Sabathia definitely doesn't want to go the Yankees. I don't think he likes what is going on over there. I could see him going to the Dodgers.
Randy Winn has been one of the most underrated players this year, he's batting .315 and is one of the Giants best players.

If C.C. can turn down an offer from the Yankees who probably will make the richest pitcher in baseball good for him

I don't really see why they Angels would make a push for Sabathia, unless they plan on making Weaver or Saunders trade bait.
I do see the Dodgers in on that, though I wonder where they pick up the extra cash to do it. Perhaps claim the insurance on Schmidt and do a salary dump with Pierre?

I agree. The only stat one can point at and say he has pulled back a bit is his home run total, but I think that may be a function of his making better contact and getting on base more and getting fewer dingers on bad balls. His SB percentage is insane at 25/27, and that is a big plus.

as a rangers fan, just the thought at sabathia in an angels uni scares me.
that rotation would be ridiculous

sabatha says he would like to play for Charlie manual, I'd like to see him in red pin stripes-- but I have a feeling he's gonna be at the top of the dodger rotation if they can find someway to get rid of Pierre, jones, and schmidts contracts

"but I have a feeling he's gonna be at the top of the dodger rotation if they can find someway to get rid of Pierre, jones, and schmidts contracts"
And therin lies the problem as there isnt a snowballs chance in heel that happens. Schmidt and Jones are done after '09, no one is going to take a heavy 1 year deal and Pierre is, well, Pierre.
CC would obviously help, but pitching isnt their problem, its been offense. Manny has completely changed the dynamic of that team. The Dodgers should be spending $$$ on trying to keep Manny and Blake. Even with the loss of Lowe you still have Billingsley, Kuroda, and Kershaw as a solid 3. Maddux( if he wants to come back) McDonald, and Penny ( maybe) could round out yur rotation.

After entertaining all the other offers, CC Sabathia will end up signing with the Giants. That is, after the Giants end up making a couple of trades, 1 of which being unfortunately trading away Matt Cain for some sort of young middle of the order type power hitter they cant pass up or equally unfortunately trading Johnathan Sanchez for slightly less than Cain.
Sabathia and Zito will anchor the most expensive staff in baseball and the cy young winner will be making only a fraction of both of them.

How dare Sabathia make his own decision. Haven't Yankee fans been telling us for months that their team is "entitled" to his services? Next your going to be telling us that Burnett wants to stay in Toronto and Sheets likes Milwaukee. What good is a $300 million budget if nobody wants your money?

It's easy to say you're not interested when there's no money on the table yet.

A couple things about Sabathia and the Dodgers. One, isn't it about time an insurance policy kicks in on Schmidt? If so, that should cover most of Sabathia's deal for next year. Further, remember that Schmidt and Jones are gone after next year, so the salary extension would be short lived, though the Dodgers would have arb issues with some of the young talent.
That said, I think Manny has to be the priority. He means so much to the line up, both with production and fear.

I'd be more inclined to believe Heyman if his source didn't have Patrick Duffy for a leg.

"No free agent pitcher, given the choice, would want to play in that joke of a park in Philly."
Actually Sabathia said he would like to hit in the park.

jimmie- If Zito didn't exist, I'd say the Giants would be the ones signing CC. If Sabean signs CC, I hope he is shown the door. Well, he needs to be shown the door anyway. I want a Fire Sabean shirt, even though I'm not a Giants fan.

Melonis rex- I wholeheartedly agree with you on Sabean, and I am a Giants fan. Unfortunately, after hearing Sabean speak on local radio over the last month since the CC speculation began, he has never dismissed the idea. In fact, even though he won't speak about any specific player so not to violate any league rules, "hypothetically" he will say that the right player under the right situation, he could see adding another Zito type contract. He also said under those same situations that it would enable them to trade "a young pitcher for a power hitter". When asked specifically about Lincecum he said he's not going anywhere, then when asked about Cain, Sabean hesitated, said no and decided to change the subject off direct names.
I hope I'm wrong because I think financially the giants would be handicapped for a looong time, but I read that as seriously exploring Sabathia.

While I do think it's very possible that CC wont end up a yankee next year, I also think its possible all of this "I dont want to be a yankee" talk is part of a negotiating stance. Its obvious the yankees need CC and are desperate to get him, by saying he doesnt want to play there he may just be driving up the amount of money the bombers are willing to drop to get him.... eh? Eh? wishful thinking? I hope not....

Speaking of trading Cain: Peter Gammons just said that Matt Cain may be able to net the Giants Prince Fielder AND J.J Hardy. That seems a bit much...

Why would'nt CC sign with the giants, he is from the east bay. Plus you might as well as sign dontrel too. all he needs is mommy who lives in Oakland. If the Giants trade for Prince that would move Pablo to 3rd and Catcher. they would be able to throw travis in a trade to someone.
