The Dodgers acquiring Maddux thru a waiver trade is virtually impossible; any team below LA in the NL West could put in a claim just to block it.

The name's Rich Aurilia...

"Step up and give us the prospect package the Padres want"
How pompous. I've got a prospect "package" for Towers.

The Mets should definitely try to claim Randy Winn if he's put on waivers...

Seriously, does Kevin Towers think he is Billy Beane or something? Maddux isn't worth the "prospect package" he likely wants.

Don't be so sure. Maddux isn't much of an improvement over what they already have. Seems kind of piddly to do that.

FTA: "We're confident that this is an ongoing process," Sabean said. "It's not like our players aren't going to get through waivers."
Nobody wants your overpriced garbage, Sabean. You better hope that a team needs to desperately fill a void left by injury.

If the Giants wanted to move all those players they should have done so before the trade deadline. What advantage is there to wait?

Injuries may strike and require a team to give up a better package...ie if Ryan Church comes back (god forbid) the mets will be in dire need of OF help.

corbin - I'm sure your right. Just seems like a bad strategy if you are talking about 3 or 4 players vs maybe one guy you hope to push through.
Oh well. My guess is that the Giants get saddled with those guys for the rest of the year.
