Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers have decided to let interim manager Dale Sveum go after his 12-day tenure following Ned Yost's firing.
GM Doug Melvin, however, has been extended for three years.
According to Haudricourt, the Brewers are considering Buck Showalter, Bob Brenly and Ken Macha.

I mentioned yesterday afternoon that I just had a feeling that Dale wasn't gonna be back. I was kinda hoping that feeling was wrong but here we are. I think Dale was penalized for a team that was hurt tremendously by Jim Skaalen's inability to be a hitting coach and after inheriting a team that was near the bottom of their downward spiral. I was very pleased with the way was able to manage the pitching staff but also very disappointed with a few decisions he made in regards to the lineup; mainly Cameron leading off, Hall batting 2nd (against the lefties) and his unwillingness to change it when it didn't work.
The worst part about this, for me, is what this does to Dale. He's a Brewer through and through and gave up his position with the Red Sox to take a position under Ned Yost in hopes that he one day would get a chance to manage in this city. Unfortunately, because of the way Yost and Skaalen drove these guys into the ground, Dale was asked play Rumpelstiltskin and spin straw into gold.
If Doug's decision to let Dale go is because he wants somebody with big league managerial experience because the Brewers are still going to be highly competitive, then Doug better go out and get us some guys that can make that happen.
I wish you the best Dale. Wherever you land, give 'em hell.

I can understand the move by Melvin not keeping a Yost guy around. I still think they could do a lot worse than have Sveum take over full time. Especially since the team is going to look way different next year. I suspect a bigger name is on Melvin's wish list. This will be his second hire. Even though he just got extended, he wants to make sure you make it right with a more proven manager. I don't blame him there. He took his chance with Yost.

I agree with citron. Sveum got the short end of the stick due to Yost and Skaalen, and although he did make some questionable moves (one notable one being that long leash he had on Suppan in the NLDS), managerial hindsight is 20/20. All managers make decisions that may look bone-headed after the game.
I'm not really high on Macha though.

Wonder if Willie Randolph would be interviewed. The Yankees and Nationals are interested in him as a coach.
