According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Rangers DH Milton Bradley would like to return in '09. Both sides are interested, but negotiations will wait until after the season.
Bradley feels comfortable in Texas, and that's led to a massive .314/.441/.579 line in 407 plate appearances. He hasn't been this healthy since '04. His OBP ranks first in the AL by a wide margin, and he's third in SLG.
The 30 year-old Bradley is earning roughly $6MM this year if you include incentives. I imagine he'd want to double that salary in free agency, though he's pretty hard to value.

I'd love to see Bradley get the respect he deserves with a 4yr/$52mm contract.

For a DH? That guy needs to prove he can stay healthy for an entire season before he can get a long term deal.

I love Bradley and what he brings to the Rangers, but you can't give him more than a 3 year deal maybe with a buyout for a 4th year. Partly, it is his health issues, but mainly it is that there are younger players which will push Bradley firmly into the DH role and then even out of the DH slot when the farm crop gets harvested over the next 2-3 years. Of course, if Bradley plays at this level during that time, well then he might keep the DH role.

he'll definitely resign with the rangers, but i think $52 million is a little too much. i'm guessing it'll be an incentive-laden contract for 4 years 45 million plus a 5th year club option. the rangers need a guy like milton in the clubhouse though (a guy with more of an edge), and they'll likely do what they can to keep him.

Let Bradley walk. Bradley has only managed to go more than 500 AB's a pathetic twice in 12 years in the majors and minors combined. He'll be a Type-A FA so we can get the draft picks. Go with Max Ramirez at DH full-time and save the money we'd otherwise give to Bradley and use it on a FA starter. A full season from Chris Davis and Ramirez would more than compensate for whatever we'll lose if Bradley is gone. 2 draft picks the quality of Julio Borbon and Neil Ramirez + Ollie Perez > 400 AB's from Meltdown Badly.
