« Rockies Notes: Giles Fails To Make Team | Main | Survey Results: Brian Roberts »
MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan says the Rangers are close to a deal with John Patterson. The match makes sense for both parties. Patterson is from Texas and will remain in a low-pressure environment. The Rangers add some depth with no risk and decent upside. He'll head to Triple A and try to regain his strength and velocity.
You can read all about Patterson's lengthy injury history here.

I like this signing for the Rangers. It's a low risk high reward move that could payoff BIG if Patterson returns to his former self.

I heard the Astros were in the thick of things with Patterson. Is the Rangers deal a lock?

Good luck to him. I hope he can get back on his feet. He's like Carl Pavano, minus the windfall contract.

brian...
The Rangers have a recent history of resurrecting careers of injured/downfallen players, i.e. Eric Gagne, Jamey Wright.
It's not hard to believe that Patterson will follow this mold.
