Its Lima Time!

Tim, Just so you know, the guy you're using for the Cards news, is a complete idiot and is making things up. The Cards aren't looking for a LH reliever, Mo has gone on record saying they would like to get a LH'ed swing man, because of the uncertainty behind Mulder and they want to have a least one LH starter to start the season wtih. You really shouldn't give publicity to such crap rumors...

nice catch with Carlos Ruiz in your rankings. Lots of people are undervaluing him.
I had him stashed as a sleeper in my H2H league, but was forced to release him cuz of limited roster slots and Vmart.
Big time value pick right there.

Why would the guy make up a rumor so boring?
Posted by: Tim Dierkes | January 06, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Tim, I would assume it's to try and get readers? He's just throwing things out his @ss basically. Mo said in an interview on 1380, the main STL sports radio channel that he would like to find a LH'ed swing man. But if he gets his man, the pitcher would start the season in the rotation and then possibly go back to the pen once Mulder comes back

I don't know if it was just a regional (Houston) thing, but Jose Lima sang the jingle in this Casa Olé (chain Mexican restaurant) commercial that will haunt me to my death...
Casa Olé!
Olé!
Fresh Today!
Olé!
Everyday!
Olé!
Casa Olé!

Then when he left, they added "We'll miss you, Jose!" at the end.
I still miss him.
In some ways.

yeah i certainly dont see the cards needing relief help. that was a real strength last year. now if somehow we can use that to trade for a guy like bay with either wilson and maybe morris(barring they pick up some salary)then lets do it. this would be an excellent time to get bay, coming off a down year. im just not sure what duncan brings so we could give him up. with ankiel who is lefthanded and rasmus coming as well this would make sense. and lets toss reyes in and maybe kennedy(i wish)or ryan in there. bay is a real talent and still cheap for a few years. a real middle of the lineup hitter. i believe anytime you have a reliever that has value its not a terrible idea to trade him and johnson, while he is talented,im just not sure about. we get morris and rotation of wainwright, piniero, mulder, morris, and clement has serious boom or bust to it. at least we might have a shot.

Why do cub fans care about angel pagan? Ive read on boards that people think he was the cubs best centerfielder, and he wasnt even going to make the opening day roster

Can we please have someone named Jesus involved with these Angel Pagan rumors? It would make a slow off-season so much more exciting...
Posted by: MostlyRunning. | January 07, 2008 at 01:01 AM
Yo, Lohse! If you can't find your 5/50 deal just sign with an AL West team to build your value for a year then suck at it. Then do it again with a different AL west team and suck at that. Then go sign a lease on a duplex with Jeff Weaver in Suck City.
Sincerely,
Scotty B.

“Can we please have someone named Jesus involved with these Angel Pagan rumors? It would make a slow off-season so much more exciting...”
…Like say, Jesus David Flores from the Nats? I think he would fit your request nicely :)

no, no, no....
With a name as completely contradictory as Angel Pagan absent from the roster, The Cubs should seriously look into acquiring former Mexican League pitching standout Jesus Satán.

Of course now that Angel Pagan is on the Mets, there is always the chance he ends up in an OF between Damion Easley and Jesus Feliciano… Son of Satan to the right, Son of God to the left…
(Although, I guess it was Dami’e’n in the Omen, huh? Ahh, close enough for quite a chuckle if does happen to take place…)

its nice to crack jokes but how about some actual baseball talk mixed in? im here to talk baseball, not make fun of peoples names. cmon guys.
Posted by: Joelcards | January 07, 2008 at 06:44 AM
You WEREN'T joking when you suggested that a Cardinals team without a realistic chance of contending in '08 add an additional $16 Million to the payroll in the form of a fast-fading Matt Morris likely to post an ERA near 5.00 next year and a never-good Jack Wilson with his lifetime .312 OBP?!?!
Look, if there's real news to discuss I'll discuss it, but if the big transaction of the day is a AAA outfielder getting shipped out for two guys we'll never hear of again then I'll go ahead and crack a joke or two.
Chill out, braaah.

Well on the Cardinals Hot Stove report on Sunday night on FSN, they mentioned the Cards possibly being in the market for a left handed pitcher reliever/starter. I think the guy you're getting your info from is good. Not a "complete idiot" as posted before. He called the Clement deal a while back.

Nice to see more people being high on Soto. I love this guy's potential for next year.

This made my morning. Thank you.
