Ray Ray Re-Signs With Giants
The Giants re-signed Ray Durham today to a two-year deal worth around $14MM. It's a reasonable price, given that Durham was the second-best power threat remaining on the market.
If you want pop, you're left with Barry Bonds or Mike Piazza, basically.

The only pop left on the market? I've said it before and i'll say it again, Aaron Boone is still available.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything about anyone wanting Boone. Good for Ray Ray though.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Ray's hammies hold up this year

When you consider the market, it's extremely reasonable. COmpare it to the deal Jeff Kent signed with the Dodgers a few years (back when the market was actually REASONABLE) and it compares fairly favorably considering massive inflation.

U want pop?
Fly to Mexico and watch THE ERUBIEL RIPPING IT!!!
The Erubiel had a 1.000+ OPS going last time I saw.
At the very least, he's a solid lefty bat to DH and come off the bench once in a while.
Best case scenario he does some steroids.
With his skills, he'd hit 40 HRs if he juiced.

Ray Druham is a steal for this price by the way.
No d a hometown discount.
Durham is great.

I saw Durham play as a second baseman for the Birmingham Barons, the AA affiliate for the White Sox. He was a speedy, defensive-minded second baseman. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him mature as a player. He's more developed as a player, improving all the aspects of his game.
I'm not a Giants fan, but I applaud their re-signing him. Great move.

Good work by the posters here. Durham could easily go down as the best value signing of this entire free agent period, crazy flukes aside. I don't get why Epstein wasn't all over him (Durham to 2B, Pedroia to his "natural" SS, in a year reassess).

Durham is about as good a deal tho.
Both were steals at their prices.
