those are often the guys who fade just as quickly (Looking at you, Randy Ruiz.)
Lukes is already the odd man out once Okamoto was signed.
They just signed Santander. He’s not going anywhere.
Clement should start over Gimenez.
Gimenez is an elite defender at the most important position, that alone is worth having him in the lineup. But they also bat from opposite sides and have traditional splits, so a platoon would make plenty of sense.
@noquarter89
Catcher is the most important defensive position. They control the running game, and as Stengel (I think it was Stengel) once said, without a good catcher all you have is passed balls and wild pitches.
Between predetermined analytics-driven pitch sequences, pitchers completely ignoring baserunners, and now ABS, catcher defense is a lot less important than it used to be.
@noquarter89
ABS hasn’t been implemented in the majors, so irrelevant.
Pitch sequencing has nothing to do with a catchers defensive ability, so again irrelevant.
Pitchers ignoring the base runner is preposterous. They throw over, quick pitch, throw from the stretch, step off, change the time between pitches, pitch out.
Built into catching metrics are pop up times and throwing velocity. Both meant as a measure to control the running game. Blocking is another measure of the catchers ability to block balls in the dirt.
You’re just wrong stating that catcher defense is a lot less important than it used to be.
All good points except ABS is live in MLB for 2026. That takes Way the framing aspects mostly, the pop times and other skills are still relavent. But I hate the extra inning ghost runners and the 2 throw over minimum, especially for a start the runner clock visible to speed guys…prioritizing offense over P & D is a baseball crime that needs to go away…both of those stupid rules.
It’s not full ABS. Just the challenge system. Framing still matters as the close pitches aren’t likely the ones being challenged.
Atkins doesnt want him 🙁 I predicted Dodgers when the Jays traded for Gimenez.
Wow
Somebody please explain to me why second basement are so under appreciated!?
Cuz most places only need one basement ?
That was low
But foundational.
too far underground
Both basements usually appreciate with the house
Because almost every second baseman in baseball plays second base cause they couldn’t cut it as a shortstop.
Really Bo reminds me a lot of Derek Jeter. If he played in that generation (and for the Yankees) he’d be seen as a huge star. Granted he never had a year like a couple Jeter had but beyond that they are very similar.
Half the players in baseball played shortstop at some point and couldn’t stick there.
Usually they are secretive and…..very much appreciated by just a few…if….they know about it, that is…..
One basement will do.
The Dodgers do need to get younger. They can probably find some room in that budget for another $180M commitment
I still picked TOR.
He is a near perfect fit for the Cubs, especially now that they traded Owen Caissie. He can play 3B four times a week and DH when the pitching matchup dictates Shaw’s defense at 3B over Ballesteros’ bat at DH as well as day games after night games. Shaw can also give Hoerner and Swanson days off.
They gave Swanson 7/177 a few years ago going into his age 29 season. Bichette is going into his age 28 season. 8/230 is a justifiable deal given the Cubs’ previous pursuit of Swanson: an extra year for the age difference, and about a 15% bump for some inflation.
@Brick House Coffee Tables Inc
Bo doesn’t know 3B.
Bo has a lot of strengths as a ballplayer. Throwing across the diamond is not one of them.
@ brick house
No one is offering Bo near that. Why bid against yourself?
Then even better, offer him less.
I guess I wasn’t clear – if the market WAS that high, the Cubs would have internal precedent to do it.
Now folks here are saying that Bichette can’t really play 3B. That’s more of a problem because Ballesteros can’t really catch. Otherwise I’d just stick Bo at DH for a year.
The Cubs were interested in Bo as a 3B when they were discussing trade two years ago. I don’t think Bo has the comfort for it. He’s said he’s willing to play 2B specifically. But if he’s going to take a pillow deal, it seems like proving capable at 3B might be better for reentering the market.
Red Sox. His pops is familiar with the organization and they’re going to be very, very good the next few years with all their young talent. If I were a Sox fan, I’d want this over bringing back Bregman who seems like he’s all about the Benjamin’s right now
Go Cubs!!
Probably the Giants, realistically.
Rockies. Then they will win 62 games this season.
I can see Bo Bichette and his Houston Astros
@vandilioff
I can’t reply to your comment about the Astros but I don’t think we need another infielder. You aren’t displacing Pena and where will Altuve play, don’t you dare say left because that’s going to be scary. Unless Bichette will play 1st, he’s not coming. Also, if we were adding infielders, I would add Bregman on 4 or 5 year deal.
I would rather play Altuve in LF than 2B. LF is a bat-first position for a reason. But it’s a moot point as long as we’re stuck with Walker.
Well can he play at Camden Yards, which has a 1 mile left field porch, or the other deep stadiums?
No they can sub him out those games, or when there’s an extreme fly ball pitcher on the mound. My ideal would be that we find a way to move Walker, Matthews wins the 2B job, and Altuve and Yordan pretty much do a 50/50 split between LF and DH.
I’ve said if Angels were smart they would sign Bichette, get Arenado for nothing, sign Bellinger to sub in out CF and sign Valdez or Suarez.
Bellinger is no longer the ace CF. He’s fine there on occaasion but not everyday.
Mariners!
Until this Cabrera thing got done, it was too quiet in Wrigleyville. Still, I can easily see them sign Bichette and send Nico to the Mariners for a couple of high prospects not named Emerson, Sloan, or Anderson.
If they were to trade Nico it would be to the Giants for young arms.
Cashman should.just say,”Look, we’re are the.flippin Yankees”!
Sign them all whether Steiny signs off on it or.not…… Just do it.
Wish I could.say.that about.the Tigers.
They should have hired the Superfife!
I would have signed them.all – except.that one guy the writers love. I wouldn’t put them out of a job.
could kma. Fire.me.buddy, I just got you that WS ring…
@The Saber-toothed Superfife
Yankees have fallen on hard times. They’ll be the Pirates in a few years.
There is something seriously wrong with everything these days. Seems like everything and everybody has gone screwy.
This would be a stunner, but how ‘bout a Lake Erie splash. A big splash. They are looking for right handed bats. Ya just never know!
Shock the world, Brewers.
Dodgers aren’t the favorite … but their odds go up every day!
As do the deferrals.
Not that he would want to play there…but this is a the kind of signing that would be perfect for Pittsburgh. .
Bichette is young enough to be an impact player for quite awhile. He could play SS this year and move over to 3rd when/if Griffin is the real deal. 2B would be open for Termarr Johnson.
If he signs for what MLBTR guessed, that’d put the Pirates at about $120 million for 2026. My guess is this signing would fire up the city so much, attendance would easily increase from 1.5M to 2.2-2.3M and the Pirates would go from dark horse wild card team to a legitimate playoff contender.
I really don’t know if Bo has the arm for 3B. I guess if he plays on the line, you don’t have to worry about his range to his right. Problem is he wants SS money when nobody wants him as a SS.
Mariners, maybe?
Stalking. Pouncing. Ambushing. Devouring.
Things Tigers do for $1000, Alex.
Hire the Superfife.
There would be a WWF day every year at Comerica for Tiger conservation awareness.
Did you know? There are more Tigers in captivity than in the wild. Only about 3,500 left in the wild.
Shoulda hired the Superfife.
5,500
Down from
100,000 – 100 years ago.
Like the article says, stick him at SS this year and shift to 2B next year when McGonigle comes up. Javy can get at bats all over including CF…if he hits!
Tigers already are weak defensively at 3B. With Bo at SS, just hit it on the ground!
That is true. This year would be painful defensively.
Back to the Blue Jays on a short term, high AAV type deal with opt outs. Just like the Pete Alonso and Alex Bregman contracts this past season.
Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ok , so the voting looks about complete and we’re calling it for Toronto. Someone please inform Bo that the peoples has spoke and he stay’s put, Thank you.
The Jays sign Bichette to play 2B. He is the cleaner fit over Tucker. Clement goes back to UTL. OF is Santander, Varsho, and Barger. Lukes or Straw is the 4th OF. Schneider and Loperfido can get dealt for a reliever or two.
C: Kirk
1B: Guerrero Jr.
2B: Bichette
SS: Gimenez
3B: Okamoto
LF: Santander
CF: Varsho
RF: Barger
DH: Springer
Bench:
C: Heineman
INF: Clement
OF: Lukes
OF: Schneider or Straw
They need a LH stick more then another RH plus Springer a FA next year
I voted the Phillies, but I know in my heart they aren’t signing him.
I’m going Diamondbacks… you heard it here first! I had hoped he would go back to the Blue Jays, it doesn’t seem like that is going to happen.
Jeez yanks get no love on the entire thread ! They need bo and bellinger !
That’s because they are in a 17 year drought and it’s gonna be a long while before they see another trophy. Teams, fans and players know it… They need a total rebuild
The Broncos should sign him, so they can have two Bo’s.
Definitely not LAD — they’re already full of -chette. Overflowing even.
I keed, I keed.
The Twins might give a Correa contract out again.
Redsox will sign Bregman, Bichette and Trade for either Skubal or Peralta.
I can see the Giants if they are going to protect Eldridge from left on left matchups like the depth charts at fangraphs suggest. Bo could play 2B and then get off his feet and DH against lefties. Seems like there was some thought that Posey wanted to infuse some star power and Bo seems to be a household name. Also seems like Bo is a good fit for tough HR parks because that’s not how he gets to his value. Putting the fly ball guys like Bellinger Bregman, and Tucker into tough HR environments seems to be a paying for a skill that will be muted by the park.
Same reason I think the Mariners fit if they get the budget bump they deserve for last year’s showing. DH days available and the park fits. Perfect Polanco replacement.
Cubs too. But the Cubs are so used to great defense. Can they stomach the major defensive downgrade from Hoerner or Shaw to Bichette? He needs to DH some but will still want to primarily play the field.
Boston feels like the only team with any real smoke.
I voted “other” because I’m surprised the Rangers weren’t included. Pretty wide open race to sign him this might take a while.
IA is saying Bichette.turned.down several $400M contracts to.stay with the BlueJays……
???????
It won’t he the Mariners but shouldn’t be an automatic no. I get the price but would instantly transform the lineup give an option for shortstop in 2027 and allow them to dangle Cole Young or keep him for infield depth. Yes a $190M budget isn’t in the cards for them, but should be. Adding him and getting a couple decent relievers instantly makes them among the top contenders and a scary lineup and opens possibilities for trades they cant afford to make right now. I know its not my money but feel a move like this turns them into a preseason monster.
